[00:00:01][music] >> Hello. Welcome back to Arma 2 DayZ mod.

[00:00:12]So, we're starting a new series today on this really old version of Arma 2 DayZ mod. Probably about 14 years old or something. It's a which is crazy to think.

[00:00:22]It's version 1.7.2.6 and it's on a server that I've set up with a couple of friends and you can come and join if you want. Uh all the details to do that are in the description. So, feel free and like it like have like a thing showing you how to download it and stuff. But, if you need any help, just just leave a comment. Uh so, yeah, we're going to be starting a new a new series playing on this server and just the kind of uh interactions I get up to and the kind of situations. I've been playing it for a couple of weeks now on and off with a couple of friends and on my own and it's been really fun. So, I've got like AI configured for the server. So, there's like roaming bandits uh in helicopters and ones that hang around towns, some that drive between towns, some that are just roaming out in the woods. Uh so, you really do have to be careful.

[00:01:16]So, like, you know, I could come across one right now. And I was about to say there's one right there, but it's not.

[00:01:24]It's a sheep or a pig or something.

[00:01:27]Um so, yeah, you there there is the incentive to kind of you know, be cautious and play this um carefully, you know? Take your time. Uh enter towns at your own peril.

[00:01:43]Which is why I'm kind of heading up north now directly instead of running straight to Elektro where I would like to go in a minute to get some medical supplies.

[00:01:51]But, I thought I would try and maybe get like some basic farm loot before doing that.

[00:01:57]The way the AI spawn though, there's like a there's different tiers to it. So, there's there's AI that spawn down south and they tend to be a lot easier. Like they've got like lower level gear and things.

[00:02:11]And then the the AI up north have better gear. Although, the other day I was running around near Kamarovo and one of the just randomly wandering like roaming AI was just hanging around below to with an AS50. And he just like insta killed me. So, there is that that kind of old Daisy kind of feeling to the whole situation of like getting spawn camped and stuff.

[00:02:35]And the helicopter in this is is ruthless. Like I recommend that if you do come across it, just kind of hide.

[00:02:42]And, you know, run away. It really it does not take any prisoners.

[00:02:47]But, yeah, I I wanted to start this I mostly because me and my friends really enjoyed playing this version.

[00:02:54]DayZ mod was one of my favorite games ever and I'm not really like a a competitive gamer these days. I don't like claim to be a very good gamer either. Like, you know, as I you probably saw in my video that I made the other day. I've not really played games too much for the past 8 years or so.

[00:03:11]But, I noticed what playing this cuz me and some friends had like an itch for uh like some nostalgic DayZ.

[00:03:19]That um you know, you do get into some like really interesting situations and so I thought I'd like to document that um in a video in a series. I thought it'd be good fun. You know, and if if people join the server then it's a bonus, you know, it'd be um also really interesting.

[00:03:37]But, I I'm under no illusion. I don't intend to bring back old Daisy or anything. Uh it's just a bit of fun and I'll still be playing on some other games when I get a chance to.

[00:03:49]Very likely, but I just really enjoy this game, and just fancy playing it.

[00:03:55]Ooh, what's this up here?

[00:03:58]Oh, this is like ruins up here.

[00:04:01]So, yeah, it's not to be taken too seriously, you know, I'm not I'm not going around killing like hundreds of players, and you know, pulling off some crazy stuff.

[00:04:10]Although, I might be pulling off some crazy stuff cuz the the AI are quite intense. Wow.

[00:04:17]Well, this is cool. I don't think I've ever been up here before. I must have done at some point, but well, just a weird little castle ruin.

[00:04:27]I did think there was a castle up here somewhere. I think there is, but maybe it's further down this way.

[00:04:33]I don't know. I thought I'd run there first and see if I can find like a a Lee-Enfield or something, maybe.

[00:04:40]Oh, yeah, I think the castle is just down this road.

[00:04:43]Okay, I'm going to run down that way and see what I can find.

[00:04:52]Wow, look at that. Ooh, we've got our first zombie roaming around outside.

