A Level Physics is divided into AS Level (first year) and A2 Level (second year), with AS covering 3 papers (P1 MCQs, P2 Theory, P3 Practical) and A2 covering 2 papers (P4 Theory, P5 Planning, Analysis and Evaluation). The AS syllabus is heavily weighted toward General Physics (6 out of 11 chapters), while A2 covers a broader spectrum including Gravitational Fields, Thermodynamics, Oscillations, Capacitance, Quantum Physics, Medical Physics, and Astronomy. A Level Physics is highly maths-intensive, requiring strong skills in ratios, proportions, linear laws, trigonometry, and algebra, with a strong emphasis on critical thinking and problem-solving rather than straightforward questions. The MCQ paper is particularly challenging, with 40 questions in 1 hour 15 minutes, and students should maintain their O Level Maths foundation throughout.
