Feels like temperatures over 100 degrees

[00:00:00]All right, we've we've got ourselves Today's an interesting day, because it is super hot, but the feels like temperatures are up around 105. So, we have that nice breeze blowing. I'm sure you guys noticed it, but it was like you were in a convection oven, because it was it is so hot, but it is a dry heat, no doubt.

[00:00:18]But, those feels like temperatures are up 105, 106. You could argue we could be up near heat advisory levels. Not a lot of rain. We did see a bit, and as Bertha moves away, it's going to take that pressure gradient along with it. So, the winds will start to subside tomorrow.

[00:00:35]And then, we're just kind of back into some drier air and lower rain chances.

[00:00:39]So, there's a live look at radar right now. Sumter County, Eastern Pasco, Eastern Hernando picking up some rain.

[00:00:45]These are bands or outer moisture feeds, I guess. And it's all rotating from south to north. So, this will continue to lift off to the north and then eventually northwest. And another area down Eastern Polk, Hardee, DeSoto, and Highlands, same thing.

[00:01:00]All moving in that general direction. We did see some rain out there this morning, and overall the last 24 hours, again, heaviest rain, and we talked about this yesterday, setting up just to the west of our coastline. So, you see where the blue colors are, unfortunately, it's not where we are. There were a few spots in Pinellas and in Manatee and Sarasota that picked up some rain, an inch, inch and a half, but today you'd notice the difference. It was drier, it was hotter, and it was sunnier. And the sunshine was nice. And a lot of folks are like, "Yeah, I don't mind this kind of sunshine after four or five days of rain." Temperatures right now, the sun will do that for you this time of the year, reaching the middle 90s.

[00:01:39]But, look at those feels like temps, well over 100 in a lot, if not most, of the area, borderline heat advisory. Typically, the weather service will issue a heat advisory if those feels like temps are 105 or greater. So, we weren't quite there, but pretty close to it. Tampa right now, 88, partly sunny, but feels like an even 100. Look at the dew point, 77°. That's July weather. The one thing we're missing now are those widespread afternoon and evening storms. And while there are a few showers out there, that's really more to deal with what's left of Bertha than anything else.

[00:02:13]Tomorrow, as it moves away, even drier air continues to come in. And our rain chances tomorrow are probably about 10% or less. There will not be a lot of rain out there. If it does pop, it'll be more late day, early evening variety, and they are going to try to come back toward the coastline. Thursday, about the same, 10, maybe 20% coverage. Next week, interesting. So, a lot of the models are hinting at a front making it very far south and bringing us another chance of some rain. That is El Niño. I'm just telling you, over the next several months, I think there's a really good chance, and especially late in the fall, we're going to start to see something we don't normally see, fronts making it farther south in the Southeast, and every now and again, even into Florida, bumping up our rain chances. That would be next week. This week, pretty dry after the rains we've seen over the last three or four days, and nothing more than some scattered showers. All right, 60-mph winds, there's your center.

[00:03:09]There's all the weather with Bertha, south, because the upper-level winds are blasting everything in this general direction. Tropical storms and hurricanes do not do well when they're not enveloped by all the storminess. So, this is a a ragged system. It's got wind in a little bit of it, not a big deal. I don't think this is going to Even though landfall will occur tomorrow sometime, you know, in Southeast Louisiana, I don't think it's going to be a big deal.

[00:03:36]There'll be some gusty winds, maybe a foot or two of surge, but otherwise, I don't think she's going to be much of a problem. And if you look at future cast, you can kind of see what we're saying here. It may even fizzle out entirely, but if it doesn't, it just kind of lingers as a weak system across the northern Gulf. For us, there's the 7-day, high temperatures, low to mid-90s, morning lows around 80. Rain chances much, much lower. We'll see about next week. Maybe they bump right back up again, guys.