[00:04:56]I'm going to try and be careful because zombies in this can hit really hard.

[00:05:00]More often than not, they make you bleed first hit, and they can break your legs as well, so I'm just going to avoid if I can.

[00:05:10]But, this castle is really, really cool.

[00:05:14]I'm kind of like particularly um thinking about castles and Ooh, look at that.

[00:05:22]There's a Huey.

[00:05:23]Wow.

[00:05:25]I've not actually found a helicopter on this server before.

[00:05:29]Like, me and my friends were like trying to find one the other day, but look at that.

[00:05:35]I'm assuming it's completely screwed. I don't think any of the vehicles spawn, you know, in any kind of working order.

[00:05:44]Let's have a look.

[00:05:45]Oh, yeah, fully red. This is going to take a lot of fixing up.

[00:05:49]Uh I love how it's so perfectly sat here as well.

[00:05:54]Hopefully that will take off and it won't just like tear up on here.

[00:05:59]But that's fine. That gives us something to work towards. I think that's one of my goals for this series is that I'd like to set up a helicopter.

[00:06:06]Um I'd like to find a ghillie suit, find a pretty good sniper rifle, you know, do all that kind of stuff.

[00:06:14]I think that would be fun.

[00:06:16]But I've been thinking a lot about castles and kind of like in apocalypse situations recently and um you know, how cool it would be to just like set up in one of these to survive the apocalypse. I've been reading this book called I think it's called Between Two Fires recently um and it's kind of set in a post-apocalyptic kind of medieval France.

[00:06:41]And there's a plague and there's all sorts of creatures and it's it's really really good. I definitely recommend it.

[00:06:47]If you kind of if you like the Song of Ice and Fire and you like um you know, kind of like apocalypse kind of depressing dark situations and worlds then I think you would very much enjoy it.

[00:07:03]It's it's a really good book. It's a really weird one as well because I remember trying to look for this book about 10 years ago and just not being able to find it anywhere and they've recently they've recently like re-released it which is really bizarre cuz I think the book came out like 14 years ago which is mad.

[00:07:22]It probably came out around the same time as DayZ.

[00:07:25]How peculiar.

[00:07:28]Now, I'm pretty sure there's a deer stand up here somewhere. I've just run down the road from the castle.

[00:07:33]What was it? Was it sheep?

[00:07:35]Um I'm fairly certain there's a deer stand around here somewhere. The deer stands in this version are really good. You can get all sorts of stuff in it. Is that goat as well?

[00:07:45]Now all we're missing is a a cow, pig, and a bunny rabbit.

[00:07:50]If you get that reference, then good for you. I spawn in Cherno again.

[00:07:55]Ah, I can see a barn over there, over the tops of those trees.

[00:07:59]I'm probably going to loot that. You might be wondering why I've not just run down into Electro.

[00:08:04]Because you know, there's there's decent loot down there, but it's also just really risky. And I don't really want to like go down there just yet. And I always find myself running into Electro, and I find it quite boring, to be honest.

[00:08:17]Like always running into the same spots.

[00:08:19]I like to kind of the way I tend to play this is I tend to sort of run out into the wilderness and kind of, you know, just like have my my very whimsical little frolic through the woods.

[00:08:31]You know, at these smaller towns that are a bit less of a risk.

[00:08:35]Uh, find some some loot there, and then then head towards the city.

[00:08:42]It always tends to work out better for me that way. I stay alive a bit longer.

[00:08:46]But then maybe I'm only alive longer because I'm just out in the woods, you know.

[00:08:51]But like I said before, the woods aren't even safe.

[00:08:57]Oh, look at that.

[00:08:59]Found a Lee-Enfield.

[00:09:02]I'm happy with that. I'll take the Lee-Enfield.

[00:09:10]I think I prefer the Lee-Enfield.

[00:09:13]I think it's it's much better. You can get like a one-hit knockout, and I think it does more blood damage as well. I don't really know.

[00:09:20]But I've always preferred it. I'm going to grab these supplies here.

[00:09:26]Take some empty tin cans to distract zombies. Just kidding.

