Eurobrady brilliantly demonstrates how validating survival instincts rather than reliving trauma can restore a person's sense of agency and self-worth. This approach provides a sophisticated yet accessible framework for understanding resilience without the burden of shame.

THIS is how I'm going to keep everyone SAFE - Therapist Plays No I'm Not A Human - 3Added:
Hello and welcome back to Therapist Plays. No, I'm not a human. Okay, it's time to make some decisions. Some tough decisions. Someone in this house is a visitor. Possibly more than one because people are dying. Okay, and the longer that this goes on, the more insane we're becoming. So, we're going to investigate them. However, just before we do so, I got a question you all for us to explore, which is what do you do to help a person like our protagonist here? Like the situation that he is in is it's miserable. Okay, it's terrible. The choices you have are basically do nothing and people die or you decide on very like vague information to kill people who may or may not be a threat to you.
and which regardless of whether it's the correct decision, we've made one correct decision so far and it still left us with a ton of emotional damage as would blowing off the head of anything.
So, what do you do like therapeutically?
I'm kind of curious what um people would come up with post whatever the result of this horrible little adventure is. Um, how do you help someone like this who was in a deep state of depression and had to make increasingly difficult decisions uh in that depression? Well, if you know something about therapy, you probably understand it as a way of unpacking and processing things um with the goal of developing new insight around them and and that sort of thing.
But like this is an extreme situation, okay? And u we would be left with some quite severe trauma from it.
I'm willing to bet anyways. And so your approach has to be quite different than maybe like sort of the average uh therapeutic situation where where you're mostly doing that processing, unpacking things where where discussing the event doesn't like completely mess you up just by reliving it. Working with trauma is kind of unique and uh this is just the approach that I have learned. It is not a one-sizefits-all situation. All kinds of ways to address this kind of stuff, but here's what I would do. Okay. The thing is, if I were to meet someone like the protagonist, and you bring them into the therapeutic setting, which is a safe setting, you know, calm uh clinical environment, then it's likely you're meeting them when they're in a calm state of mind and they can think rationally about their experiences, right? Therapy is supposed to be a safe environment. And to do therapeutic work, you need to like do quite a lot of metacognition, like thinking about your own thoughts, accessing memories, etc. And the challenge with trauma work is that the mood and the state of mind that you're in presently can affect the memories you have about an event. And so if we're sitting there and we're calm and we're rational and and we have more of a dynamic view of ourel in the situation posttraumatic event, then sometimes when you look back at the event and say, "Yeah, I was in this horrible nightmare situation where I was like killing people or I was going to be killed and I didn't know who was a human or not." What can happen from that if you just start trying to go through it and process it the typical way is that those memories can be edited with the present state of mind.
and we will take our rationale in and you can end up sort of looking back at what was a moment where you had basically no rationale like this was a terrible situation. We don't have all the information. We're extremely disregulated. Like it's very hard to make good decisions here. And you might walk into those memories assuming you had the rationale that you do now. And this can be quite a disruptive process actually because now I'm looking back and saying, "Oh, I really should have known better. It was obvious that the cold I thought they were a cold gal.
Many of you let me know that they are a cold gentleman. So, thank you. Uh, it was obvious that the cold gentleman was a visitor.
Like, as I've demonstrated, we're in a pretty, you know, disturbed state of mind right now with all the depression and horrific imagery. It's very hard to sort out your feelings from like what's objectively a good decision. But later in a calm and rational state of mind, you could sort of fall into this trap of assuming you should have known better back then because now you have the hindsight, now you're in this rational state and that can be very shameful. You can induce shame and guilt into a scenario where we were just doing our best with the information that we have.
So that is why it is not necessarily the best idea to just you know sit down in a calm clinical environment and revisit the bad events and try to unpack them because you may actually sort of retraumatize the person and make them feel worse about the decisions that they made. And this actually is a common story from people who have described to me why therapy hasn't worked for them is because they felt like, okay, well, yeah, I sat down with someone, a stranger, someone I barely just met. And uh we focused intensely on the worst thing that ever happened to me. And uh not only did I not get better from that process, but I actually ended up feeling worse.
Now, imagine that. Therapy that makes you feel worse. It's a tragedy. should never happen. So that is not what I would do with uh this individual.
Instead, I want to use this calm and rational state of mind that they are presently in in the therapeutic setting as an advantage, not a detriment. And so the pursuit of insight would not necessarily be on specifically the bad things that happened and what the results were. It would be how did you adapt to the situation?
The starting point is, okay, uh, I blew someone's [ __ ] head off and it scarred me for life. And how did I respond to that in a way that helped regulate me, make me feel better, whatever. What was the process that followed the traumatic experience that we used to cope with it? Because by the nature of trauma and stress and how it affects memories, like the memory is saturated already with the severe event, it's really not all that necessary for them to relive it in excruciating detail. They already know it. They're probably having nightmares about it. But there are many things lost in the recall which are the points of adaptability. Like how did we survive the trauma and how did we you know change from it hopefully in some positive direction like maybe um you know this raised our standard of humanity or uh it helped us clarify what sympathizing with people is or um it showed me you know the value of human connection or whatever. Like you're you're looking for the adaptive results of a traumatic experience because those need to be reattached to a person. They are lost usually in a traumatic event.
We're mostly saturated with the bad thing and how it destroyed us. You don't need to reattach that. It's already you know bolted on to the person's life and emotions. Okay. So we would focus on what the person did to adapt to it. Now what this is going to also result in over time as you reattach those parts of the memory is infusing some level of self-esteem uh and and recognition of competence to a moment in their life where we feel out of control, incompetent, shameful, guilty, all the rest. And so maybe, you know, as we go I'll talk a little bit more about like the actual dialogue and techniques and stuff, but that's the general thread. Okay. It's not going to help this person to sit them down and, you know, just make them relive the worst [ __ ] moment of their life. It's It's going to make them feel worse. It's going to make them feel worse than having already lived through it because now we're sort of reinforcing shameful ideas about how we should have known better because we're we're editing past memories with present rationale.
That's That's not helpful. That's not helpful at all. So, uh, yeah, that would be how I start to help this person.
Unfortunately, unfortunately, we're not there yet. We're nowhere near there yet. Okay, we're still in the bad moment.
And uh well, the main thing that I learned from the last episode as the protagonist as I think about uh the severity of the consequences of my action is that there's one thing that I can do which so far I've not seen have any consequences.
I learned that it takes energy to test someone and then I have a choice of whether I can brandish my firearm. But if I don't go through with blasting away, nothing happens.
