A Mantis Controlled by a Parasitic Worm #wildlife #parasite #shortsAjouté :
This praying mantis is no longer in control of its own body. Its brain has been hijacked. Inside its stomach is a horsehair worm. It has been slowly eating the mantis from the inside out, stealing its nutrients to grow up to a foot long.
But the worm needs water to mate.
So, it releases special proteins directly into the mantis's nervous system. [music] It literally takes the steering wheel.
The chemicals alter the insect's vision, making it dangerously attracted to light reflecting off water.
The mantis is forced [music] to jump in and drown.
Once it hits the water, the terrifying exit begins. The massive worm breaks out of the host's body, leaving the mantis behind while it swims off to reproduce.
Is this the scariest parasite on Earth?
