This GOANNA Was Ready To WHIP Me With It's TAIL

[00:00:01]Good day, team. We are on our way to a home in Palmwoods.

[00:00:05]Very busy suburb of ours where there's a goanna in a chicken coop. So, this happens quite a bit. Goannas are opportunistic predators.

[00:00:14]They'll often hang around campsites, around national park areas, around picnic areas, and also around backyards with chicken coops. So, not only will they go after the eggs, but they also, if they're big enough, will have a crack at a chicken, too. So, very hard to catch.

[00:00:32]I have been successful catching them off trees and stuff before, but usually they're too quick and they shoot straight up cuz they know that that's where they're safe.

[00:00:40]However, by last reports, this goanna has been locked in the chicken coop. So, hopefully it can't get out.

[00:00:47]And I'll [snorts] basically open the door, go in with it, lock myself in there with it, and then it's game on. It's Stew versus the goanna in a mad wrestle.

[00:00:57]They're certainly not something you want to be bitten by, that's for sure. They I like to call them the triple threat.

[00:01:03]So, they've got a mouthful of very razor-sharp teeth, which will slice you open like a hot knife through butter.

[00:01:12]They've got very sharp claws, and they've got a tail which they use as a weapon to whip you as well.

[00:01:19]So, some would say they're even more dangerous to catch than a brown snake, but um wish me luck. Let's see how we go.

[00:03:55]>> [sighs and gasps] >> So, I was going to try and grab him then. I was trying to get him back away from me and then go for the grab, but at the same time, I was happy for him just to go in the tube by himself and save me not having to grab him.

[00:04:09]So, it's um a bit of a a game we play with them.

[00:04:14]But um I didn't want to also hold his tail for too long cuz you don't want to hold it right at the end or anything like that cuz it can damage it. So, but I was happy with that. That's a good result.

[00:04:43]We are heading into Maroochydore at the main council building. Now, there's a lot of foot traffic around city hall.

[00:04:51]It's the new council building. It's not that new anymore. It's been there for a probably three or four, maybe five years.

[00:04:57]But there's a possible brown snake hanging around right near the front entrance to one of the main sections.

[00:05:03]So, we're going to head out there and have a good look for it, see if we can find it. I believe one of the staff are keeping an eye either on the garden bed or at least the the area in which the snake was last seen. So, that's always helpful when people keep an eye on the snake for us, that's for sure.