Nothing happens.
The human visitor, they just go about, you know, the rest of their day and uh they don't attack me. There's no immediate consequence. You know, that that is a that is a gem of insight to gleam from my last stressful encounter with the cold gentleman. Now, I'm going to use it. I am going to use it to its full advantage cuz right now I don't have many friends in this situation and I don't have very many um resources. But that is the one thing that I can use.
So, you know what? I'm just going to [ __ ] go for it. I'm just going to go up to everyone and I'm just going to see what happens. And I'm going to start with this intimate little pair of gentlemen here. I'm listening. Human speak. Let's gather some intel. Are you a member of some faith? Yes, human. But my faith is nothing like the lowly religions you know. I worship the holy sun itself. She protects and she loves us.
But the imbeciles and she only see it as a threat. They think it will incinerate us all. [ __ ] Its righteous anger is directed solely at the seeds of evil heretics. They are the true sinners. May those who descent never find themselves beneath its scorching rays of salvation. Okay, so this is a man with conviction. I don't know if that's a sign of a visitor or not, but if he's trying to convince me that he's a human and he's using his extremist view on faith as a way to convince me that that's a very human thing to do, well, we're going to find out when you're staring down the barrel of a [ __ ] shotgun, aren't we? They seek out the flames and are surprised when they find themselves burned. Tell me about these heretics. You heard right, human. FEMA and damned heretics. Oh, okay. Wait a second.
What does he think about FEMA? They interfere in processes that are beyond our control, the control of regular people. They stick their noses where they don't belong. Well, he's kind of speaking sense, actually.
May the sun incinerate the beamless [ __ ] who threw my mother into that puddle.
Okay.
I actually I love how much the conversations with these characters stop just sort of like making a full coherent story. Like it's not a natural end to a conversation and that's kind of offputting in a brilliant way.
All right, now for the real test. What do you want to check? Well, um, we've taken a look at teeth and hands. Look at those eyes.
man who loves the sun so much. He's probably He's probably snuck a peek or two at it. Look into my dark eyes. I use them to absorb all the benefits of the righteous beams, transforming them into energy. I get all of my energy through my eyes.
Okay.
I don't know. I mean, that's a bit off-putting.
It makes me a bit queasy, but I don't know if they were like as bloodshot as the TV said. Have you seen the righteous power of the sun in my eyes? If not, you're blind. Try gazing into the sun for longer like me. Okay. Yeah, he's literally looking at the sun. But, uh, you know, all this could have been a [ __ ] facade. Let's find out who you really are. Let's see how much conviction you really have when it's [ __ ] life or death, friend.
Come human. Why must we do this? You've gone shadow mad. Unenlightened one. An eye for an eye, they say. But then they'll shoot your ass for a couple of them.
He's not trying to defend himself.
He's sticking to his story. We're at a bit of a standill, are we?
I'll let you go for now, friend. Just remember, I have the power here.
Don't stick your eyes in someone else's business, they say. So, what am I supposed to do? Look away forever. Oh, wait. Was it nose? One sec. Hold on.
I don't give a [ __ ] What?
Okay. Um, maybe I didn't learn as much from that little exercise as I thought.
What about this guy? What if I point a gun in your face? If only I could get out of this place. Why didn't you leave earlier? I told you there was always something in the way. One thing after another. Besides, I thought now was the perfect time to travel. Finally get some sun on my skin. If I had known things would turn out like this, I'd have gone sooner. Seen the world while I still could. Now I'll only ever see it in pictures. All those countries gone to hell.
Okay. Yeah. Look, it doesn't matter what you tell me anymore, okay? The only way I could determine whether you're a human or not is how scared you get when I pull out the shotty.
You think I'm infected? I don't know, friend. I bet your eyes are probably fine with those uh shades that you've got on. Let's check those teeth. You mean teeth can show if I I caught the virus.
Well, if it helps.
This is not a good sign, friend.
I don't like your chances.
Straight, huh? Dentists back home don't charge much.
So as the individual helping our protagonist here, this would be one of the moments where the decision that we made really right or wrong is likely to leave some scars. And so what is probably lost in this moment is really even if it's just a crumb of competence and trust in our own intuition to use the limited information that we have to save the most amount of people including oursel.
We are in a mode of natural self-preservation in a sense of utilitarianism.
The most good for the most amount of people that we can manage. We were never assigned by any sort of divine right permission to make decisions of life or death. It's not something that we asked for, weren't trained for.
Who is really?
It's just the situation that we're in.
Godamn it.
What is it? What's wrong? You know what, friend? I don't like the stink face that you're making.
I see the other guy. He was fine being confronted with his own mortality.
That's a person who's found himself in life. Found something to live for.
Meaningful. Can a visitor do that? I don't know.
So far, all I know about you is that you're displeased with your vacation.
Maybe you just couldn't come up with a convincing enough human argument. In this case, it wasn't enough.
I just I'm not prepared for this. Damn. I never did.
No.
Oh my god.
My god.
This man has no comment on what just took place in front of him.
Uh, okay.
This is exactly why I, as the therapist, would not ask the protagonist.
So, what was it like to shoot that human and to know that you basically had a what are there? Four people in the house, one in four chance of getting it right and you got it wrong because that is the moment where the fear of incompetence, the fear of am I losing my humanity? Am I a good judge of character? Do my own morals and values matter at all when I'm put in a crisis or do I become, you know, inhuman? Am I doing anything of value at all in this situation? Or am I actually causing harm in it? Right? Those are all the things that I can imagine being left with after that.
So that is why it's not really preferable to just make someone relive the trauma that they've experienced. If this person has any chance of restoring a sense of self-esteem and competence, you know, after they have survived an awful situation like this, that restoration is going to take place in reattaching them to the narrative of how did they get through it?
Not on why it happened, what was so bad about it, how did the bad thing make you feel. And uh there can be value in the reprocessing and you know revisitation of a moment like this. But you have to go into that process knowing as best you can that the person will survive revisiting it. And if we've done no work up front to make this person feel competent in the way that they've survived and has some inbuilt esteem that we've reattached, then revisiting the bad thing is just likely to make them feel worse. So the problem with a lot of therapy is not that it, you know, focuses on reliving and revisiting trauma. It's that you have to do the work up front to make sure that the person is stable enough emotionally and physiologically to endure that process if it's something even necessary to do. In my experience, focusing on the moments of adaptability and how reattaching those kind of completes the story line in a way, but ultimately helps to encourage the person that, you know, you really didn't have all that much rationale in a situation like this. It's like we checked his teeth, they were white. The only point of evidence that we can actually rely on because we're skeptical of FEMA, we're skeptical of, you know, the news broadcast is that we check the cashier. She had pearly whites. She was a visitor.
