Update on weakening storms in metro Atlanta, north Georgia

[00:00:00]We continue to see encouraging signs about our storm threat for the overnight hours. As I was telling you tonight at 4, 5, and 6:00 and on my previous video here on social media, the cooler air that we had today with highs only in the 60s is not only cooler, but it was more stable air. And we were expecting to see these storms weakening somewhat as they move closer to us. We are now seeing evidence of that as these storms push through Alabama. They've been weakening into Alabama. They continue to weaken moving into Georgia. So, what we've been saying all along is we need some rain.

[00:00:39]We're still going to get that tonight, but the severe weather risk during the overnight hours tonight while you're sleeping is still very, very low. Now, don't be surprised if you still hear some rumbles of thunder and flashes of lightning or maybe have some gusty winds and pockets of moderate to heavy rain, but we don't think that this is going to be much of a severe weather event at all. So, enjoy listening to that rain soaking into the ground because this is what we need, more rain moving through.
