This is a masterclass in analog precision, using simple mechanical ingenuity to solve complex phase-timing issues in high-voltage physics. It elegantly demonstrates that true engineering mastery often lies in the clever manipulation of physical constraints.

Synchronous rotary spark gap recombobulater本站添加:
Hello all you lovely subscribers.
Hello. Um, this is how I tune my synchronous spark cups because it's got to be sparky right at the top of the peak. Not down there or by there. It's got to be right up there to get the biggest bang.
Um, I tried it with a strobe.
It gets it close, but it's never absolutely perfect.
And uh I tried doing it by hand, moving the motor about inside there. So you move it by there, test for spark length.
If it's no good, move it a bit more, test again. If it's no good, try again.
Then you've gone too far. So you got to turn it all off and try again. It's just takes forever cuz only needs to be about that much and it's out. So, what I've done, I put a I done it a while ago, but I thought I'd show you how it works.
It's a one RPM motor, which just plugs into the back of this vacuum cleaner motor housing, and it can revolve it around uh nice and slowly like that until I get the the biggest spark and I will stop. I don't know what these things are called, like a hydraulic hose thing, but it's the biggest one I could find. And it wasn't that expensive, if I can remember.
Anyway, I'll show you how this works.
It's a just a battery and I think double pole double throw or something like that. So, it can go forwards and reverse. It does like So, switch that on.
See, this is moving, but it's the actual motor moving. and then go back the other way. You do it like this.
It takes a couple of seconds for it to catch up.
And then see the motor moves around in there.
It's just so we can get it the spark right at the top of the AC wave. Um if I turn I can plug this in and show you.
Takes a while.
Exciting, isn't it?
All right. Now, what I do? I'll move move it that way.
And now we put it back the other way.
Takes a couple of seconds, as I said, for the gearing to catch up and do its thing. But it should go back the other way. I don't even know if you can hear me, but there you go.
that way now.
Uhhuh.
The strobe gets it close, but it's it's never perfect.
And uh once I've got it running as I want to, I'll just tighten it down and take that off. And that's how I tune my synchronous spark apps.
There you go. Thanks for watching all you lovely subscribers and to the people who haven't yet subscribed. There you go.