It stands to reason, right, rationally, that uh this guy would be too, but he wasn't.
And now we're even more confused, even more in doubt of our qualifications to make these decisions. And so I could easily see us being left with that narrative, you know, uh, I should have known better. I should have known better. I knew not to trust that new organization. But like we didn't know that here.
We learn that after the fact when we have done some of our own recollection.
Nothing is ever going to remove a traumatic event from someone's memory.
That's not the goal. It's not to convince them that it was okay either.
This process that I'm describing is about reattaching the aspects that are left behind really when we saturate ourselves on the moral and practical failings of how we behaved inside the crisis.
And uh one of the things that we're going to do to adapt to this situation in a moment of confusion and isolation is we're going to reach out to our friend. Okay, this is one of the things that usually gets left behind in the trauma narrative is a lot of times people's first reaction is to reach out and connect. When I ask someone, what was the first thing that you did after you know this horrible thing? So many times the answer is well I called my mom. I called my friend. I I tried to, you know, get in touch with someone who could help me or just listen to me or or something like that's a powerful human thing in a moment where we're feeling very much not like a human ourselves because we just [ __ ] blew one away cuz they took care of their hygiene.
It's a very human thing to reach out to someone when you're feeling lost. And that is the first thing that we're going to do is I got to call the neighbor. I gota neighbor.
He has been so far a very stable figure in this whole nightmare. And uh I could really use his encouragement right now.
Hey neighbor. Thanks for calling.
Honestly, I'm still shaken up by all this murderers, soldiers, FEMA. They even showed up at my door last night.
Asked about the people staying here, scribbled something on a tablet, and then one of them took someone out of my house.
Uh, yeah. Where did they take them? Oh, if I know they said it was for tests. I thought all these soldiers and government officials would fix things.
should have known better than to think they'd help us or get us to a safe place.
What is FEMA?
I don't know. Nobody really knows much about them. They came out of nowhere acting like they've got everything under control. But how do they even spot the signs when they're all just normal human traits? [ __ ] neighbor, man. He is on top of things. So again, first line of questioning would be, what was the first thing that you did after that trauma happened? I reached out for connection.
I reached out to the neighbor, someone I knew I could trust. I accessed, you know, what felt like a helpful resource to me. Then I would ask, "How did that change things for you?" Well, I felt somewhat more calm because he said that he didn't trust FEMA and and I was feeling that, too.
This allowed me to feel a little less paranoid because, you know, I'm I'm doubting what I'm seeing. I was wondering if I had an understanding of anything because I just made this awful, horrible mistake of shooting someone that I shouldn't have and I was doubting myself of whether like I overlooked something or whatever.
And reaching out to the neighbor and and learning that he is just as lost gave me a sense of comfort. I is very small. But those instincts and the way that they impacted us moments after the trauma to bring us down even just one tiny minuscule level are the things that were reattaching to the narrative when we explore that side of things. And this is like kind of a hard adjustment for like what you might imagine uh the therapeutic dialogue to be about, which is like unpacking problems. But unpacking people's resiliency is unpacking their problems.
To describe what was done that was helpful by its nature has to acknowledge that something bad happened. So you're not overlooking anything, right? There's a lot of people who would say like, "Oh, aren't you just ignoring the problem?"
No, not at all. This moment, this event, like to describe, I reached out to the neighbor. I, you know, was able to relate is only a sequence that makes sense in the aftermath of the traumatic thing.
So, you're just not forcing the person to relive it because they already [ __ ] know it happens. Like, you you're not doing anything additive to make them like relive the moment that they blasted someone's head off. Um, but you are adding something usually that's left behind when you help them recognize what they did that was helpful. So, you're not ignoring problems at all. In fact, you're um balancing the problem narrative with uh their survival traits, which again, it's not going to make like the worst thing that happened to them go away. But if this person is ever going to feel okay or close to it in their life, they need to feel like they weren't a complete failure in this moment. And we're not. We're we're not the only person who is as confused in this situation. I could see us coming away from this feeling that way. Um but what we're seeing right now is that we aren't. We weren't.
Feels like they're not telling us the whole truth. Good thing they didn't take your daughter.
And even that would be a moment like if I could help the client unpack what you said to the neighbor. Think about how important that would be in this moment where we're feeling like we're losing our own humanity. If you can get someone to describe, well, I as what did you ask him? I asked him, you know, um how he was doing and and I said it's a good thing that they didn't take your daughter. Sometimes we don't remember those things and that's like a very human concerned question to ask. The fact that we can ask it a moment after what feels like a very unempathetic decision to blast someone away. Um it challenges whatever idea we might have been left with that like yeah that was the moment all of my humanity went away when I made the wrong choice and you know became a murderer. So, even the fact that we said this would be super important to reattach. No way in hell I'm ever letting that happen over my dead body. If those bastards so much as lay a finger on her, tear them apart.
You're goddamn right.
Okay, take care, neighbor. Thanks.
Never thought we'd end up living through interesting times. The sun, the visitors, and now FEMA. So many questions and not a single damn answer.
Neighbor, I need to ask something of you. If something happens to me, promise you'll look after my daughter.
In the progression of the conversation, I would work as hard as I could to reattach, if it was lost, this moment as well, where we found it within ourselves to make a commitment to someone that had trust in us.
He trusts us. even in a world where it's very hard to find trust in other people.
I mean, he doesn't know if we've caught the visitor virus now that we know it's it's not something that like it distinguishes a class of people from another. Like, you could be a human and become a visitor. He doesn't know that we're not. And he still trusts us. We may not perceive oursel as having very very many trustworthy traits at this point, but here we have someone that uh still has them for us. Promise. Thank you, neighbor. I knew I could count on you.
All right, I got to go. Stay strong.
Probably the most important conversation that we will ever have because if nothing else, this was like a minor point of stabilization after something horrific. If nothing else, this probably brought us from a 10 level of distress down to like a nine or an eight. Like, we're still pretty rocked by what happened, I imagine. Like I was saying in the last episode, it's going to take a long time for even just our body to regulate after this. And that also makes it harder to remember these kinds of things because we're so dregulated. But it would be hard to argue with the fact that this was helpful and encoded in that conversation were some demonstrations of our humanity, trustworthiness, and an enduring capacity to care, which is an everinccreasing rarity in this world.
