The black hole information paradox arises from the conflict between the no-hair theorem (which states that black holes can only be described by three properties: mass, charge, and angular momentum) and the principle that information cannot be destroyed in physics. When matter falls into a black hole, its detailed information appears to be lost, creating a fundamental contradiction in our understanding of physics.

Are We Living Inside a Massive Black Hole Right Now?Hinzugefügt:
I also read somewhere that our universe is most likely inside a massive black hole and Big Bang is of actually formation of a black hole. Also, what is the black hole information paradox?
Look, it's a theory.
It's a theory that maybe the universe is inside a black hole, a massive black hole. Maybe we are inside a massive black hole.
Um It's a theory. There's no evidence for it.
We know that the universe is expanding.
If we are inside a black hole, how come the universe is expanding?
Is the black hole also expanding? Do we see expanding black holes anywhere? We don't see that.
So, if black holes have a certain set of properties that are valid everywhere, then how does that make sense along with the known observational evidence that the universe is expanding?
It doesn't fit together.
So, that's one data point that that kind of tells you that we are maybe not inside the massive black hole.
Right? So, it's it's not a fact. It's it's a theory.
And we we have evidence we have observational evidence that kind of refutes that theory.
But it's still a good thought experiment to have. I mean, what if we are actually inside a black hole?
If you have a black hole that's large enough to contain our entire universe, oh, how would that situation look like from a physics perspective based on what we understand of the laws of physics? It's a good thought experiment and that's why physicists consider these things, these possibilities, but there are issues with this theory, okay?
What's this black hole information paradox?
Um See, black holes are known to have only three properties from It's called the black hole, you know, from the perspective of thermodynamics.
There is something called the no-hair theorem. Black holes have no hair. Hair means details.
So, from the perspective of from what we understand of black holes, any black hole, any black hole that you take anywhere in the world that that you observe, it can be described by only three properties.
You only need three pieces of information to understand everything about the black hole. It's mass, it's charge, and it's angular momentum. What is angular momentum? Spin.
Is it off spin or is it leg spin?
Is it off spin? Is it leg spin? That's all you need to know. So, if you know the black hole's mass, charge, and angular momentum, then you know everything about the black hole.
That is the best understanding we have of black holes, okay?
So, if So, does it mean but but when a black hole absorbs matter, material, it's absorbing charge. So, we know that black holes have possibly a little bit of charge. Overall charge becomes neutral inside a black hole mostly.
But it's also absorbing other information. For example, if it's absorbing photons, photons of polarization, what happens to that information about the photon polarization that went inside?
Is it destroyed?
So, there's a lot of information that goes inside the black hole, which seems to get destroyed by the black hole. And at the end of the day, all we are left with is mass, charge, and angular momentum.
But information can't be destroyed. That's also what physics tells us. So, are black holes objects that violate the laws of physics?
So, on the one hand, we have information theory that says information can't be destroyed.
And then on the other hand, we have black hole physics that says black holes have only three properties.
So, there's this paradox that you can't have this and that together.
So, that's the black hole information paradox.
