What's Going On Here?! | The Nursery Nurse Weekly Omnibus
Added:Evening.
Evening, Dorothy. You want me to change or do you want me to get your stuff out of your tray?
Has Winter already gone home?
Yes. Yes, he was on the early shift.
I swear he is never here for evening handovers with me anymore. Oh, sometimes it's just how the shift pattern works.
Although he didn't insist on the early.
So, has she had a good day? She had a very good morning, but then she could see she was really starting to crash in the afternoon. Winter did say this morning that you'd mentioned she had a bad night. Yes, it was the heat. She could barely sleep at all, not a wink, so I was up most of the night. Yeah, to be fair, I'd say for the last hour, maybe an hour and a half, she's really, really struggling. I think she just wants to go home and rest, bless her, because it's very overstimulating here.
Oh, poor love. Well, Dorothy, guess what Mommy's got at home for you. It might cheer you up.
I got you your favorite ice cream. Aw.
Right, give Charlotte a hug goodbye and we'll go.
Oh, that's okay if you don't want to, sweetheart. I know you're very tired.
What? Oh, no, no, no, no.
That's rude. Now, give Charlotte a hug goodbye, please.
Honestly, it's okay if she doesn't want to. She's been very, very unsettled, like I said, for the past hour. No, Dorothy, we are not going home to those sweets until you've given Charlotte a hug goodbye.
Really, it's okay. Like I said, she's been very overstimulated this past hour.
I don't think she wants anyone to touch her. No, there's no excuse for being rude. Right, Dorothy Perkins, if you do not give Charlotte a hug right now, I will take you home and I will eat those sweets myself right in front of you.
Oh, there we go, sweetheart. Well done.
There, see, Dorothy? That wasn't so hard. Right, out you go, please.
I'm ever so sorry about that, Charlotte.
I don't think she deserves to be rewarded for her rudeness. Please, give her the treat. Honestly, she's been a trooper this afternoon making it through, okay? I I think she really needs that. I'll think about it in the car. See you tomorrow.
Bye.
Now I see why Winter wanted the early shift. Okay, so I know we've been through everything, so you are aware that when I take her, she may cry a little. She's going to be wrapped. It's okay, that's exactly what the intake forms are for, so I know her favorite books, her stories, her favorite hymns, so I can sing to her, keep her distracted as much as possible. Okay. Oh my gosh, I'm her whole world. She is going to lose it when I leave. Well, why don't we start with you very, very gently and slowly just passing her over to me.
Okay.
Here we go.
Okay, that's it.
She's going to cry any second. Oh, she's looking at the pictures on the wall.
While she's distracted, why don't you just slip out? Okay, but she is going to scream when she sees I'm gone. Okay, try heading out now.
Okay.
That's it.
>> [sighs] >> Did you want to go and explore the room?
Yeah, sure, we can have a walk around.
Would you like to go to the book corner?
Are you okay there? Not really. I just dropped her in for her first day. Oh, bless her, is she crying? No, that's it, she's not crying. In fact, she's not the least bit bothered that I'm gone. Oh, that's fantastic. Honestly, 9 out of 10 kids cry on their first day. I just got to have a crier. What a brilliant start.
Why isn't she crying?
Maybe she just has a very secure attachment. Now, she'll be coming back.
No, that can't be cuz I'm her whole world. I'm her entire existence. You said 9 out of 10 babies cry, and there's mine. Just smiling at Charlotte. What's going on?
Parents normally hide it a lot better when they're upset their kids didn't cry.
How is she not screaming when the woman who she's been attached to for 8 months is no longer there?
Well, maybe she just hasn't realized I'm not there yet. Don't worry, I'm sure she'll get upset once she does. Well, let's find out, shall we?
All right. Fancy you doing so well.
Um Freya.
Um Freya.
Hello? Is everything okay? Yeah, it's fine. Can you just have her back for a second, please?
Yeah, of course. Here you are.
Here we are. Oh, look. Freya, look at Mommy. Yes, Mommy, here I am.
She wants the baby to cry.
Look, it's Mommy. I'm going to be going in a second.
Gosh, you uh you came in at just the right moment.
I did?