Let's call the psychics just for a bit of fun. What could that not work?
Okay, that's suspicious. What about what about the forest people?
What is going on here? What about FEMA?
Okay, so uh I can't call anyone else, but I can call FEMA. That is [ __ ] sus. Hello, this is the Federal Emergency Management Agency medical division. We're now able to provide consultation services regarding a visitor screening procedures. Please state your question.
Okay. So, uh maybe we can actually get I don't know how authentic the clarification would be, but we can at least well see what they're thinking or what they want us to think. What should I know about the teeth sign? For accurate testing, we recommend avoiding tobacco products. Smoking may affect the condition of the teeth, leading to unreliable results.
What? That was useless. I just shot a man in the head.
Who?
His teeth was fine. There wasn't anything [ __ ] wrong with his teeth.
What should I know about the nail sign?
To ensure a proper reading of your visitor status, please refrain from washing your hands before examination.
Water may remove surface residue, which could lead to errors and or false results.
This is [ __ ] dude. What about the eyes? For accurate screening, please avoid coffee. Oh, there's no way. Or caffeine containing beverages. Caffeine is a known cause of both insomnia and nervousness and can also lead to bloodshot or red and dies.
Dude, [ __ ] FEMA.
Why the [ __ ] can't I call anyone else?
Is that FEMA? Are they blocking my [ __ ] line, bro? What the [ __ ] Okay.
Now I'm upset again.
Okay. Who Who is even here?
[ __ ] Okay. Among Us guys.
He's still in the trash bag. Okay. So, I don't know if the sun guy is a visitor. Uh, it's just cope for me that I don't want to believe that my friend in the closet there is.
I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, cold gentlemen.
If you've got a second sign, I'm sorry, but it's it's [ __ ] over.
Let's check the eyes. Eyes are a window to hell, not to soul. My soul burned out long ago. Maybe that's why I'm so cold.
Oh, the eyes are fine. Narrow pupils.
Probably because the cold has tightened my skin. Shame the sun still burns me like everyone else. At least my flesh was warm as a charred.
I don't know. Oh, I don't know if I can withstand as my character a second decision in one day.
[ __ ] it. Let's take a gamble. If nothing else, making the somewhat correct but still awful choice might, I don't know, balance things out. Is that the killer in you talking? My eyes aren't red. Don't let me stop you.
Waiting is worse than death.
I don't want to do this, but I just can't [ __ ] risk it.
You know, [ __ ] They were a visitor.
They were a [ __ ] visitor.
I still don't I don't want to [ __ ] blow anyone away. God damn it. That doesn't make me feel any better at all.
There is no winning condition in this game, is there? There is no win condition. What a [ __ ] up premise for a game that winning basically has the floor of still feeling terrible about what you had to do to succeed. Maybe that's an allegory for like war or something. I don't know. The fact that yeah, you you may succeed at something. It still carries with it all kinds of horror along the way. And uh well, it's very hard to justify a sort of net good.
Let's just see what the [ __ ] happens now.
Let's take a look outside.
What?
My neighbor's house, which he just painted white, is now charred blacker than What the [ __ ] Seems like the fire is still blazing now. Have burnt it down.
What happened, neighbor?
Is anyone still alive? Worried thoughts swirl in your head, and you're overcome with a feeling of incomprehension and helplessness.
Oh my god, no.
The neighbor's a smart guy. I'm sure he got out. Maybe that's even him at the door right now.
Creepy man is standing on the street smiling.
He's holding someone's decapitated head in a helmet. Oh, thank God it's not the neighbor.
Thank god some other poor soul.
This game is so [ __ ] up. The way that it sort of bends your mind into being relieved to find that only the second most horrible thing that happened did was that of a soldier, his face frozen in a terrified grimace.
You're not sure what scared him more, the pale visitor or his own impending death.
Um, okay.
One of the things I've learned is that uh visitors don't survive shotgun shells.
So maybe I should just let friend in.
See what happens.
Entire squad of soldiers that arrived just yesterday is dead.
Like there was a masser out there.
Bodies are scattered across the whole street. One is missing its head.
Did that pale creepy?
Yes, I think that is the indication.
Please be neighbor. No, it's [ __ ] FEMA.
Good evening. I'm from FEMA. We're making house calls around your neighborhood, checking in with the residents.
Yeah. Why should I trust you? I can show you my credentials. It as if that [ __ ] matters at all.
Anyway, visitors rarely move in groups.
Maybe even never. This is a great question. Why are you in protective gear? Should we be wearing that, too?
Yeah. Is it like an airborne thing? No.
But you could buy some if it would help you make you feel safer.
We're still in the process of studying the sun's effect on the environment. Oh, I guess it's for the sun. It's important for us to be careful since we're spending so much time outside.
Yeah. Do you have a [ __ ] plan? Of course. But we can't action our plans without proof. So, we'll take one of the people staying here.
You just You're just going to take someone.
We'll have them complete a few tests so we can make sure everything is above board. Then we'll send them back.
What do I need to pack? Am I going? Is this your house? Then no. Stay with the other residents. If you need to evacuate, I'll let you know. We'll just take one person and be on our way. No, they're taking the Sunman.
Well, I guess it's preferable to taking my theater friend. I actually like Sunu, though.
Good night.
Oh my god.
I feel much less safe. That dude was a [ __ ] ride or die. Okay, so uh potentially we've got a new friend. Oh, hey, somebody's here. Nice. I'm so wired right now. But Enerica just ain't hitting like it used to. Could use a recharge. So he's he's boosting.
Where are you headed? Charged up like that.
Somewhere far away. Can't stay in one place. A storm is coming and I'm kind of curious to see how people will face it.
I'll keep moving until I fry or till the visitors gobble me up. Whichever comes first.
You can't outrun trouble.
That the truth.
And you're stuck at here. You think that's what's keeping you safe? Well, yeah. You're alive talking to me. True.
But hey, I'm not dead either. Looks like we both figured something out. We should trade survival hacks. Oh god.
Another quirky personality.
And then what? Then I run. I'll keep running until I find what I'm looking for. Whatever that is. But your place seems interesting, I think. Will you let me in? Yeah, sure. Come on in, buddy.
Could use someone with your panaz.
So, you're going to tell me what's going on around here? Deal? I'll chip in. I've got stories of my own. We'll chat.
Okay.
Could be interesting.
My god, it's a little girl.
God. Hi.
Let me in.
What happened?
Um my They No.
No [ __ ] neighbor.
They [ __ ] killed neighbor.
