[00:08:07]You people generally used to opt and attempt nine to ten subjects. The general trend in Ovals in terms of subjects is three to a maximum of four subjects.

[00:09:58]So here it is important to understand how you will tackle A Level Physics.

[00:10:05]I always tell my children a few things about A Level Physics.

[00:10:12]Look, when you give A levels, we have A levels generally in Pakistan and even in UAE, Saudia etc., we have A levels within two years. There are places where it happens in a year.

[00:10:26]But we give it in two years.

[00:10:28]Our [nasal sound] A levels are divided into two parts.

[00:10:35]AS & A2 right? AS Level which is our This is kind of like your first year.

[00:10:47]And A2 level is your second year.

[00:10:54]Like you, in O levels, Physics had three components, MCQs, Theory and ATP.

[00:11:00]In A levels we have five components.

[00:11:05]Which ones?

[00:11:08]P1 MCQs P2 Theory P3 Practical Skills This is the actual practical experience.

[00:11:28]P4 Another Thiry NP5 Planning Analysis and Evaluation. There are five papers. Out of these five, you give the first three papers in AS.

[00:12:07]And the two papers that remain, P4 and P5, you give them inside A2.

[00:12:13]This way your syllabus is prepared.

[00:12:16]You complete one of your subjects in two years.

[00:12:18]And the same goes for your like chemistry and biology and maths. Its syllabus is divided into two halves.

[00:12:26]One half is taught in the first year and the other half in the second year. That is, one in AS and the other inside A2. So it takes you 2 years to complete your syllabus.

[00:12:38]Now here the chapters are different. Do not assume that the chapters you studied in AS are the same chapters you study in A2.

[00:12:48]No, they are completely different.

[00:12:51]In many cases, there may be some similarity in Maths. The first chapter should be an extension of what you read in AS. But in Physics, the content of I Can Tell You A2 is very different from AS.

[00:13:04]One thing that I have observed over the years is that the examiner advances some chapters of your O levels to AS and advances some chapters to A2.

[00:13:17]Plus some very new chapters.

[00:13:22]In A2 he adds a few more new chapters.

[00:13:24]But in O levels, like I teach you Electricity and Magnetism, he has kept Electricity in AS.

[00:13:31]Magnetism is placed in A2.

[00:13:37]Understanding of all these concepts like motors, generators is in A2. But he kept the circuits in AS. He did this.

[00:13:51]General Physics General Physics was not included in A2 within the entire AS. A lot of advancements were made in it and some new chapters were included.

[00:14:23]Now my children, what happens over here is that I do n't know why the examiner suddenly falls in love with Maths. Our A- Level Physics examiner loves Maths. So your A level Physics is extremely maths intensive, there is a lot of maths over there, ratios, proportions, your linear law concepts, all these things like trigonometry, he wants a candidate to be like you understand a math genius, so in being maths intensive, it means if I tell you some such topics, then he wants you to be really good with ratios, he wants you to be really good with proportions, the concept of proportionality is correct, he wants to be really good with linear law, how do you compare equations y with x + c, he wants to be really good with graphs, he wants you to be really good with trigonometry, anyone wants to be really good with estimations, a kid must know what could be the answer of this question.

[00:16:45]His favorite domain is critical thinking, not a single question which would be straight forward.

[00:16:55]Very few straight forward questions come in AS in theory, then he gives them not in MCQs, he doesn't develop around that area, he wants a candidate to think, he wants the student to make connections, he wants the child to know that if this happens then this will happen to him, this will happen to him and because of that this result will come. He Wants a Kid to Make Connections.

[00:17:18]This kind of work was very rare in O levels.

[00:17:24]Even in O level questions, especially in MCQs, we used to tell you not to make such big connections.

[00:17:29]Maximum, if you were solving any numerical problem, then you had the data in front of you and you knew that I have only one equation with which this question can be solved, so put it in, but in A levels the examiner does not do this, the A levels examiner gives you the data in a little concealed wording, he wants you to dig it out yourself, so sometimes he gives some extra information and you have a variety of equations that one quantity can come out from four different equations.

[00:18:01]You have to think which equation is suitable for this work. And sometimes, not just one but two equations have to be applied to reach the answer. This also happens. There is involvement of critical thinking here.

[00:18:17]So this thing is not our issue, basically we are not used to this thing.

[00:18:25]We are not so prone to its meaning and what happens is that brother you go into the worst level and the first chapter it is a very slow ball, loose ball, you start playing it, you say okay it is on, friend, I will handle it, but then suddenly chapter number two comes up and something happens and you are like I am losing it because you are not ready for those critical thinking type of numericals, but it happens to you. [00:19:09]How does the examiner involve proportionalities, linear laws, trigonometry in Physics? So I want to give you an idea about it.

[00:19:15]Look at this, understand that thing. This is how the examiner gets it done. So that when you come and sit in AS class for the first time, you will be mentally prepared. Yes, I have to use maths in this.

[00:19:25]I have to apply maths to it. I know.

[00:19:29]I usually tell my children.

[00:19:31]Well, we cannot say that to the Bio students but do not drop Maths at any cost.

