[00:00:27]With the theme [music] of advancing sustainable waste-to-energy solutions through Indonesia-Taiwan collaboration, [music] the Waste-to-Energy Forum 2026 was held at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Surabaya, on May 20th, 2026.

[00:00:40]>> [music] >> Organized by the Taiwan-Indonesia Science and Technology Innovation Center, this forum featured key speakers, including Dr. Handus Dedik Irrianto as Mayor's Expert Staff for [music] Legal, Political, and Government Affairs Surabaya, Dr. Mou Bin-Chung from National Central University, Taiwan, [music] and Professor Waru Dewanti from ITS, alongside other stakeholders from academia, industry, and government.

[00:01:28]The forum critically discussed key environmental issues, including dioxin emissions from incineration and the urgency of implementing proper waste treatment technologies. Indonesia, generating millions of tons of waste annually, the need for sustainable solutions has never been more critical.

[00:01:43]Through thermal processes, such as incineration, gasification, and pyrolysis, as well as landfill gas harvesting, [music] methane that once escaped into the atmosphere can now be captured and converted into usable energy.
