They Use Native Black American Culture to Climb—Here’s the Truth

[00:00:00]I it it kind of made me sad. Sad and angry at the same time because a lot of people uh think, you know, Black American culture is, you know, for everybody to come and steal. And then they come steal Black American culture and then they will turn around and say that no, Black Americans do not have culture. And I had said that in the panel you and I were together in, right?

[00:00:26]>> You definitely said the same thing when we were on that panel together uh that you found it interesting that you see so many Africans trying to, you know, mimic Black culture and talk like us and act like us and listen to our music, but at the same time they claim we have no culture at all, right?

[00:00:42]>> Well, blackness is intimately linked to Black Americans. And when you disrespect Black Americans, you are disrespecting blackness. And I do not even know why there are so many immigrant Black immigrants who want to attack Black Americans. There is this feeling that, you know, this belief that, you know, you could get up by attacking Black Americans. But what you are doing is actually attacking blackness, which is bad for us because whatever bad thing is associated with Black Americans is also associated with other Black groups, right?

[00:01:17]>> Did you say that um Africans have some kind of reward system for going against Black Americans? They think it'll make them successful or something by going against us? I I do. Not just Africans, every group that comes to America, every new immigrant group tries to, you know, to go up the ladder by being anti-black.

[00:01:38]This is not something new, right?

[00:01:40]Irish people were not considered black I mean, were not considered white, right?

[00:01:45]Yeah. They become white by becoming anti-black. Italians were not considered black. They become I mean, were not considered white. They become white by becoming anti-black, right? Right now they say the most anti-black groups are Irish Americans and Italian Americans.

[00:02:03]So every group tries to get their leg up, I guess, by being anti-black, right?

[00:02:09]>> It's almost like that's the way to prove their loyalty to the white supremacists by actively disenfranchising black people. Being anti-black doesn't really harm them, right? Cuz they're not going to ask them to be white. So it doesn't harm them to be anti-black. But for us it might help us right now, but it's going to harm our right? Do you know what I mean?
