You need to fire the African-Americans and I will bring a lot of hardworking Latinos who will work for your company.

[00:00:54]a contractor for General Electrics and the Latino workers that are hired, they are snitching on the African-American workers that are hired for me.

First of all, he has come out strongly and condemned the act of Latinos coming to him, his own company, dictating to him who is supposed to hire and who is supposed to fire. He's they thought he's going to support them.

This a black man trying to get some money. He's trying to go to make money.

[00:02:58]You going to be a [ __ ] [ __ ] With everything that's going on in this country with the Latino, the Hispanic community being the headliner, this man still have time to harass a black man trying to prevent a black man from doing his job. This is not down south. This is New York City, one of the most diverse cities in the nation. But yet you harassing a black man. The minute you come for another community thinking you are better than them, thinking you are more because you think you can be closer to the white people, you're thinking they going to favor you and love you.

[00:03:42]That is where you go wrong. White people will never be your ally. They will never be on your side. Even if you want to be to be like a white person, you'll never be and that's why many people, especially migrants who go to America go wrong. White people can never be your ally. is only black Americans who can be your ally, who can be there for you. So when you even coming from black Americans, even when they are working, you are talking languages, you think they don't understand. Many people understand Spanish nowadays and they hear it very well. You are abusing them, they can hear it, they can learn it.

[00:04:17]Very sad. Let black people do their work. And that is the reason why stop stop coming for them in a very negative way. racial bias cases are of Latino employees discriminating against and abusing black employees.

[00:04:29]>> So, to me, it's kind of crazy that this pops on my for you page considering I was just thinking about this last night, but I'm personally going to just say, I never I've never understood why black people and anyone of any kind of Latino/Hispanic descent don't like each other. Quite frankly, even if even if we are not technically the same thing, like, babes, we're colored. The white man will not favor you more because you're not black. And like I'm not even trying to say this to be funny. It's kind of like Dominicans and Haitians. If you ever call a Dominican black, I'm not black. I'm Dominican. Babes, you're right next to Haiti. You're black. Just say it. And that's why like I never play into conversations like when people are like, "Oh, but Cardi B is black or Cardi B's this."

[00:05:10]You don't have to say it, but that girl is black. Like I I'm not trying to be funny. A lot of Latinos, like even like Mexicans and black people, I don't I don't get it. I've never understood. And like it's a lot of hatred considering we're all in the same [ __ ] boat.

[00:05:24]>> There's an African man talking on TikTok. He's going viral, y'all. He's going viral. He's talking about something that's been going on for a long time. The discrimination in the workplace between African-Americans and Latinos. But let me speak about it because I'm African-American.

[00:05:44]It happens with everyone.

[00:05:46]African-Americans are discriminated by everyone.

[00:05:51]And he did make a valid point. White people don't really discriminate against us anymore. Not really. Depending on the workplace, who's there? Because I've seen where whites and Latinos get together and they concoct something against African-Americans.

[00:06:08]With that being said, I have worked in numerous places with whites and if you do your job and mind your business, you're good. But let's be realistic about the scenario.

[00:06:18]This is happening and it needs to change.

[00:06:22]We already know if you go in uh any type of business and it's one group of people only working there, there's a problem with that. And I'm going to be realistic. I worked at McDonald's as an experiment and I was the only African-American there. And I can see why young individuals don't have jobs because you have older individuals that are stuck in their way, don't want to learn English.

[00:06:43]And when you're trying to do your job, you can't communicate with them. You have young individuals working also too that their family and wherever they are, they don't want them to learn English so they can send the money home. So it's a dialect issue also with the young generation where they don't speak English and they don't find the need to speak English. And we're disconnected and also they're disconnected from opportunities that they could get better if they learn English.

[00:07:08]So with that being said, it does happen.

[00:07:10]And I see Africans own businesses where they won't allow African-Americans to work there also.

[00:07:17]It's everyone, not just one group. We have to talk about it and fix it. But we see you. We see the uh supermarkets. We see the stores that it's only one race of people working in there. Stop shopping in there, black people. If they will not hire your sons or your daughters, stop shopping in these places. The only places there should be one race of people working in there, Spanish restaurant, soul food restaurant. Those type of restaurants are traditional cultural and they need to be with their racist. But when we opening sandwich shops, deli shops, we can't make a sandwich.

[00:07:55]Stop shopping with them if they won't hire YOUR KIDS. THAT'S IT. JESUS. Over and out.

[00:08:01]>> Shut up, Ape, before I put you in a cage. That's what a Latino employee told a black employee for trying to deescalate a situation. Shut up a before I put you in a cage. And then he goes on to tell him, "Hey, I don't care if you report me. My family owns this Chick-fil-A." This happened at Chick-fil-A in Idaho Falls. And the family that the employees talking about, the Latino employees talking about is the Arbara family. They're very affluent in the restaurant industry. And at this particular Chick-fil-A, Eric Ibara was the manager and his son worked with him.

