On April 13th, 2025, an officer in Ohio was on routine patrol when she spotted a silver sedan driving with a broken passenger side headlight. What should have been a routine standard 5-minute warning was about to escalate into a hostile confrontation when the driver chose to challenge the officer's authority. Here's what the officers did next.

[00:32:49]>> After the arrest, she was initially charged with obstructing official business, operating a vehicle under the influence commonly known as OVI in Ohio, failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, and a secondary OVI charge for a breath alcohol content over the legal limit.

[00:33:04]When prosecutors formally filed the case, two additional charges were added: driving under suspension and a minor misdemeanor for failing to have proper headlights turned on. One month later, she pleaded guilty to the primary first offense OVI charge, and the judge adjudicated her guilty. The remaining five charges were dismissed. She was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 177 days suspended, followed by 2 years of community control. Her driver's license was suspended for 2 years, though she was granted limited driving privileges for medical and vocational purposes. She was also ordered to complete a 3-day AIP class and to pay $941 in fines, court costs, and attorney fees. Following her sentencing, a bench warrant was issued for her arrest in March 2026 after she failed to appear for a hearing related to fines and court costs.
