The 19th century refers to the years 1801-1900, not the 1900s, and collecting cards from this era (such as the 1887 Annie Oakley card shown) represents a significant milestone for collectors, as these early trading cards often have unique characteristics like paper loss that can affect their grade but may make them more affordable.

I bought my first 19th century sports card, and it's a grail!Added:
I just purchased my first 19th century card.
Hey, it's Mike. Thanks for tuning back in. Is it better to say 19th century or card from the 1800s?
Do I think a lot of people still think the 19th century is the 1900s?
Because I posted about it on Twitter a while back and got a couple of replies that were like, "So what? That's junk wax era."
>> [laughter] >> I was like, what?
Um So, we're going to jump right to that card. This is a mail day. And uh yeah, I'm excited about this one.
I also, just today, Friday, secured my uh the grail I've been looking for and coveting for 18 months. I'll talk about that when I get the when I get the card in the mail and I do that mail day, which I don't think it's going to be next week. Maybe it'll be next week, but certainly the week after cuz it goes out in the mail to me on Monday.
All right. This went off to PSA for authentication through the eBay authentication program.
And they, of course, authenticated it because it's an SGC slab, although uh that doesn't necessarily mean that it's legit.
And here is the card. 1887 N28 Annie Oakley.
With glare. There we go.
It's a one. And I believe it's a one. Actually, no, I know it's a one now.
Because it's got some paper loss on the back.
And as you know, if you've been following me for a while, couldn't care less about paper loss on the back. In fact, I welcome it because it drops the grade. This looks like it would be a I I know.
A three maybe without the paper loss on the back.
And so I ended up getting it for [snorts] a very affordable price.
And again, it's my first 19th century card.
Annie Oakley Go read some stories about Annie Oakley.
Go read her Wikipedia page.
She was the best marksman marks person of her era and yeah, just some crazy stories.
So let's jump in some other stuff.
Next item is a I don't even know what this is to be honest with you.
It's a rave of thunder rave >> [snorts] >> no mar card.
It's numbered to 150 as you can see there.
Um this is from 1998.
It's a tough get.
It is a tough get, but I'm really excited to add this to my burgeoning no mar collection.
Comes with tape on the top loader which, you know, everybody loves that.
As always, mail days are sponsored by the penny sleever and I have these amazing black magnetic card holders from the penny sleever.
It's almost like grading with SGC. Look at how great that looks.
What a great looking card in that black magnetic case.
So go up on my wall very soon.
Use my code JWH2025 for your first order at the pennysleever.com.
They have the most bonkers review, the most amazing review came in from a viewer of my channel recently.
Uh he said I'm I'm going to put it up here. You're not going to be able to read it, but it's it's very very long.
If you want to read it, you can go out to the penny sleever uh social media pages cuz they've posted it.
Um he said that he didn't he he's a fan of my channel and he didn't believe he just thought that everybody was promoting something didn't really believe in the products and uh they're just he what he said was he figured I was just bumping gum.
Which is not a phrase I'd ever heard before.
I Googled it. Bumping gums means just basically flapping your gums just talking uh and not really believing what you're saying I guess. Um I I'd never heard this before and it was very very funny.
Um so anyway, fantastic review very very long. The guy put a lot of thought into it.
And there is the card.
Link is in the description to this video.
Another growing collection of mine is the 2004 Red Sox refractors.
This is Byung-Hyun Kim.
This is just the base refractor. Really happy to add this. This will go I haven't quite figured out now. I'm going to do a big reveal of the shelves behind me at some point in the near future. I'm going to do the my weird wall is what I'm kind of calling this wall. I already last week if you haven't seen it yet, I did my wall of fame.
This one is my weird wall and then I have my display case and then I've got the shelves behind me.
So uh at some point we'll get to the shelves behind me. May- maybe this summer.
Johnny Damon 2004 Topps Chrome base refractor.
This and the Byung-Hyun Kim will go great in my display also in Penny sleever magnetic card cases.
Three in a row here. Ramiro Mendoza.
Another 2004 Red Sox refractor.
Closing in on getting the full all the ones that I want, like I don't want to I don't care about those players who were not never played a game for the Red Sox or they weren't on the postseason roster.
Guys like that that, you know, they got one at bat in one game.
Not going to try to collect all of those, but if they were on the postseason roster, they played in the World Series, they contributed uh even Nomar because Nomar was traded midway through 2004. I I want all of his.
This is from Sam, uh one of the all-time great commenters here on my channel and I'm sure others, too.
Uh just super seems like and I've never met Sam, I don't believe. I hope I get to meet him at a card show, maybe at the National this year.
Uh seems like a Hall of Fame nice guy to me. And he wrote, "Mike, there's a note on the back of the card for the viewer binder, which is awesome." Oh, look at this.
Wow, this is awesome. So, if you're not familiar, I have a viewer binder which was sent to me by George and George signed he himself signed his favorite card.
Uh and then he put it in a binder mailed it to me and said, "You should have your viewers sign their own favorite cards, not cards of themselves, but you know, card card that you love from your childhood or from today or it's maybe it's just a card of your favorite player of all time and you sign it and mail it to me.
I'll put my address up here.
And Sam sent me a Jose Ramirez rookie card that he himself, Sam, signed and he wrote, "Yes, I defaced a $30 rookie card LOL.
Here's my favorite card for your viewer album, 2014 Topps Jose Ramirez rookie card. Sorry it took so long. Thanks for all you do for the hobby community. It keeps some of us feeling part of something special.
And as you can guess, Sam is from Ohio.
So thank you, Sam. This was awesome. I can't wait to put this in my binder, which I will be showing at some point in the near future.
Last item.
This is the Dave Roberts stealing second base bobblehead.
I'm going to ask you, what is the most important or greatest moment in your team's history?
I think for me, or maybe in your lifetime, I think for me, it's Dave Roberts stealing that base.
Am I going to open it? You betcha. It's going to go right up here.
On this side, it says Dave Roberts.
You can see he's sliding into second base.
And on this side, it has the date of the stolen base.
And I like the ones that are meaningful.
They, you know, most of my bobbleheads are are just basic bobbleheads.
But this one is from a specific moment in time, and it's different than, you know, all the other ones. So I love this. Very happy with this.
That's it for today, guys. I will see you very soon. Thanks for watching.