[00:19:39]Maths is very important. Read.

[00:19:42]If a bio student takes maths then it would be great.

[00:19:47]But generally what happens in this is that kids who are actually of Biology go for Maths and like soon it happens that they start losing it because they are not able to remember this thing, they were not practicing Maths, they had studied O level in AS, 4 months, 5 months have passed, now they don't know what is going on, they get worried, that is why do not throw away your O level Maths books, their notes, keep them safely, they will be useful for you, okay now let me move towards the syllabus. Ok? And after that I will also randomly have a discussion with you guys regarding the introduction.

[00:20:30]Here is your syllabus overview.

[00:20:35]These chapters which you have written in the beginning are of AS Level Physics. In this you can see that more than half of your syllabus is General Physics.

[00:20:59]Out of 11 chapters six are your General Physics. That is why whether you are a private candidate or you go to any college in August-September, that is, understand it like this, August-September-October-November-December even at times, you are studying General Physics till mid-January.

[00:21:27]And you have reached a point where you might be feeling a little fed up.

[00:21:29]What is it friend? Why is this not ending? So this is such a big portion.

[00:21:35]Because of this it is more than half of your syllabus. That's why it takes time. So wherever you are, whether you are studying in a coaching centre on-site, you are studying from a teacher online or you are in a college, you will always see that teachers are going to take a lot of time to cover these things.

[00:21:54]This thing is your waves section. Waves and Superposition.

[00:21:59]Superposition is something really new. In this you read what happens when two waves meet each other? Like if two waves are traveling and they just merge over one another.

[00:22:13]Similarly, this is your electricity. Two small chapters.

[00:22:18]Look how small they are. It takes us one month to cover these. Takes more like not more than a month. 1 month maximum 1 1/2 months are completed.

[00:22:30]So if you ask me, from mid-January till the very end, then say mid-February or March, that is, end of February.

[00:22:49]Our waves are complete.

[00:22:52]Then after that, The Month of March is for Electricity and Particle Physics is a chapter. So to complete this, all it takes is three classes for every teacher. It takes like three classes.

[00:23:08]So March and then finally you can understand that last week of March or most probably first week of April is completed.

[00:23:34]This is how your AS pattern plays out.

[00:23:38]And in colleges, this process is usually done in March itself.

[00:23:42]Because from mid-March onwards, you all will have mock examinations again. So in college we need to take some extra classes and everything. Let us expand that page a little and take it forward.

[00:23:54]So I remember when I was AS back then, it took me almost the same amount of time to complete More or Less.

[00:24:05]Just look at these chapters of 8.

[00:24:08]Then one thing will be visible. The horizon of A2 is very broad. Do You See the Variety? Gravitational Fields, Thermodynamics, Oscillations, Capacitance, Quantum Physics, Medical Physics, Astronomy and Cosmology. Do You See the Horizon? How broad spectrum is your A2?

[00:24:36]When you go for the very broad spectrum, your difficulty level becomes a little moderate.

[00:24:42]Because of that you are reading many things for the first time.

[00:24:53]But in AS itself does the exact opposite.

[00:24:55]Look at the names of the chapters, it seems that you have written the names of O level chapters here.

[00:25:03]Now he takes you very deep into the ocean of AS Physics. Brother, you should do critical thinking. That's why you get a little tired in it. You get exhausted. You also get worried.

[00:25:16]But once you cross your AS now you are like. Well, now nothing in life will seem difficult to me. Now I can do everything.

[00:25:25]So if you did your A levels, that's what you feel. I can do everything now, I am through.

[00:25:53]As far as distribution of structuring is concerned. So your MCQ is basically an hour and a 15 minute long paper which has 40 MCQs to deal with. Now [nasal sound] you're thinking, right, in O levels you get used to getting one hour. He is not giving you 15 minutes because he feels pity for you. He is giving you 15 minutes because now these 40 MCQs cannot be completed even in 1 hour and 15 minutes.

[00:26:21]Meaning he says that brother, try it, the more you do, the better it is. And the MCQ paper, if my audience has done A levels with me or has done A levels, they will know that it is the most infamous paper. This is the most difficult paper. MCQs Out of the five, this is the only paper that bothers you. No one else does this much.

[00:26:48][nasal sound] After this you go to paper 2, which is your theory paper on structured questions, you can also check this, it is of 1 hour 15 minutes and it is for 60 marks, in this explain and describe and state such questions come, there are five to six six to seven questions, maximum you get six to seven questions in it, not more than this, okay? And you must be realizing from your AS that this is a major portion, son.

[00:27:25]Your grade depends a lot on this.

[00:27:28]46% Like Approximately half of your grade is based on your PT.

[00:27:34]And I have seen kids out of 60 who are getting good grades. Usually around 42 he gives A grade. 42 and plus.

[00:27:45]What I have seen in MCQs is around 28 out of 40 and plus he is allotting you A grade.

[00:28:08]And thirdly your practical paper. Advanced Practical Skills. The paper is of 2 hours duration. The paper is of 40 marks. Let me explain to you how it is structured.

[00:28:20]This is not for biology. There are two questions in the practical paper.

