[00:00:00]On April 14th, 1912, the RMS [music] Titanic received six separate wireless warnings about ice fields directly in its path. Six. The first arrived at 9:00 in the morning. The last at 11:00 at night. The ship was traveling at near maximum speed, 22 knots, through known ice fields in complete darkness.

[00:00:24]The lookouts in [music] the crow's nest had no binoculars. The binocular case was locked. The key had been left behind in Southampton.

[00:00:32]At 11:40 p.m., lookout Frederick Fleet spotted the iceberg [music] with his naked eye. He rang the bell three times.

[00:00:40]It was too late. The Titanic had 37 seconds to react. The iceberg tore a 90-m gash along the hull. 2 hours and 40 minutes later, the ship was gone. 1,517 people died.
