The Henry Nowak case highlights critical issues in police accountability and justice, where a 16-year-old boy was arrested and died in handcuffs after allegedly attacking a man who had asked if he could carry a knife; the speaker, a stabbing victim 20 years ago, draws parallels between his own experience and the case, emphasizing that police officers must remain impartial and investigate claims of violence rather than dismissing them or arriving with predetermined conclusions, and that the case raises questions about gaslighting and racial bias in law enforcement.

I Was Stabbed. Here’s What I Think About the Henry Nowak Case.Added:
So, 20 years ago, I got stabbed in Guildford in Surrey.
I was with three of my mates. We were going to a nightclub.
Um I said one thing to a guy that was passing us with his girlfriend.
He turned around as if he wanted to fight us.
Um he came in, went low, which was a bit strange. Um looking back on it, obviously.
Um he stabbed me on my side, on my back.
Didn't get any organs. Um he ran away. [music] His girlfriend was crying. Didn't realize until later that was why she was crying, because he said he was obviously going to stab me.
Um so, it's all sort of having a lot of uh rings with me with Henry Novak.
Um I didn't go to hospital. I didn't go to the police.
It wasn't [clears throat] bad enough.
Well, at least I didn't think it was bad enough. So, we actually used gaffer tape to uh heal my wounds. I could put up a key screenshot of the scars I've got.
I don't have [music] any stitch marks, obviously, cuz I put gaffer tape on it.
Um but yeah, it was pretty pretty serious looking back on it.
But it just made me think about Henry Novak.
I watched the video this morning. I didn't want to watch it.
I thought twice about watching it. I've got a 17-year-old son, well, 16 and a half, nearly 17.
I didn't want to watch it.
Um I did watch it.
And it brought tears to my eyes.
And even now, talking about it, seeing that young lad being arrested [music] and the officer saying, when Henry said, "I've been stabbed."
[music] He said, "What did he say?"
Don't think [music] you have, mate.
Police officers [music] are supposed to be impartial.
If you're a police officer and someone says [music] you've been stabbed, don't just dismiss it. Check.
The only thing he was guilty of was asking the guy if he he was [music] allowed to carry a knife with his belt on a knife on his belt.
So, he attacked [music] him.
Realized what he did, his brother phoned the police, gaslit the police, said it was a racial attack. The police turned up preloaded, predetermined conclusions.
>> [snorts] >> Arrested him. He died in handcuffs.
The whole thing stinks. I know