Who? Visitors came to the house. They were sitting with us.
Daddy was talking to them about something. They killed him.
Our Now our house is on fire.
Oh, come on. Oh my god. Wait a second.
Okay, she's coming in.
But if she gets killed by a visitor here, I'll never forgive myself.
You'll of course I'll help you. I'm scared.
Okay, this is having me think twice about letting everyone in.
Oh my god.
No way. This is This is This is This is testing me.
Thing is, she looks scary, but she does have a cat, which uh could be good or bad. Hi. You open or not?
Uh, do you know the bald man?
Well, probably not. What do you want?
Creative beer drawer. Ham leg. Don't know. Give whatever.
You open yes or no. They tell me come here. So, I came. Who are you? Dance, ballet.
You can tell.
Did you uh did someone send you here? I think so. Why matter? Because you have a cat.
Immediately makes you more interesting.
Huh?
Prove that you're a person. Two arm, two leg, one head.
[ __ ] Yeah. Come on in. She's got a cat.
This is like a two for one.
Come on, kitty. Time to run and enjoy.
I'm sure she's safe.
It's like no one else is coming tonight.
My god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god.
Oh my god. Oh my god.
Okay, doesn't look like anything changes after we let people in.
What the [ __ ] you all?
Oh my god, this next day is going to be horrific. This is putting me in such a complex psychological bind. My [ __ ] neighbor is dead. He is like one of the only things that was making me feel safe here. And now I'm responsible as I promised I would be.
We're taking care of his kid. Suddenly the stakes of uh who is a visitor and who is not have become a lot higher because you know I could reason on behalf of my character that we care about life our own life. I don't think that we want to die.
But in a sense it's easier to do the equation of if I mess this up it's only my life at stake. Well now it's my life and a kids. There's just no way. There's no way. There's no way this ends well.
No, Brady. You've got to be optimistic.
You can do this.
You can find something to make this more manageable. Good afternoon. You are watching the news.
Due to a sharp increase in suspected visitor sightings, FEMA has announced as enacting new protection measures.
Effective immediately, a full quarantine will be enforced across all major population areas.
Travel outside your city or to nearby villages is strictly prohibited. Please stay within your designated area. In addition, FEMA has revealed a new visitor identification procedure.
Hairless armpits.
The reports that the visitors have no visible hair in this area, making it a useful identification tool. The agency is asking citizens to bear with the tests and comply with escorts to quarantine zones. That's all for now.
Stay calm and don't leave the house during the day. Next up, a report on what you can do if you spot a visitor. Yes, let me know, please.
Even though I don't trust the source.
Bema suggests that the visitor phenomenon may be infectious or pose a thus far undisclosed biological threat.
For this reason, it's critical to report any potential visitors and isolate them immediately.
If you can't hand over a visitor to a quarantine zone right away, issue them a special request to appear before FEMA.
During the next collection round, an employee will take in anyone who is this paper for examination. That is all for now.
Okay. So, uh I guess we're just [ __ ] offering people up to FEMA now.
Um what is going on here?
What is this? Is this good?
Is this okay? Can I have this? Can I please have this? Can this just be the one thing?
That's okay right now.
Pet the cat.
You reach out and pet the cat.
And it loved it.
Well, I think the floating hearts let me know that it did like it.
Can I pick up the cat?
What do I do with it? Oh, he doesn't like to be held for very long.
My gosh, everything is okay for like 20 seconds.
So, traumatized victim of the visitor apocalypse, what were some other things that you did that helped in the situation? Well, I let a sort of scaryl looking woman in um because she had a cat in her hands and uh tell me survivor, how did this uh change things for you in these very dire circumstances? Well, they made them vastly better. They improved things immediately and profoundly because now I know despite all the terrible, terrible things that are going to happen to me, that I have a fuzzy little companion that I can pet, that I can show my affection to now that I've lost my neighbor, and that um for a brief moment I can offer shelter and affection to this adorable little creature.
It's really none the wiser to all of the terrible things that are going on right now.
Oh my god, I love it. This is the best This is the best game ever. This is the best part of the game and it's the best game by default.
I love that the kitty is right here as well. Nice little vantage point. See everything that's going on. What is this?
Okay, there's all kinds of [ __ ] going on right now. Let's check the radio first.
>> Feeling lonely? Yes. Anxious? Yes. Got no one to talk to? Well, sort of. I have a cat. Then the phone roulette is just what you need.
Call us now on 891533 and we'll connect you with the perfect conversation partner.
I've never been.
>> Uh, okay.
Probably have to check that out.
Um, should I go in the basement?
Should I like do some investigation first?
I don't want to go down here and like lock myself out of the activities for the day.
This is torture, these little calendar events. So [ __ ] up what they're putting out on these things. Okay, first let's just take a look at our surroundings.
We've got our wired up man squatting in the corner over there. He's fine. He's doing fine.
Got the cat lady. She's there. She's She's got a solid little lean going on.
seems to be doing all right.
The neighbor's daughter alone in the kitchen looking scared.
And uh we've got our theater friend there in the closet. I don't believe anyone is in here.
Okay, just to um double check here. What happens if I I don't trust anything right now.
Okay. Okay.
Okay.
Okay. It's children's day. And I say not all of the visitors can stay. Some of them are going to have to pay. Who, mind you, I'm sure we'll find a clue or two. Our trusty friend, Mr. Shotgun.
I'm losing my [ __ ] mind playing this.
I really am.
Okay, all we can do is gather more information. Okay, girly. You brought me a cat. Have you also brought me trouble?
Kitty is here. What more do you need? I guess nothing else, to be quite honest.
You know, the one thing that helped me so far was calling my neighbor. And uh that resource is exhausted.
So uh the cat's basically all I've got left.
Why are you here?
What a dumb question, stupid loser.
You opened the door. Ask yourself what for. What am I for? It's all the same to me. Place is place. said go here so and here I don't want any nothing not you what matters is you keep place comfy for kitty the rest who care well I don't really disagree let's give her a test though you test me huh yes be sure of something um and we can see the teeth. They look pristine potentially hiding the hands.
I mean, could go for the new feature there, but something about keeping her hands down. I want to check her hands. So, what I dance? Why interrupt to look at dancy hands?
Uh, there are a lot of scratches.
probably uh from holding the kitty a little longer than kitty prefers.
Kitty. He insists kitty is alive. Lucky kitty. It makes large pain in hand and ass.
Oh, what? Okay, let's get some real information here.
You want the red blood? Me, too. None for poor me yet.