[00:28:30]Both of these are lab based questions.

[00:28:32]But you are given one hour each to do both of these.

[00:28:34]What happens in this is that after one hour the examiner will take you from one setup and make you sit on another setup. That is, what happens in the lab is that you have Ross attached to you.

[00:28:49]Right, the setups that are there for your question number one and question number two, that brother, all these are the students of question number two.

[00:28:56]These are all the students with question number one. The time started. Some children might have stood here and some children might have stood here. The apparatus for Question Two will have been given to them earlier and they will start asking questions.

[00:29:10]As soon as one hour is over, the students who had question one will be told that brother, now you should go to the place of question two and those who had question two will be told to come to question one, then the next hour starts, now you will do the second question, so what happens in this is that you have to complete that question in 1 hour otherwise the apparatus will go out of your hand, so generally the students do the work of taking the reading because the apparatus goes out, then they say that we will do the calculations later, there is only one paper, so the data will come, after that the calculations will continue but the data should be collected properly, so the practical paper is something like this and each question is of 20-20 marks, total 40 marks, so within this, its weightage is reduced a little comparatively, it is 23% weightage, if I tell you mine, you people will laugh, when I gave AS Physics, I had an AS In AS Physics, my overall grade in Physics was A. In AS, my breakup in MCQs was of MCQ theory and AT practical.

[00:30:18]In MCQs, I had an A, in theory I had an A, in practical I had a B. So, I got an A in Physics. You know, I had an A in Chemistry. I got an A in AS Chemistry too, but its stories are very interesting.

[00:30:41]My chemistry was better than my physics. I always tell my children.

[00:30:44]My chemistry was better than my physics. So in chemistry I had n n mcqs n n theory. I had a D in practicals.

[00:30:59]Still, this happened to me. But after that I realized one thing.

[00:31:04]I can't convert this to A star within A2.

[00:31:08]Because this A is neither exactly what it is called nor is it a boundary nor was it going to become B, it was just saved by one or two numbers. It seemed to me that that one was made because Practical Mac D.

[00:31:21]So this thing happens a little bit. But through this we also give some consolation to the children that if God forbid your practical paper goes very bad then keep your theory and MCQs very good. Because their weightage is high. They affect your grades more.

[00:31:36]You can reduce the impact of theory paper and practical paper a little bit if you do very well in MCQs and theory.

[00:31:46]You have also seen the MCQ paper in O Levels, it is held in June. The same thing happens in AS.

[00:31:51]So by the time you reach MCQs, you know what you have done in the past. Like I knew what I had done in practical.

[00:31:58]So I knew brother, now I will have to do my theory and MCQ very well.

[00:32:02]So I worked really hard for that.

[00:32:04]I worked really hard. My first chemistry paper was a practical paper and I messed it up. So I managed my further preparations accordingly.

[00:32:19]This completes your AS. In A2, when you start reading new chapters, the examiner gives you questions in a new way.

[00:32:27]Paper Four of A2, which is a theory paper, is of 2 hours duration and carries 100 marks. This is a long paper. Just look at how many chapters there are.

[00:32:40]You get approximately 12 to 14 questions.

[00:32:49]All the big and small things together are for 100 marks.

[00:32:52]So you have to solve this paper also at a very high speed.

[00:32:55]And this is going to create the biggest impact when your overall grade for A levels is made.

[00:33:06]And the last one is your Planning, Analysis and Evaluation paper.

[00:33:14]This is a 1 hour 15 minutes paper of 30 marks.

[00:33:16]This is easy. We do not do practical in this.

[00:33:19]We design the practical so that if we had to conduct an experiment, how would we do it?

[00:33:27]Which apparatus would have to be given? How would it be arranged, how would the readings be taken?

[00:33:31]Meaning you become the examiner and the examiner becomes the candidate. At the time of this paper. You have to plan the entire experiment that this work will be done like this.

[00:33:42]The examiner gives you the scenario. He says brother, I have to check this thing. Tell me how to do it? Then you tell me brother, we will do it like this.

[00:33:50]So these are those five papers and let me tell you that in AS you can get only A grade, maximum A star cannot be obtained because in AS you should understand that your entire paper is not over yet.

[00:34:14]So after you get your A2 grade, when it is plus the AS grade and combined, you get an A star. So the top grade that you can actually have in AS is nothing more than that.

[00:34:34]So in this paper five, understand that the six marker or A marker type questions that you have done in ATP, there is a higher level of experiment designing, this thing happens here. As for the rest of your further and further detailing, you learn it by referring to the chapters when you are reading.

[00:35:05]Your syllabus was updated just last time. There are no new updates as of now as all the content from 2025 to 2027 is the same as it used to be.

[00:35:15]So you need not to worry about this fact. Whatever your content is, if any of you follows anyone's content, is reading it on YouTube, then whatever is uploaded by them, you can follow it easily. Whatever classes we conduct, we will conduct them in the same manner.

[00:35:30]Yes, those of my students who study with me in college or are studying with me in coaching etc. Right now many such students are sitting there. So, from their point of view, let me tell them that when our session starts from August, then every month of ours is planned in such a way that we will do which chapters in which month.