Yeah, she was about to erupt.
Oh, she was? Mhm. It was about to be Niagara Falls.
All right. She's got I was look like she was upset at all.
Oh, that's what always happens. They'll come in and for the first 5 or 10 minutes they're so distracted by everything else that they don't notice anything in their surroundings.
Right. Then after about 5 or 10 minutes, then they start to look around and then they realize that the most important person in their life is no longer there.
Mhm.
Then the waterworks come and I feel like Freya was literally just about to burst into tears before you walked in. So, you came in in the nick of time.
Oh, okay. That makes sense.
Uh anyway, uh would you like me to take her from you? Sure. Okay. Right then.
Mommy loves you.
That's it.
So, while she's distracted again, if you want to head out. Okay. Yeah.
I will do. Bye-bye.
Bye.
>> [sighs] >> So, did Charlotte explain it to you?
>> Yes, she told me how for the first 5-10 minutes or so it's a distraction and they will cry, but she did say I came in right at the nick of time because she was just on the verge of tears.
>> Yay, so yes, that is correct. Yes.
She can think on her feet.
>> So, I'm just going to wait here for 5-10 minutes and as soon as I've seen her cry, I'll go.
>> Well, actually now that you've been back in to see her it's not only reset the clock, it's probably added a bit more time, so it's going to be a good half hour before she gets upset again.
>> Really? Oh my gosh, I don't have that long. I need to get to work.
>> Oh, well, you get off to work. I'll be here to witness her utter despair and heartbreak in about 30 minutes.
>> Oh, thank you. That's very sweet of you.
>> You're welcome.
Oh, school is going to be traumatizing for this kid.
>> Morning.
>> Good morning. Good morning, Axel. And oh, who do we have here?
>> Oh, this is my mother-in-law.
>> Hi, it's lovely to meet you.
>> I must be an absolute hoot to meet.
Everyone keeps telling me about how great it is to meet me.
>> [laughter] [clears throat] >> Oh, well, Axel, aren't you lucky to have Nanny come for a visit? Very long visit.
>> I'm staying for a week.
>> In our house. We did offer her a hotel, but she said no.
>> Oh, well, that will be lovely. Is there a special occasion?
>> Yes.
>> We're doing the gender reveal of my second grandbaby.
>> Oh, how lovely.
>> We weren't planning on doing a big gender reveal. We were happy to just find out at the scan.
>> No, nonsense. You have to make a fuss over these things. We have like 55 people coming, and it's even more special because they're Irish twins.
>> They're 14 months apart. They're not Irish twins.
>> Even so, maybe you just wait a little bit longer before you try for the next one.
>> I don't know it's heart, burner, rage, or I just need to pee, but is it okay if I use your bathroom? Of course, it's down the hall on your left. Right.
So, that will be exciting. All the family together to find out what the grand baby will be.
Well, actually, Mhm?
they are going to the balloon shop at 2:00 to collect what they think is the gender reveal balloon.
What they think? So, it's not? No.
Because I will be there an hour earlier, and I'm going to swap the balloon, so their one only has white confetti in it, and it will be me who actually reveals the gender of the baby.
Oh my god. And all my friends and family will be there. Oh, hush now. Here comes Chrissy. Don't tell her.
>> [sighs] >> Right.
Ready to go? Yes, let's go.
Bye.
Sasha, thank god. I have a huge dilemma.
I just signed the pre-nup. You're not going to do better than me. But there is no It's about Axel's nan.
What about her? So, Axel's family are doing a gender reveal this weekend.
That's why nan's in town.
Can I already see Madison home free reenacting this one?
From what I found out this morning, she may very well do.
Why? What is it what you find out?
Whilst Axel's mum was in the loo, the nan said to me that she has secretly swapping out the balloons, so that she is the one to reveal the gender on Saturday, not mum and dad. Oh, [gasps] stop.
The thing is they didn't even want to do a gender reveal. They wanted to find out intimately, just the two of them in doctor's office. It was nan pushing for this, and now I realize it's because she wants to make it all about her. But you're going to have to tell Axel's mum.