Okay, she's a bit odd.
Um, but I feel like it's a bit of misdirection.
The cashier was bit aloof, the uh cold individual.
Yeah, pretty suspicious. But she kind of just reminds me of the sun guy who we don't know if he's a human or not. I'm going to hear her out. You've done a good thing for me, miss. You brought me a cat. Up, down, up, down. Why you do this? Can't decide. Looks stupid from here.
God damn it. I feel like an idiot in front of her, though. Okay. What about this guy? Well, that's it. Run out of steam.
So, what are those stories you're talking about? Yeah, let's uh let's do a little bit of a chinwag here. Yeah, those. How about we trade tails? Want to share something first? Not with you.
It's interesting. like we seem to like prefer certain people in a sense.
We're curious about certain people like we were with the sun guy, but neither of these options really have much intrigue.
Kind of similar with the Among Us guy.
Get to the point. Right. Right. Anyway, so I'm minding my own slurping on my trusty inner Jacka. Man, I love that stuff. You've got no idea. It's just mind-blowing. The aftertaste sticks around all day. Too bad they don't sell it everywhere.
So, oh yeah, where was I?
This guy so far is the only one who sort of bounces around in mid-con conversation. So, I'm sitting there, right? Place is half empty, music blasting in my ears, and then I hear someone yelling loud enough to get through my headphones right in the middle of a real bop, too. And I don't like getting distracted from my tunes, you know, like when you're deep in the sound and the world kind of fades out. The [ __ ] All right. All right. So, I yank my headphones out and see this tall ass guy yelling at some poor sap.
Is he talking about the long gentleman?
Okay, so these people like might have met each other out there.
I don't know what they were arguing about, but he could barely string two words together. Drunk as a skunk. Bean pole screams, then straight up slaps down the other dude. He goes down like a sack of potatoes. But Lofty ain't done yet. He climbs onto the bar, wobbling like jelly. Heads basically hitting the ceiling. Then he yells something like, "You're all scum." I knew [ __ ] was about to hit the fan, and I did not want to be there when it did. So I I scared.
Scampered.
And what? Nothing. Things just feel kind of off. Wherever I go, someone always kicks the hornets's nest. It feels like if I stay anywhere more than a couple of days, that's it. Fight, death, coffin, grave. Usually in that order. Hope things are different here.
So, he knew the long gentleman. Well, I'm sorry to say, friend, he um met his demise a few nights ago. I mean, this dude is so wired up. I bet he might not even be phased by staring down the barrel. So, uh, we're just going to see what happens. After all, it's the one thing that doesn't really have much consequence yet. Let me just finish this energetica. Yeah, show me. Show me.
Maybe you show me show me your armpits.
That's it. Guy like you real energetic, sweating all day long.
Show me your [ __ ] armpits, man.
The only sign that makes sense.
Okay. No particular color, no filth, none of that [ __ ] Just regular armpits. Nice.
It's probably a human.
I've been avoiding this one.
Here's the thing, friend. I don't want to believe that you're a visitor, but I don't have any evidence yet that you're not.
I think we have to check him. 1 2 3 4.
Maybe I'll just burn it all. Just kidding. Okay, theater sucks, but what about your friends? Oh, right. I never finished that story. Sorry, I jump around a lot. It's hard to focus on one thing. Anyway, my friends were all actors, producers, sound guys, lighting techs, that kind of crowd. We used to get wasted from day one. I even rented small stages for my birthdays. 100 people would show up and it was amazing.
Imagine 100 people coming just to celebrate you. Man, those were the days.
Well, I don't think that we have ever experienced anything like that. I think that's a very hard thing to relate to for us considering how isolated we seem.
In fact, I don't even know if this really sounds all that appealing. I don't think we like crowds or large amounts of people very much. We are just not the uh extroverted type, I think.
But the theater world's toxic as hell.
Everyone's out to undercut everyone else. No money, too much stress. Over time, this party stopped. And I realized that most of the people who came to my birthdays weren't really friends.
We were just there.
Ooh. So, he's lonely, too.
Thing is, we've always been alone. And this is a man who feels that he was a part of something when his reality was shattered to bits.
They used me when it suited them or talk [ __ ] about me behind my back. But hey, don't get me wrong. I sat down, made a list, figured out who to kick to the curb, and then what? I I hate how much these stories just stop in the middle.
Okay, friend. I got to test you. I'm sorry, but it's got to be done. No problem, friend. What do you want to say? He said nice.
Okay.
I'm suspicious of teeth. We've not found much success here so far. One person was a visitor. I looked at my own teeth. I'm probably not a visitor. And uh I blasted a guy away whose teeth were perfectly fine. Hands.
We did get a confirmed kill based on hands.
the cold gentleman eyes. We've not had much luck. Armpits.
I mean, the armpits kind of make sense like cuz this you could just be Yeah, you could have insomnia, you could have been staying up, whatever. This hit or miss.
Depends on hygiene. This they're all out in the [ __ ] dystopian world climbing over, you know, dead bodies and through fields and whatever.
I feel like the armpits is like what explanation would you have? Natural explanation for Yeah, I shaved my armpits. All right, friend. Show me your armpits. Or there's a double barrel for you. Don't freak out. All right.
Oh, what's going on around the armpit, though? It's just another skin thing.
See, I'm bald.
I've got patches like that all over.
Um, this guy's so friendly. I don't think that it's going to phase him.
[ __ ] Okay, wait. What am I doing? I've gotten so used to people just kind of accepting that like this is just a thing that happens in this house. Oh, relax, will you? Everything's fine. Don't wave that gun at me.
I don't know. My bias says that he's like the most I don't know, relatable so far. Like, he's got to be a human, right?
But maybe that's exactly what makes him a visitor.
The thing is is I I really don't want to be wrong about him, though.
I don't have any more energy. Could drink something and do some more tests, but no, I don't even know. No one could be a visitor.
Well, what can I say? You're dangerous, friend. You get to decide who lives and who dies.
That's [ __ ] Finally, someone has like a straightforward reaction to this scenario. Like that is that is a straight up cold read of the situation.
Oh, this poor man.
Well, now I feel terrible because I haven't accomplished anything and I've not really ruled anything out either.
And I the [ __ ] am I going to find down here?
[ __ ] it. What's going on in the basement?
What have we got here? Sardines, pickles, tunnel. I don't know.
Okay. Doesn't look like there's really anything going on down here.
[ __ ] Okay, I got to talk to the kid.
I I want my mommy.