[00:09:31]>> [laughter and gasps] >> As if I'm going to like distract zombies with a tin can. I haven't tried that in such a long time. I don't even know if it works.

[00:09:37]Maybe it works. We can try it. I tell you what, that's something I will try at some point soon. I'll try and distract some zombies with a tin can.

[00:10:17]He's coming towards me a bit too fast. I got a bit scared. I got a bit startled.

[00:10:23]It's kind of overkill killing him with a [ __ ] LE MP on him, but Oh god. I just really don't want to get my legs broke. Oh.

[00:10:41]I'm just going to check this dead zombie and see if he's got anything.

[00:10:44]Oh, we got sidearm. Oh, sick.

[00:10:50]So, I've just made my way down to Elektro.

[00:10:52]And I've just sneaked into the town. I'm going to try and be careful and not attract too many zombies.

[00:10:59]Cuz they can really stack up. Ooh.

[00:11:03]And all I really have is this LE MP field. Well, I have my PDW, but either way, if I shoot too much, I'm going to attract a lot of them.

[00:11:12]I can handle a couple. I can just lose them in this building.

[00:11:15]But, what I'm looking for is perfect.

[00:11:18]Just looking for some tin cans so I can um chuck them through the hospital window and then like run in and grab what I need.

[00:11:27]Ooh.

[00:11:28]What we got here then? Binoculars. I'll take those.

[00:11:32]Sure.

[00:11:35]I'm just going to head over to the food store.

[00:11:38][ __ ] it. I'm just going to run.

[00:11:42]Ah, that's going to be useful. Box of matches.

[00:11:45]So I can light a fire if I need to.

[00:11:49]I think one of the greatest things about like Arma 2 DayZ, and I've probably mentioned this before, but there's just so many zombies. Like they really do stack up. And if you've got like Oh, look at that. Now it's packed.

[00:12:04]You've got multiple people playing on a server, like you can spawn in a like a lot of zombies.

[00:12:10]And it really does just have that like 28 Days Later vibe. I miss like when they kind of when games like went for that kind of feeling, you know?

[00:12:23]Whereas like now in the standalone and a lot of the other ones like Reforged Z and stuff, they um they don't really go for like the the high capacity of zombies.

[00:12:39]And I don't know. I just don't think it's quite the same.

[00:12:45]I really liked that being a lot of zombies. It's just kind of even though the zombies are kind of janky and don't pose much of a threat for the most part. Like it was still like freaky like seeing them like running at you, you know?

[00:13:02]There's definitely like a psychological THING THERE.

[00:16:37]Uh you lose an equal amount for killing any AI. Um I just programmed it that way just because Ooh, I can hear a helicopter as well.

[00:16:49]Um just cuz I thought That guy's back up. Ooh, [ __ ] Yeah, he's got a He's got an aim on me again.

[00:16:57]I've got to be really careful.

[00:16:58]Yeah, I thought like in a survival situation, you know, you're killing like any other survivor. I feel like it's bound to like affect your humanity.

[00:17:07]It always just made sense to me that way. I mean Why is he healing?

[00:17:21]He's on enough to kill him.

[00:17:38]Okay, I think I've killed him this time.

[00:17:41]I'm going to try and get a sniper in a second.

[00:17:44]Should be all right there on his body for a minute while I just back off and try and kill these zombies or lose these zombies.

[00:17:53]So, I'm probably not going to go and check that, but I don't really need to.

[00:17:56]If I can get a sniper, then I feel fairly confident with with just getting out of there.

[00:19:55]I'm just glad to have made it in and out of Electro alive. As you'll have seen then, there's so many bandits down there and you can really get screwed up.

[00:20:03]Like um a lot of them, they tend to just have like basic farm guns and uh and pistols and things. Oh, look at that.

[00:20:17]Uh but they can spawn with better stuff.

[00:20:22]I was just lucky that there wasn't anyone down there with like a a light machine gun or something.

[00:20:59]And it's not going to be too hard to find that down in Cherno, which isn't too far away.