Isn't that a little bit awkward? Not half as awkward as it's going to be for Axel's mum when she's just stood there with a dodge balloon, and her mother-in-law is running around taking all the credit. You're right. You're right. Okay, when she comes in this evening to collect Axel, I'll tell her.
>> Okay, and if the nans were there, I'll try and keep her distracted.
>> Okay, just play to her ego.
>> Hi.
>> Evening.
>> Hello again.
>> Hello.
Oh my god, is this the famous nan we've been hearing all about?
>> Me?
Oh, stop.
>> Yeah, Charlie's been raving about how great you are, you famous nan. Actually, come over here and talk to me all about life.
>> Okay, gosh, it's tough being me.
>> Okay.
>> So, how's Axel been today? We don't have much time. Your mother-in-law is going to hijack the gender reveal this weekend by swapping out the balloons in secret, and she is going to be the one to reveal the gender, not you. I'm so sorry to tell you this, I feel sick.
Oh.
I just thought you should know.
>> Thank you.
>> Morning.
>> Good morning. How was the gender reveal at the weekend?
>> Well, I wouldn't know, I wasn't there.
>> Oh.
If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go talk to that Irish lady again.
>> She lost track of time going to all the balloon shops in the county trying to find our order.
What she didn't know is that we actually changed it to a cake, so she was going in the wrong shops. Oh, >> Yeah.
>> I have a show around I was supposed to do in 10 minutes, but I have so many observations I need to catch up on. Is there any way you could do it?
>> Yeah, sure, of course, that's fine.
>> Great, and you've seen me do them like a million times, so you know exactly what you're doing, right?
>> Yeah, it's a show around, so I see how much you show them around.
>> Yeah, answer any questions they have, and then obviously, you know, at the end of the show around you want to kind of nudge them to fill out the paperwork.
>> Okay, great, yeah, no problem.
>> Oh, great, thank you, you're a lifesaver. Oh, actually, they're a little bit early, but I I this is them walking down the car park right >> Okay, well, my three are asleep, so you've got plenty of time to be getting on with your observations.
>> Oh, great. Thank you.
>> Yeah, I owe you.
Hi, yeah. Are you here for the show round?
>> Oh my goodness. Um yes.
>> Lovely. Come on in.
>> Certainly.
>> Uh so uh it was supposed to be my colleague doing this, but uh she's unfortunately very busy today, so I'm taking over for her.
>> Very well.
>> Uh so how old is your little one?
>> My son's currently 6 months old, but I would like him to start at 8 months.
>> Oh, okay. So, that'll be in the baby room with me, then.
Oh, I see. Well, why don't we go start there?
>> Is it the kitchen?
>> Uh yeah, but I don't want that to be your first impression of us, so we'll we'll start here and we'll end there.
>> I think the first impressions have already been made.
>> Uh so, this is our baby room.
>> It's awfully quiet, isn't it?
>> Uh the babies are currently asleep, and my colleague's in the sleep room with them.
>> Okay.
>> Uh let's take you out to the garden.
>> Pardon the what?
>> Okay, so we normally come out here whatever the weather, >> Right.
>> unless the weather is extreme, i.e. the heat wave. However, we like to come out here every single day.
>> To the garden.
>> Right, moving on.
I'll take you down to our soft play room now.
>> Actually, that won't be necessary.
>> You just want to skip to the paperwork?
God, I'm good at this.
>> I do not intend to enroll my son here.
>> Oh, was Was there something wrong?
>> No, no. The setting itself is quite splendid. I just don't want um >> [clears throat] >> I don't want my son growing up talking with this accent.
>> Eh?
>> Children are heavily influenced by their surroundings, and he'd be learning a great deal of his speech here, and if he's surrounded by everybody speaking with an Irish accent >> Right, I I I'll just stop you right there. Um I'm the only one here who's Irish.
Despite what some people might say, but they really need to let go of that 1/16 from five generations ago. I I really am the only one here who's Irish who speaks with an Irish accent.
>> But you did say you'd be working in my child's class, correct?
>> Yes, that is correct.
>> Well, given how much time you'll be spending around my child, it stands to reason that they would mimic your speech. And honestly, I don't want my child talking like that.
