Wheels of Soul MC: How Black Riders Built One of the Largest Motorcycle Clubs in America After Being
Added:While white MCs got famous, this all-black club quietly became one of the largest in America. 1967, Philadelphia. A group of black motorcycle riders faced the same problem everywhere. They wanted to join established clubs. They had the bikes, the passion, the loyalty, but the doors were closed. Not because they couldn't ride, because of the color of their skin.
Most major motorcycle clubs had unwritten rules, whites only. Black riders weren't welcome. So, they made a decision. If they couldn't join, they'd build their own. Something that represented them, their culture, their pride. They founded the Wheels of Soul Motorcycle Club. Philadelphia became the birthplace, but the vision was bigger than one city. The club grew fast, up and down the East Coast, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina.
Chapters formed in cities where black riders had been turned away for years.
While the Hells Angels and Outlaws dominated headlines, Wheels of Soul built quietly, focused on brotherhood, community, respect. They didn't need the publicity, they needed the bond.
Today, Wheels of Soul is one of the largest all-black motorcycle clubs in America. Dozens of chapters, thousands of members, a legacy built on the refusal to accept exclusion. They proved something powerful.
You don't wait for a seat at someone else's table, you build your own. And you make it stronger than anything they ever had.
Drop a motorcycle to honor Wheels of Soul.