[00:08:37]It will go on and create a hostile work environment for Thomas Wade. Seven months of hostility and racial slurs. It will say things like, "Of course he works at Chick-fil-A. He's black and he loves chicken." They even called him that one racist word that they fight to use daily on this app. And it just didn't stop with racial slurs. They promoted a new white employee over him into a leadership role. Mind you, Thomas was there longer than him. Thomas reported these incidents 20 to 30 times and that Chick-fil-A end up firing him.

[00:09:12]And of course, he hit them with a lawsuit. But it just makes you wonder, a family like the Abaro family who's affluent in the restaurant industry, how many more cases is like this that they're trying to cover?

[00:09:24]>> All right, let me give you a word advice.

[00:09:31]Man, you got to watch what you say >> when you say it >> because this this what I'm saying because because you don't know who speaks Spanish.

[00:09:46]>> Okay. But I'm just saying you need to watch what you say.

[00:09:49]>> Okay. I'm just letting you know though when you talk about people, especially black people, man, watch what you're saying.

[00:10:03]>> So, you know what? That's what I'm saying. They be talking that [ __ ] Spanish thinking people don't understand ass.

[00:10:12]>> So, when you talk ABOUT BLACK FOLKS IN SPANISH, a bunch of what the [ __ ] you saying?

[00:10:19]>> No, y'all talking that [ __ ] [ __ ] Spanish.

[00:10:23]All right, let me give you a word of advice.

[00:10:28]>> The minute you think people are not understanding your language and you can abuse with your language that they don't understand is very sad because people understand different languages. They speak different language. Some can understand and hear, other can understand and also talk different languages. For this man, for them to be calling him names, he could hear every word. They thought he cannot understand Spanish and he could definitely Spanish.

[00:10:55]And I like the way he answered them back in Spanish that I understood all that you said and I know and I can speak it and stop doing this at your place of work. When you go to work anywhere, concentrate on your work. Don't go to work in a certain area, think of how you are going to come for other people thinking you are better than them. You are supposed to concentrate on your work and do it perfectly. not to come for other people thinking you are better than them going to snitch them so that they can be fired. What is your benefit when someone is fired? Are they going to earn more money because just the person has been fired is very sad.

[00:11:33]>> Discrimination in California is a big thing and is frontline in the job markets in the hiring practices. For example, California has one of the highest lawsuits that settled out of court from black people that look like me that's being discriminated by George Hernandez, Maria Sylvia, stuff like that. What am I saying? The Hispanic population in California when they get jobs and they own businesses, they discriminate against blacks. They say if you're not bilingual, if you can't speak Spanish, no, you don't get to work here. That's actually against the law. It also comes out in more subtle ways. What they do is the Spanish speaking community boldly will say, "Replace that one with a Spanish speaking one." They tell the bosses, they tell the managers, "Hey, we want more Spanish speaking people here."

[00:12:24]Boldly, all this is documented. So much so, if you just focus on Los Angeles, matter of fact, you don't want to focus on Los Angeles. Pick one. Riverside, San Bernardino, they have a lot of lawsuits settled out of court. Black people are being discriminated against so bluntly.

[00:12:42]Not in not just in the workforce, in the hiring practices, the job markets. I'm talking about the housing markets, things like that. Black people are now starting to realize and and and come together in California with the acknowledgement and the recognition that hold up, my daughter who went to nursing school, she should have been hired just like the other one, just like Elizabeth and Maria. What happened? Well, when it when she finished nursing school and it was time for her to get employed, the managers, the Spanish speaking community said, "No, we don't want that. We want bilingual girls." Right now in California, black people has been moved and the replacement has come in. Not just the illegal immigrants, the regular ones, the ones who say, "No, a Mexican flag and an American flag."

[00:13:28]Nevertheless, they come together to say, "Whatever the black people were talking about, we don't want to hire them." And then they put the stereotypes. They say all of them are loud, ghetto, not bilingual, uneducated. Would you be surprised? I know Spanish and several of my friends know Spanish, but Spanish isn't enough to get us through the door because of our skin is our sin in California. It's still going on.

[00:13:51]>> Right now, there's some Latinos that want to distance themselves from like the racist Latinos without acknowledging that racism exists in the Latino community. Because I remember growing up and being labeled a word because I had a black friend. Now, this is me growing up in South Central Los Angeles being Mexican-American and other Latinos, Mexican-Americans, would call me a specific word because I had a black friend. And people were labeling me this word from elementary to middle school.

[00:14:16]Experiences like that are a reflection on how normalized antilackness can be in the Latino community and how it becomes so normalized during our development. Go ahead and let me know what you think. I am happy to see black Americans finally having this conversation because another real reason why the job market is so hard for us in these major cities is because non-black Hispanics and Latinos have taken over and they are very antilack and racist and they will do whatever it takes to make sure that black people do not see success. And this is something that I have experienced personally and all of the black people around me have experienced as well. They will make sure you don't get hired. If you do get hired, you will be harassed in the workplace and they will try to get you fired. If they're your case manager, you're not getting that apartment. Trust me. If they are in charge or if they stand in front of any of your opportunities to do better, you're not getting that opportunity.