>> Okay, in terms of this being offensive, we're definitely circling the drain.
>> There's absolutely no offense meant towards you or your accent or peoples.
>> Peoples?
>> But obviously, I would prefer my child to grow up talking like myself.
>> Yeah, okay. That's probably not going to happen.
>> Of course not, because you don't talk like me.
>> No.
It's because no one here talks like you.
>> Do they not?
>> No.
I mean, there's one or two who, you know, come close, but if you're looking for an entire building of people who talk like you, >> [laughter] >> you're not going to find it in child care, okay? We're in different tax brackets.
>> Well, perhaps it's not the worst thing in the world for Tarquin to join a setting where there's perhaps a more diverse group of people.
>> Honestly, diversity is what's going to make your child's mind broaden, okay?
You can learn more from people and their way of life than you can from anything from a book.
>> And to be frank, Tarquin does come from a very privileged background.
>> I would have bet my life on that fact, yeah.
>> Perhaps coming here will give him a bit more life experience and broaden his mind, you know? I think we all need to slum it sometimes.
>> Okay, that drain of offense we were circling, we've just gone straight down into it.
>> You have no I meant no offense. What I meant is, this might be a good way for Tarquin to learn how to blend in a bit more with usual folk.
>> Yeah, well, he's definitely going to be paddling upstream with a name like Tarquin.
Morning, Charlie.
>> Good morning.
>> Ah, is this our new start?
>> Yep, this is Marissa.
>> Ah, you don't hear that name very often, do you? Ah, she's so cute.
>> Ah, she's just so adorable. I want to eat her all up.
>> Okay, calm down. I can actually hear your ovaries from over here.
>> With my energy levels, a new baby would have to fend for themselves from pretty much day one, okay? I'm tired all the time.
>> Right, I am exhausted all the time.
>> And you are like right in the trenches with a 2-year-old.
>> Ah, Charlie, you have to grow on ones.
When does it get easier?
>> I will let you know.
>> So, uh, what time does Marissa leave?
>> Mom says she's going to get here for around 5:00. I'll already be gone by then, so you okay to do handover for her?
>> Uh, yeah, sure, it's fine. Uh, I remember you taking her for a show around uh a few months ago, so I know what she looks like. So, I know what she looks like.
>> Okay. Oh, you're just so cute. I just want to take you home.
>> Charlotte, seriously, your ovaries are screaming at me.
>> You're going to do the same to her later. Mhm.
>> Okay, maybe Charlie was onto something cuz my god, are you cute.
>> All right, Saoirse.
>> Yeah?
>> Ooh, I can hear ovaries from over here.
Um, just so you know, I've let Marissa's mommy into the building. Uh, she's just using the loo, but I didn't know if you'd already met each other.
>> Uh, I saw her once on a show around, but I've never actually met her.
>> Okay, well, I wasn't sure, so I thought I'd just come and let you know in case you didn't know who she was, but she's on her way now.
>> Okay. Oh my god, she's so cute.
>> Okay, I'm going to go because I'm being deafened to death by your ovaries screaming at me.
>> Oh, you're just so adorable. You're making me want another one. No. No. Yes. No.
>> Good evening.
>> Hi, good evening. Uh, you must be Marissa's mom.
>> Yes.
>> Hi, nice to meet you. I'm Saoirse. Get off my baby.
>> Oh.
Excuse me?
>> I will not have my child raised by a drunken savage.
>> A what?
>> Excuse me.
Yes. I wish to withdraw Marissa from this setting immediately.
>> Is Marissa's first day? Oh my goodness, has something happened?
>> It's more about what hasn't happened.
You did not tell me you have an Irish savage working here.
>> Whoa, whoa, whoa.
I beg your pardon?
>> The Irish one. Why wasn't I informed that she works here?
>> Okay, I appear to be missing the point by a clear mile. Why on earth would I have to tell you that somebody Irish works here?
>> Because Irish are not capable of the patience and gentleness it takes to care for a child.
>> I am never speechless, but I I I have no words for what you are saying to me right now.
>> Well, I think an apology would be in order right now. You expect me to leave my child with some drunk?
>> Drunk? I'm sorry.