Yeah, I'm sorry, kid, but you are going to have to tell me what happened. This kind of question makes sense here. But like I was saying, this is not the question to ask in therapy.
You know, beyond a certain baseline of context, it's really not important for the clinician to know exactly what happened. Those are not the pieces the the material that you are working with to help someone reconstruct a sense of self is like what bad things happened to them. Now it is an instinct by nature of being a therapist to be curious about people and what happens to them and how it shapes them. But new therapists have to be mindful of the difference between wanting to know, you know, a client comes and says, "Oh, I got in this huge fight with so and so, my partner, my brother, whatever." And for you to say, "Oh, well, what was the fight about?
What happened? What did he say?" And to get the whole story. But this will slow things down, distract from really the work that you're trying to do, and it deemphasizes like what the objective in the therapeutic process is, which is how we're going to develop from the crisis.
And sometimes it is worth getting into like, okay, well, if you're getting into this fight all the time when then we need to know a little bit of context to understand this pattern of yours so that we can work on it. But sometimes it's not that. Some sometimes it can be confusing as a clinician. And I remember this was hard for me at the beginning and sometimes still is to know the difference of like am I going for information gathering or is this my own sort of nosiness about like I don't know I'm just interested and it's okay to just be interested you know that's that's how you also build rapport with people is to be interested but sometimes all I'm saying is that sometimes a asking questions like this can be for your benefit and as long as it's in the client's benefit as well it's appropriate but occasionally it is just for your own like you just you want to know but it might distract from the the work in general. Uh but this is not therapy. This is a therapy channel but this is not therapy. This is trauma.
This is a trauma game where we traumatize people and become traumatized. So tell me what happened little girl. I don't know.
They came in and started talking and dad said they were wrong. Then they said, they said, "Daddy, daddy."
I just I appreciate how like kind we are to her, though. It's very stark contrast to some of the other people in the house.
Okay, just rest for now. This is good instinct. Like, yeah, this is not helping her. You can exactly see what I'm talking about. We need to know a little bit in a sense, but the priority right now is she needs to rest. Girl calls out for her father non-stop.
There's no end in sight to her hysterics.
Poor thing. Okay.
I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. Someone could be a visitor. And if they're a visitor and they [ __ ] They put that little girl in trash bags.
Everyone's getting a shotgun shell tomorrow morning. I swear to God, it better not [ __ ] happen. I'm just going to take the risk.
Okay, let's see what we're dealing with here.
Looking at the ruins of your neighbor's house.
Happy family lived there until recently.
Now only a ghostly shell remains.
Strange feeling overwhelms you. As if you knew this was coming.
As if death was coming to that house. So very soon.
Uh what is going on in the sky?
I don't even know anymore.
>> What the hell?
Oh boy.
Uh, okay. I did not realize they could like listen in.
What the [ __ ] Oh, poor thing.
Oh, this is breaking my heart.
Where's the cat? Can we Can we give her the cat?
I think she needs the cat.
Cute.
I don't know about that guy. He's He's making me feel like a piece of [ __ ] for pointing a gun at him, which I should I should feel like that.
Oh, great.
Great. What do you want? Good evening.
I'm with FEMA Yenos [ __ ] We're running a routine inspection in your neighborhood. Don't worry, it won't take long.
My my own cat here has been enjoying her time in the in the biscuit factory of my stomach. She is just going ham on my on my belly right now. Uh, when will you return the person that you took?
Return. Ah, so our team's already been here. Oh, this isn't even the same [ __ ] guy. After screening, there's a mandatory quarantine period. They'll be staying with us for a while. After that, they'll be sent back from the quarantine zone.
Um, yeah, I'm not really interested in these tests. You misunderstand.
This is not a choice.
Oh [ __ ] they're taking the cat lady.
Honestly, I don't think she really wants to be here anyways, but um, is she leaving the cat? One way or another, this is happening. The sooner you cooperate, the sooner it will all be over. If you're unable to immediately transfer a suspected visitor to a quarantine zone, issue them a mandatory appearance slip.
Okay, we got a FEMA notice.
This [ __ ] guy. So, you're still hold up here, I see.
What did you think of that guy? The one in the suit?
I don't know how I feel about him. The thing is is uh he's a little bit like me.
He's going through the world uncertain trying to figure out what's going on and all he's got is a trusty little shot piece to keep him safe. And that's what I'm working with. Why feel it all?
Everything's been decided for us. A blessing, wouldn't she say? Or do you want to fix it all by yourself?
can't do anything. No, I'm I'm I'm doing what I can. We're We're not succeeding always, but I do think the protagonist has a bit of resolve about what's going on by the nature of we haven't just given up yet.
And what exactly can you do?
Can you ward off death? Stop the floods, the fires, the decay. The only thing you can stop is a heartbeat.
So you alone?
I'm not alone.
Still scrambling to survive in this new world, are we?
Why?
Dogs rule the world now and only dogs survive here.
You understand what I mean? Yes. Things will never go back to the way they were.
Life changed. Falling out of rhythm.
Next time we meet, things will be interesting.
I'll save a couple bullets for you, friend. Ah, wonderful. The cat's with you. Oh, thank [ __ ] god she didn't take the cat. What to do with the one who brought it is for you to decide.
Well, she's gone already. So, how did you know about the cat?
I think this guy sent her there.
Why did you ask uh me to let someone with a cat into my home? A powerful entity awaits the cat's approach. It is thanks to she that my eyes reach far.
Even I do not see all. One thing is yet clear, though. Something wicked this way comes.
You cannot hold it. Perhaps they'll mention it on the radio. Will you listen?
Uh what is going to happen, friend? I can't say more. I've already said too much. Treat this as advice if you wish, but for two days yonder. Testing pretends dune.
When I first came here, I felt something strange.
Now the feeling has subsided somewhat. I think we are on the right path. I hope to see you again soon.
Does that mean what we actually don't have any visitors?
Yo, how's it hanging? Dude, you've been seeing how gnarly things are out here.
What the hell is going on? Be for real with me, dude. What did I miss?
Sun is flaring up and burning people alive during the day.
Uh, I think he would probably should know that creatures that look like humans are crawling up out of the ground. I could see how you missed this one.
Zombies, dude. I knew it, bro. You What is with all the like dude bros out here in the [ __ ] apocalypse, bro? Can you can like totally count on me for what comes next? I've seen so many movies where this happens, dude. I'm basically a survival guru. Just clue me in. We dealing with classic slow zombies or the gnarly fast ones. And is it like brain virus or are they just freaky undead dudes?
