Strong storms could bring damaging wind, isolated tornado risk to Middle TennesseeAñadido:
And we begin tonight with a Fox 17 News Code Red Weather Alert. Over the next 24 hours, we've got the chance of severe weather. Now, we're talking about damaging winds, which look to be the main threat, but a spin-up tornado is not completely out of the question, we want you to be aware. Fox 17 News Code Red Weather Meteorologist Katie Morgan in the weather center now with the Katie, I guess the the likelihood as well as the timing. It's a low threat, Scott, and a lot of these storms that we see throughout the next several days will continue to pulse and could bring us isolated wind gusts. Tomorrow, slightly different in that we have a warm front coming through midday, and sometimes that can provide just a little more energy for some stronger thunderstorms to occur, which unfortunately does include a spin-up tornado risk. So, again, it's an overall low threat. Damaging wind will be the main concern, but it is something that we want to be aware of, and it does include all of Middle Tennessee. We zoom out, here you can see the front draped to our south at the moment. As we get into Friday, this will reimagine itself and turn into a warm front as we head through the afternoon hours on Friday. But, we'll see some showers and storms through the remainder of this afternoon into the early evening, and then going into, again, tomorrow, more of the same with these heavy pockets of rain that'll be with us as well. Things dry downtown on Broadway at the moment, temperature is sitting at 78 under a mostly cloudy sky. As we head through the evening hours, we'll continue to see the chance of showers and thunderstorms around, and staying mild, too, with temperatures in those upper 70s to low 70s. Overnight, we're looking at another mild night, as well, with those temperatures dropping back into the low 70s to upper 60s here, mid to upper 60s. So, again, warm night ahead. We'll talk more about our storm risk as we head through the daytime hours. Tomorrow morning should start relatively quiet, but we'll have the chance for a few showers around. More on the potential for a few strong thunderstorms in the afternoon in your Fox 17 Code Red Forecast.