Siobhan is not drunk. What are you talking about?
>> She's Irish. They're always drunk.
>> Okay, I don't know what century you've traveled from, okay? Because you haven't just stumbled into some inn with barrels of beer everywhere, okay? This is a child care setting, and she is one of the most competent staff members I have.
>> She is Irish, and we are in England, okay? English children should be taught by English people.
>> You think she's going to teach your child to walk backwards instead of forwards? How on earth is her teaching method any different to anyone else?
>> Well, she'll never be able to teach my child to walk because she'll be too busy stumbling around intoxicated herself.
>> Okay, have you just never met an Irish person in your whole life, and instead you're getting all your information from some wiki page written by some xenophobe?
>> I have met plenty of Irish people, and I can assure you they were all drinking.
>> And did you happen to meet these people in a pub?
>> Yes.
>> Oh my Christ.
>> So, I'll be pulling Marissa out, and I want that deposit back as well.
>> Do you know what? You can have it, because you're not leaving. We are getting rid of you.
>> No, I'm leaving.
>> No, I'm asking you to leave, because I have never had my staff member spoken about so disrespectfully until today.
>> Well, I've never known a child care setting to place children in the care of a drunk hooligan.
>> Do you know what? I've said this before, and I will say it again.
Your vote cannot possibly count as much as mine.
Marjorie.
Mandy. Hello. What can I do for you? I need to talk to you about something that is of grave urgency.
Okay.
It's about Polly's hat. Yeah, I knew grave urgency meant something different to the two of us.
Um, what about Polly's hat? Two days ago, she came home without her hat. So, what puts into the parents WhatsApp group, has anybody seen Polly's hat? Right. It is a blue hat with yellow flowers on.
Okay. Then yesterday, Tina walks in wearing a blue hat with yellow flowers. I see. You think that's Polly's hat? No.
I know it is Polly's hat. Was it labeled? Marjorie, of course it was labeled. This is not my first rodeo. I label everything right down to her hair clips. To be fair, Polly has never lost a sock. Um, okay. So, did you get the hat back?
Because when I inquired about the hat, Tina's mom said it was hers. So, did you ask her to show you the label inside?
Yes, and would you believe it? It had been ripped out.
I see. So, now that Tina is parading around in my Polly's hat, and there is no way to prove it is not hers. Okay.
Well, are you sure she didn't simply just have the same hat? Absolutely. Do you think it's a coincidence she just turns up the day after Polly loses her hat in the exact same hat? Well, I mean, is she know for a fact she didn't already have the hat before Polly's went missing? She did not have that hat prior to this. Okay? I want to see the CCTV of Tina walking in every single day, and you will see she never wore that hat.
Yeah, we we really don't use the CCTV for those purposes. And even if Tina hadn't been wearing the hat prior, it doesn't prove that she didn't go out and buy the hat. Yesterday, she walked in with it at 7:35 in the morning. You expect me to believe she found a shop open that early?
>> Well, then maybe she bought it the evening before.
>> Tina did not come in one day during that heat wave wearing a hat, okay? I saw her with the nursery spares, and now you expect me to believe the temperature's dropped and now they've bought it.
>> Look, I am sorry that the hat has gone missing. However, we cannot go pointing the finger at parents if we have no proof.
>> I should have known you'd have no power in this situation, so I intend to take it further.
Take it further where?
Oh, hey.
What are you doing here?
>> [sighs and gasps] >> I'm here to find Polly's hat.
>> Seriously, Ships, this isn't exactly a head office issue, okay? It's a hat.
>> Marjorie, this isn't about a hat. Oh, what is about what the hat represents.
Yes.
>> Okay, seriously, Ships, what is going on, okay? Because when I thought I'd broken my leg and I called you for help, you told me to get a taxi to the hospital, but you're here to find a hat?
>> Tina has an older brother who plays on a football team that plays against Henry and Jamie's.
>> Right.
>> And over the weekend, our team won against their team, and Tina's mom became very upset.
>> And so, what, you think she's concocted this entire plot to steal the hat of a sister of one of the players of the opposing team?
>> Yes.
>> Ships, don't be ridiculous. Such nonsense. How can you buy into this?