[00:15:23]You're not getting that job. You're not getting that promotion. You're not getting that apartment. You're not getting that whatever. They are very antilack and racist and they will do whatever it takes to make sure black people do not reach success because they are very comfortable and happy being black dogs for Christopher Columbus' descendants.

[00:15:44]Get mad if you want to. The truth is the truth and the proof is in the pudding.

[00:15:49]Ask any black American you know how it goes in their city.

[00:15:55]You know what we don't talk about enough? Hispanic people being racist towards black people. Especially in the Bronx. If you know, you know. I'm a black woman and I've learned that I can't patronize Hispanic male salons, hair salons, cuz when I walk inside, they're rude. They're nasty. They don't even want to talk to you. And they do that intentionally just so they won't get your service or just so you won't be a customer.

[00:16:25]They don't want to serve you. They want to serve their own kind. And it's [ __ ] up. It's really [ __ ] up. How are you living amongst black people and you don't like us? [laughter] You're rude to us. We're coming into your place of business, spending our money, and you don't know how to smile.

[00:16:45]Hey guys, welcome in. How you doing? You want a manicure? You want a pedicure?

[00:16:49]No. None of that. You walk in and they don't even want to say [ __ ] >> So, I hope your nail salon and your hair salon goes out of business. I really do.

[00:17:03][clears throat] >> So, why don't Latinos like black people?

[00:17:06]I'mma tell you. It's because of our stupid ass Spanish ancestors and their white supremacist [ __ ] Now, when the Spaniards came to the Americas to, you know, colonize, they brought with them something known as casta, a cast system. Here's a historical painting showing the cast system and where people were put into their places. If this is confusing, this will make it a little easier. Now, the top of the casta was the Spaniards, people who actually came from Spain. And the people who usually came from Spain to the Americas were very wealthy aristocrats. Next in the food chain were their descendants, the creoleles. Now they were still Spaniards, but they were lower on the food chain because they were born in the Americas because again, white supremacist [ __ ] Next in the food chain, we have mystisos. These are people descended from Spaniards and Native Americans. And then we have mulattoos, descended from Spaniards and Africans. Now at the bottom of the food chain were Native Americans and African slaves because again, white supremacist is [ __ ] Now, this social structure, these social classes were instituted for centuries in Latin America. But here's where the problem lies. Humans like to [ __ ] each other, whether willingly and with consent or sadly by rape. That means they have babies together. So this social structure doesn't really work when you have a lot of mixed babies because basically everyone became mystiso and mulatto together. Everyone just mixed. So what happens when everyone is mixed? Basically, this middle section disappeared and colorism seeped into our cultures very deeply.

[00:18:27]So, Latinos who were more light-skinned were seen as being higher in the social structure because they were more like Spaniards. And dark-kinned Afro Latinos were seen to be lower in the social structure because they were more like Africans, which again is stupid white supremacist [ __ ] because most Latinos are this middle section like me, mestiso. So, why are many Latinos prejudiced against Afro Latinos and black people? because our racist ass colonizing ancestors taught this to us centuries ago and it's so ingrained into our culture that it's hard to unlearn it. But we need to start putting in the work and start unlearning this white supremacist [ __ ] Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

[00:19:03]>> Latinos has a problem with anti-blackness in their community. And I've seen some of them come out and start in their community. It start from there before they go to other communities, especially to black people in their community. If you are dark, they don't love you. They don't appreciate you and though they don't treat you good like the ones who are lighter. So for the ones who are lighter they feel they are more closer to the white people and they feel they bring down the ones who are dark. And that what is where it goes back to black people. So with black people they don't love black people. They treat them so bad. Is it all Latinos? No. But majority of them there's a lot of antlackness in their community and they accepting that acknowledge we have a problem here. We have a lot of antlackness in our community. We they should change that behavior. But they're not doing it.

[00:19:56]They're extending it to the place of work where they are working. When they go to the where they're working and they see black people, they still come for them cuz to them they feel they are better than black people. They feel they are more qualified than black people.

[00:20:10]That's why you can see and I congratulate that African man right there because of doing the right thing coming out publicly and saying this is not the right thing to do. You cannot go to place of work and the only thing you can do is to snitch other people so that you can be seen as if you are better than them. You are qualified the way they are qualified. They are there because they qualify. You are not the one who is supposed to make decision where someone is to be fired or hired.

[00:20:39]you are not the owner of the company and it's sad to see that people are still going for black people even now to an extent of where they they are working and some places when black people go to look for work some of them they are being asked whether they can speak Spanish if you can speak Spanish you'll be hired is sad these people are speak black people have speaking their English they are speaking English and there are jobs that are there for black black Americans where they can work black Latinos they feel they still feel they should not be hired because they they let their people go and work in those company. It is very very sad cuz there's a lot of anti-blackness in Latino community. Now when you extend it to the places where people are working is very sad and it should stop.
