a necessary follow up to my Catechism videoAdded:
What is up, gangsters? It's been a crazy couple of days. I just got back from Colombia and I feel beyond blessed to even be making this video because my last video kind of blew up. And by kind of, I mean 15,000 views and counting so far, which is probably more views than all of the views of my previous videos combined. But I also feel like I had to make this video kind of quickly and get it out quickly to kind of clear some things up. So let's just start this video off with that. First, thank you so much for the views and for those of you who have subscribed. And second of all, if you subscribed under the notion that this channel is going to be specifically theological content or Christian Catholic content, you are sadly mistaken. At least explicitly. There's an anecdote that I saw about a good Christian shoemaker and about how a good Christian shoemaker doesn't put little crosses on their shoes, but rather makes very good shoes.
And that's kind of what I aim to do with this YouTube account is to make great videos and praise God by doing it, by showing the beauty that's in this world.
For example, the video that I have coming up is my friend's wedding in Colombia, which was just love and nature and the unity of both and just the most perfect, [music] humble and uh it just makes me feel so happy and warm inside that I want to ignore it because I'm a man. No, I'm kidding. Now that I've gotten that out the way, 500 of you who have subscribed since my previous video, hey, you are more than welcome to unsubscribe if you want to follow a strictly explicit Catholic and Christian YouTuber. That's not to say that I'm not a Catholic or I'm not Christian. I'm just saying the sole focus of my account won't just be religious content. That being said, I did want to kind of address some comments as well as get into some things that Catholicism has helped me with that I didn't really see in Protestantism and the transition between the two.
Regarding the comments, I'd usually try to respond to every single comment under my videos cuz it's very manageable.
But, I'm blessed to say that I don't think it's possible this time. Right now, we're at almost 400 comments.
And I can read them all. Don't worry.
I'll read every single one. But, will I respond?
Unlikely. Father David Michael commented, though, which was mind-boggling cuz he's like a juggernaut. He has like 400,000 subscribers and he's like super awesome Catholic dude. And um just felt blessed to be noticed by him. I did get a couple comments that were hate I'm not going to call them hate maybe just misdirected comments that came from Protestants who were telling me to stop reading this book and [music] to start reading the Bible instead and pointing at scriptures where it's saying that praying to Mary is wrong and saying that I'm a blasphemer, idolater, Satanist, whatnot. And to that I say two things, okay? The first thing [music] is if you read this, you would know that a lot of the things you are telling me is very misguided. And I urge you to research the Catholic side of things and read this book genuinely. It's even for Protestants, I think, very helpful to understand Catholicism as a whole and maybe you can join the original church. And the second part is when you tell me to read the scripture, who do you think compiled the Holy Bible? If even after doing those two things, you can still come at me with these accusations of being an an idolater or whatnot, I'm all ears. I'm genuinely am curious what you can find and I'm always willing to grow my mind because I think an open mind is a smart one. But, that was the small minority of it. I think most of the comments were actually very, very supportive coming from the Catholic community, [music] which just warms my heart and it makes me that much more excited to go to OCIA in September and to connect with my brothers. You feel me? Um, it's all about the brothers, kind of.
What?
Let's realign here and focus on what Catholicism offered me that Protestantism couldn't. And I think one of the big key ones that I missed out on in the last video was the idea of worship. Historically, I would go to church, Protestant church, and go in and then sing and dance and and you know, clap and and whatnot, kind of like party type. But, I came to really dread that because yes, I support worshipping God in a modern sense, but there has to be some type of reverence from my perspective when worshipping the creator of the universe. I'm not trying to be pretentious in saying your way of worshipping is wrong, but for me personally, I'll do choir, organ, piano, as simple as possible. Honestly, if it's just voice, that's that's the vibe. It's when you start putting in these hip-hop or like EDM or like poppy remixes of these songs and then singing those in church that, you know, personally, I don't jive with. And a maybe even more unpopular opinion of mine is straight up, if you have drums, any type of snares, boom boom pop, whatever, just doesn't jive well for me personally. I know there's some Catholic churches that do that, but every time I go to a Catholic church that does that, I know that it's not for me. Again, this is just my opinion.
Don't get mad. And lastly, >> [music] >> I think something that I didn't touch on that was super profound for me was the idea of love.
Getting closer to God is getting closer to love because God is [music] love. And understanding love helped me in my relationship so much. Talk to me at the beginning of the last year, any point in 2024 or 2023 when I was dating my girlfriend, and she would have seen a completely [music] different person. I was looking for more romance. If I'm going to keep it a buck, I was almost looking for romantic opportunities outside of my relationship. This is not to say that I was trying to cheat on her, but I was almost looking for Okay, when is this going to end and when can I start a new relationship [music] so that I can romance Max and experience Max. I was willing to move across the world to satisfy that hunger in my heart. But coming to the church and understanding God, I've realized just how stupid I was. Your strength doesn't come in experience and the ability to hook up with many girls. Rather, your strength comes from the ability [music] for you to truly love someone and build something out of it. And I've apologized greatly to my girlfriend for how I viewed our relationship in the past and I still feel like I haven't apologized enough. I don't think I ever will.
Um you know, I didn't really think when I started this video that it would get to this level of depth, but here we are. Let's actually step out of that. I've got a rosary in Colombia and I've been praying it like every day and it's super transformative.
I've realized though I can't pray the rosary while I drive. I've thought about it. I usually watch videos. This is terrible by the way. So then I thought naturally, maybe I can pray the rosary so that I can be close to God during these moments of mundane driving, but I get very tired when I do the rosary and I drive. So I'm not going to [music] do that anymore. I don't know if you guys have been hearing dogs barking, food being prepared, or children laughing and screaming in the background, but my whole family is in the living room and I have to eat dinner. So I actually must go. So I will sparknotes this whole entire video for you. I'm not an explicitly Catholic channel. You can unfollow me if you'd like. I won't take offense to it. I understand. [music] And God is good.
Thank you so much, guys.
And with all that [music] being said, peace out, gangsters.
Oh, wait. Actually, hold on. Hold on.
Before I fade out, someone hit me up and asked me if I wanted to collaborate with them and make a YouTube video with them.
It's going to be a video call style of video where we just kind of talk about conversion and Catholicism. I was super interested. I'm taking the opportunity.
So, if you see me on another person's channel, let them know that Taylor Hook sent you.
Um yeah, that's it. The guys, I love you. Thank you so much.
Peace.