>> Marjorie, until you've encountered soccer moms, you have absolutely no idea who you're dealing with.
>> I'm sorry, okay? This is ridiculous, okay? It's a hat. You're in here at 7:30 in the morning checking CCTV for a hat.
>> And it's a good thing I did. Look.
>> Oh, what, is Tina's mom sat on a twirling chair in the car park stroking a cat with an evil laugh?
>> No, but she is quite clearly tearing the tag out of that hat and throwing it in the bush.
>> Well, maybe it was a brand new hat.
She's just tearing the tag out, okay?
The worst crime there is the littering.
>> I'll be right back.
>> I couldn't get you to come down here when all the electricity went off and we had to eat out of cans, but for this you show up? Let me guess, you found nothing.
>> I found the torn-out label with Polly's name on it, right in the bush where she threw it.
>> No.
I just knew it. I could tell by her eyes at the match on Saturday when she looked she was going to do something, but I never thought she'd stoop so low as to steal from a child.
>> I think she was still salty about the fact that your brownies tasted better than hers.
>> Well, the bar was very low. All mine had to do was just not give everyone food poisoning.
>> Marjorie, when Tina comes in, take that hat and write Polly's name in permanent marker.
She can't tear that out.
>> Well, after this I think the only thing she's going to be tearing out is her own hair.
What's happening? Right, I must go.
Thank you, Siobhan. I knew escalating this would get results.
>> No problem. I'll see you pitch-side Saturday.
>> I'll bring the first-aid kit, I always.
I'm sorry.
Since when do you laugh?
>> Hello, you're here for the show round?
>> Uh yeah, that's right.
>> Great, my name's Charlotte.
>> Hi, I'm Tanya.
>> Hi Tanya, I understand you're interested in the preschool room.
>> Yes, my little one is about to turn three.
>> Great, well, follow me and we'll go have a look.
>> Okay, great.
>> So, this is our preschool room.
>> Um okay, yeah, it's actually quite nice.
>> So, we have loads of different areas of learning >> Wait, sorry. What's that?
>> Oh, that's a tablet.
>> Okay, no, sorry, we have to stop right now.
>> Okay.
>> I don't want my child getting loads and loads of screen time.
>> Oh, no, they wouldn't.
>> No, sorry, I just have to say this because it's really important, okay? I don't want my child to get loads and loads of screen time, okay? I want them to be able to learn, and whilst I know this isn't like a class classroom, I want it to be treated as such. So, I want them to work on their handwriting, on their reading skills. I don't want them to just get loads and loads of screen time because then when it comes to the weekend and we want to watch a movie together, I'm going to feel like I can't do that because they've had screen time during the day, okay? If they're going to have screen time, I want it to be with me, their mother, at the weekend, okay? If they're going to watch a movie, I want to watch the movie with them, okay? So, I want their screen times to be reserved when they are with me. This is a place of learning, okay? I want them to learn. I want them to read.
I want them to write. I want them to actually learn about stuff, not just sit all day watching a screen, okay? Do you understand how important it is cuz it's like really, really important to me. So, okay? Do you get it? Yeah?
Um Winter?
Oh, well, you know, after we've spent 30 seconds or so practicing their handwriting on a chalkboard, and we teach them computer skills on a typewriter, uh we'll normally sit down for about three or four back-to-back Harry Potter movies. Yesterday was a slow day. We only got through two, but, you know, education first.
Yeah, immediately I know this setting is not for me, so I'm going to go. Thank you for your time.
Bye.
Yeah, I apologize, but I had to nip that in the bud. There's no way I'm dealing with that parent for the next 2 years.
Sasha, am I going out of my mind, or are resources in this room just going missing? No, you're not. I thought it was just me. Okay, there are toys going missing every single day.
Sasha, where are they going because it's not like the babies would know to just pick them up and walk out with them. And it's not toddlers. They've not borrowed out neither. I spoke to them, so it's going somewhere.
I just I don't understand what is happening to all these toys. They're just going missing.
Evening.
Good evening. Lucinda, your mommy's here. Is it okay that I've got Jack with me? It's just I don't like to take Lucinda into the preschool room to collect him because it's so manic in there. I prefer to bring him in here. Of course, that's absolutely fine. Great.
