[00:00:00]Everybody, David, Quad2 Electric. Right now, we are in the middle of tornado season and I wanted to take time to talk about whole home surge protection. If you don't have a whole home surge protector in your house, you really need one.

[00:00:18]I have gone to houses that had nearby lightning strikes, across the street, a neighbor's house. It took out all of their lighting.

[00:00:28]Gone to homes that took out all of their GFI outlets, burned up their wire. These are costly damages that could have been avoided by having a surge protector installed at your panel. Not all surge protectors are equal. There are some that have very minimal warranty on them. They expire after 2 years, cover $10,000 in damages.

[00:00:56]That's not ideal when you're looking at wiring damage, AC damage. The ones we install from the manufacturer come with a lifetime warranty and cover up to $100,000 in damages. We also recommend installing what's called point of use surge protection, outside AC unit, your air handler in the attic, electric water heaters, major appliances like that because surges don't just happen during lightning. They also happen every time your AC kicks on, it causes a surge.

[00:01:28]Major appliances will go out faster if they aren't protected by a surge protector. It causes damages that you don't see coming and little by little it wears out the components inside those appliances.
