This video masterfully exposes the irony of institutional power, where a peasant’s innate wisdom dismantled the fragile logic of her executioners. It is a sobering reminder that history often canonizes the very voices it once tried to silence.

Joan of Arc - Burned Alive at 19. Her Trial Transcript Survives.Hinzugefügt:
In 1431, a 19-year-old girl was burned alive for heresy. [music] The trial transcript survives.
A peasant from a tiny village called Domremy, could not read, could not write, changed the entire war.
At 13, she heard voices in her father's garden, saints telling her to save France.
She was 13.
France was losing the Hundred Years' War.
The English held half the country.
The king was not crowned.
At 17, she told the future king God sent her.
He believed her, gave her an army.
A 17-year-old in armor rode to the front.
The French army had been losing for decades.
The Siege of Orléans, the English surrounded the city for months. She lifted it in 9 days.
17.
Wounded by an arrow at Orléans, she pulled it out herself, went back to fight the same day.
Reims Cathedral, July 1429.
Charles crowned King of France. She stood beside him holding her banner.
She had done everything the voices told her.
Crowned the king, saved Orléans.
Then her luck ran out. Captured at Compiègne, May 1430, the Burgundians sold her to the English.
The king did nothing.
They tried her for heresy in Rouen, an English-controlled court. The outcome was decided before it began.
The trial transcript survives. Every question, every answer. Her answers are the most remarkable part of this story.
Asked if she was in God's grace, she said, "If not, may God place me there."
19 years old, facing dozens of trained theologians, could not read. She outwitted them with almost every answer.
Guilty, heresy, wearing men's clothing, claiming to hear God's voice, sentenced to burn. She was 19. 30th of May, 1431.
The market square of Rouen. Tied to a stake, 19 years old.
Her last word was Jesus. She said it three times.
Some of her judges wept.
She was 19.
25 years later, the church retried the case. Declared innocent.
In 1920, she was made a saint.
A farm girl who could not read outwitted the most powerful court in Europe.
They killed her anyway.
Burned alive at 19, made a saint five centuries later. A farm girl who changed a war and terrified an empire. England, America, Europe, every hero still alive in the hearts of nations.