So, how's Lucinda been? Oh, she's great.
She had a superb nap earlier.
>> I did see that on the daily diary. I My god, 2 and 1/2 hours.
>> Yes, she was so tired. It must have been the heat.
>> Oh, well, I'm really glad she napped so well. Right, Lucinda, come on, Jack.
Let's go. Bye.
>> Bye.
>> Charlie, I know who our toy thief is.
>> Who?
>> It's Jack. While Mom was distracted talking to you, he shoved a teddy up his top.
>> That makes so much sense. She's been bringing him in for the past 2 weeks to do all the handovers.
>> Yeah, well, that little rascal has been taking stuff while nobody's looking.
>> Okay, well, um I'll talk to Mom about it, and we'll just have to bring that up in a very, very delicate way because nobody wants to hear that their child's stealing.
>> Oh, sorry. I forgot Lucinda's hat.
>> Did you know your kid's been robbing us for the past 2 weeks?
>> Or a less delicate approach.
>> Sorry?
>> For the past 2 weeks, all the babies' toys have been going missing. I just noticed Jack shove a teddy up his top before he left.
>> Oh, and Jack, come here, please.
What have you got under your top?
Does that belong to the nursery?
>> Yes, thank you.
>> Jack, um you might have one or two other things at home that you've taken over the past 2 weeks.
>> And you will get them all back. Jack, you get no TV privileges for 3 months.
You get no dessert or treats for 3 months, okay? I'm absolutely disgusted by this. I'm ever so sorry.
>> Honestly, children will just pick stuff up. What is it's not that >> big a deal?
>> No, it absolutely is. I'm not raising a thief. In addition to everything I've just said, you will have absolutely no playtimes, and your chores will be doubled, and then after that, you are just going to be banished to your room, where I'm going to remove every single toy of yours.
>> Again, I do apologize.
>> Honestly, it's no big deal, you know.
It's just a few toys, that's all.
>> Thank you for bringing this to my attention because he will never steal from this nursery ever again.
>> Uh truth be told, I think you've scared him away from crying for the rest of his life.
>> [clears throat] >> Morning.
Oh, hey Lottie.
Why the long face?
>> Because I have to work with you today.
>> I work like 2 days a week. You barely see me here.
>> And yet somehow I have to look at your stupid face for the next 8 hours.
>> Ouch. I look exactly like Mom. I'm going to tell her you said that.
>> Hi, good morning. Go on in, sweetie.
>> Hi, um morning, Becky.
>> Good morning, Ben. How are you?
>> Uh yeah, good. Thank you. Oh, I took your advice, watched Black Mirror over the weekend. Absolutely hooked.
>> Oh my god, it's an awesome show, right?
>> It's so good. I can't believe I never watched it before.
>> Big question though, what is your favorite episode?
>> Okay, so if I was talking to my guy friends, I would have definitely said USS Callister.
>> Right, but you're not talking to your guy friends.
>> Hang the DJ. Is it really lame of me to say that the love story is my favorite?
>> It's not lame. That just means you have good taste because that is my favorite episode, too.
>> Isn't that the episode San Junipero? Um where there's two people who are meant to be together, but they're actually pulled apart by extenuating circumstances, but they're actually meant for one another?
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Interesting.
Anyway, uh let me know how you get on with your Black Mirror journey. It's quite a ride.
>> Will do, and um good luck with [clears throat] your presentation today.
You're going to smash it.
>> Thanks. Um have a great day.
>> Bye.
>> Uh sorry, since nobody asked, um is Audrey okay today?
>> Oh my god, um yeah, Audrey's fine. Yeah, she just needs some breakfast, but she's fine.
>> Right, yeah, yeah. I'll um get her some breakfast.
>> Bye.
>> Bye.
>> Ben, is that >> Charlotte, I've asked Marjorie to swap places with you, so you're going to be working in the toddler room today, and I'm going to be working in here with Ben.
>> Oh, Oh, well.
You don't have to look at my stupid face anymore.
Mhm.
Instead, I get to keep an eye on you all day.