Trust me, dude. The answer to that totally changes the game plan. Also, you got a shotgun or like grenades.
Boy, do I. We're going to need hella firepower to make it through this one.
And food, man. Like loads of food.
Um, yeah. What the [ __ ] are you talking about, dude? I know exactly what I'm saying. You know how sci-fi writers already know what the future's going to be like? Like, they go to Space Brain and predict crazy tech stuff before it even happens? Imagine if we went to space and started sending letters to aliens.
This dude is [ __ ] stoned or something. Totally wild, dude. My homie read a zen where it happened. All right, I'll chillax. Come on, let me in.
Honestly, dude, I kind of don't have [ __ ] room for all this [ __ ] Come on, bro. All right, so check this. I got to I don't like how he's like, you know, we got to do something about this, friend.
The impetus of letting you inside, the thing the neighbor said I should do is bring people in the home so they could tell the weird, creepy dude that I'm not alone. Like, I did not want people in my house. That was not a choice that I would have made without the duress of my environment and the trust I have in my neighbor, who is dead, by the way.
Check it. Coffee. Bam. It's like the games, dude. Got to build up like pallet points, right?
Oh, wait a second.
Bro's got coffee.
Okay, I don't really care for him, but uh I would like some caffeine.
I mean, we got to find any source of pleasure that we can in this world. Yo, appreciate it, my man. Man, this might be the radest thing that's happened to me like ever. They should totally make a move. God, this guy sucks.
Why do I always have to have one guy who sucks?
There's another one.
Good evening. Any chance you've got room for one more? Don't really need much.
Uh, how do I know you're not a visitor?
To be honest, still not sure who exactly those visitors are. What makes them different from us?
Is a great question. That is a great [ __ ] question, friend. Maybe I fit some of the signs. I don't know.
Everything's been so strange lately. I think I'm still the same person I've always been. I don't feel any urge to hurt anyone. It all feels a bit like the fairy tales we grew up with. The ones where evil spreads all over the world.
People get scared, hide away, stop trusting one another. If only a hero would appear to defeat our real evils, so everything could go back to how I was. I doubt I can be our savior. But in every story, good always wins in the end.
I don't need freeloaders here. No, this guy is coming in. This guy has got a positive attitude and not in a delusional sense like some of the others who are just like, "Fuck yeah, bro.
Like, I'll survive this shit." Like, this is a very realistic, I have no [ __ ] clue what's going on. You know, I'm seeing a lot of our protagonist in this young gentleman, and uh I think we could use as much relatability as we can. Come on in. Everybody comes in.
Everybody comes in. Everybody gets faced with the shot piece.
Not everyone makes it out. Thank you so much. I won't forget this. It's good to know that kind people still exist. And not just in stories.
I like that guy.
Okay.
Moment of discovery, I guess.
Oh, I didn't get that notification. I don't know if anyone died. Emergency broadcast. Wildfires are now sweeping across forested regions. Experts believe abnormally high solar activity is to blame. While the full scale of the disaster remains unclear, fire crews from nearby cities have been deployed to contain the blaze. Despite the fires, visitors continue to terrorize the nation. FEMA has announced a new identifying sign to aid the public in their fight against the visitors. Aura film photography.
Okay. Dark patches appearing on a captured image is a strong indicator that the subject may be a visitor. Stay calm and remained indoors during daylight hours.
Next word from our sponsors, Aracam. Each day, spotting visitors is getting harder and harder.
1 + 1 equals 3. Signs aid the search.
But did you ever find yourself wanting a foolproof way? Introducing our new revolutionary aura sensitive photograph photographic film. It exposes the soul's energy, allowing you at home to discern a human from a hostile visitor. Take a photo and if you see black patches, you found a visitor. Now, science time. What?
Energetica. The heat won't stop you.
Feel the drive. With Enerica, you're alive. Wow. An invigorating energy drink that quenches your thirst faster and more effectively than water.
Now available from four restaurant delivery. Okay.
Okay. Guess we might have to get ourselves one of those cams.
And uh I like how our option is to talk to the cat.
Pet the cat, love the cat, surround the cat with joy. Seems like it actually likes it. It's not as grumpy as you first thought. Looks like it's starting to get used to you. A Can I pick him up?
Like they let us hold him for a little bit longer.
Okay.
Please, please, please, please, please, please. Oh my god.
Oh.
Okay.
Well, at least everyone in the house is not getting shot the [ __ ] up this morning, cuz that is exactly what will happen if someone takes out the little girl. I swear to God, everyone but the cat dies.
Okay, I think this is where we're going to pause for now.
Let's take a little peek here at who we've got. Got our optimistic friend there looking a little green around the gills.
Energetica man is getting wired on the floor over there.
Theater guy is still on the floor. And uh this man, not really sure what to make of him.
Okay, cashier's day. Oh, now I'm sad about the cashier.
Okay, all things considered, we've had two successful, kills, and um one miscalculation.
And we've done a good thing by saving that little girl and by saving this little cat here. I have no idea what a conclusion to this game is supposed to be like, but uh I'm going to keep trying. I'm going to keep trying to make good decisions if such a thing is possible. But remember this, often the best things that you do are the easiest to forget after a crisis.
And we are seeing the signs of what someone who is deep deep in a crisis is doing to manage it. I think pretty dang well all things considered. Even if I just look at like functional stuff, the fact that we're able to get to sleep, the fact that we're able to still make judgment calls, like there is still some executive control and deliberation on emotion going on. like the fact that we can communicate empathically with the little girl despite going in a different room and having like, you know, some quite negative feelings and sentiment towards some of our other patrons. To me, that signals that we've not fallen into like a uniform cynicism or hopelessness about the situation.
some amount of optimism, some amount of willingness to go the extra mile to protect this little girl that we care about and ourselves. And now we're certainly letting everybody that we can in, you know, to help him out if we can.
So, there is an element of spirit that is being maintained despite many things that would reasonably bend it to the point of breaking.
Those are the perspectives worth trying to surface in the work of trauma therapy and helping a person see that not everything that you do and the ways that you respond are going to be perfect and some may even come with maladaptive patterns and consequences later down the line. But something that I've seen from doing this work is that when you remind someone of the care they took of themselves and other people amidst a crisis, it does tend to restore a bit of faith in yourself.
If nothing else, you might still be left feeling that you didn't make good decisions, but perhaps underneath those decisions, you were still a good person with good intentions.
Okay, that is where we're going to pause for now.
As always, thank you for watching everyone. Be good to yourselves and I will see you next time. Take care. Bye.
