Historic NYC Spots That Deserve More Attention Than Times Square

Now, [music] this is actually housed in an old tenement building, which is actually really cool cuz you're really getting [music] you're like truly getting a feel for what it was like. So, the whole purpose of this museum is to give [music] you a feel for what it was like for immigrants coming here to the Lower East Side. So, then you have the Eldridge Street Synagogue.

[00:00:16][music] Now, this was built in the late 19th century. So, it's basically one of the few structures [music] left of like the Eastern European Jewish community, especially in this neighborhood. Now, Orchard Street actually once had a pushcart [music] market on the street.

[00:00:30]And it was kind of like a big hub for like local shopping in the neighborhood.

[00:00:33]So, Rachel's Tombstone is another piece of history in the Lower East Side. So, it is actually a [music] like resting place for Jewish immigrants who came over to the Lower East Side. So, then you have the Seward Park Library.

[00:00:43][music] It was built in the early 20th century and it really really is an amazing piece of architecture. And this library particularly was definitely like a movement [music] that was happening in the Lower East Side when this was built.
