F1's Regulation Changes Confirmed 😮

[00:00:00]F1's 2026 regulation changes have been confirmed. During the unexpected spring break, Formula 1 has taken the time to get the teams, power unit manufacturers, FIA, and F1 management together to make some changes to this season's regulations. But what changes have they actually made? First off, the recharge limit in qualifying has been reduced from 8 megajoules to 7 megajoules for each lap with certain circuits on the calendar seeing a further reduction to as low as 5 megajou to try and reduce the amount of recharging that drivers have to do during a qualifying lap so that more of the lap can be run flat out. Alongside that, the super clipping recharge allowance has been increased from 250 to 350 kW in both qualifying and the races. again to hopefully reduce the amount of time that drivers have to spend recharging and super clipping to increase the speeds that drivers will arrive at a corner. And on the flip side of that, energy deployments from the MGUK will still be 350 kW in key acceleration zones, but will be limited to only 250 kW in other parts of the lap with the boost mode in race conditions also now capped at an additional 150 kW to reduce the closing speed differentials we saw in some areas of the tracks. A new low power start detection system will be added to the cars which will trigger when a car is seen to have an abnormally low acceleration off the line, activating an automatic MGUK deployment to ensure a minimum level of acceleration for the drivers that possibly messed up the standing start. And there have been some changes to wet weather running with intermediate tire blanket temperatures being increased, ERS deployments being decreased, and the rear light systems being simplified for when drivers are racing in wet conditions.
