Paramount’s 2026 slate is a masterclass in creative risk aversion, prioritizing franchise recycling over original storytelling. It’s a pragmatic survival strategy that secures the box office while highlighting the industry's growing deficit of new ideas.

CinemaCon 2026 All Paramount Announcments (Trailer & Footage)Ajouté :
Paramount just wrapped up their Cineacon panel and like I've been doing with the past couple studios, we are once again breaking down all the announcements, trailers, footage, and things you need to know. This is the second to last panel. We have Disney left. A lot of people hoping for big stuff. We'll wait to see on that, but for now, let's dive into the Paramount panel. though real quick. They began off with David Ellison, the CEO of Paramount, who attendees say he felt kind of awkward on stage, but he did talk about the potential merger with Warner Brothers and promising a 45day minimum window with his films along with waiting 90 days for them to hit VOD/Digital.
After talking about that, they went into a rapidfire video just showcasing a bunch of their upcoming movies in the next couple of years. Not really giving much information, but some of the movies showed off was Top Gun Maverick is going to be getting a sequel. I'm still so shocked with how much I ended up loving Top Gun Maverick, so sign me up for whatever they decide to do with the third movie. They confirmed a new Transformers movie is in the works, but no idea if this is the G.I. Joe crossover or something new, possibly with director Michael Bay. They talked about more TMNT headed our way. And we did get news reports of that earlier in the year that Paramount wants to go big with the Ninja Turtles. Not just the Mutant Mayhem sequel that is confirmed to have Shredder and Crang show up, but also the liveaction movie that they're currently working on and is the reason the rated Ronin movie got put on hold.
They also talked about a new G.I. Joe movie. Last we heard it was Danny McBride whose script is going to be used for that. Hopefully that turns out good.
A new Star Trek movie in the works. Not many details on that, but you can bet your butt it's a reboot and not involving the recent cast with Chris Pine. A new World War Z movie is finally happening. This is a film that has been trying to get a sequel for many years, but it keeps getting delayed or put on the shelf. And now it looks like it's finally happening, but no word if it's with Brad Pitt, a continuation of the story, or something new. John Krinski quickly talked about A Quiet Place 3 and how he's excited for this next installment and that it will be a lot bigger than the first two. They briefly mentioned the Call of Duty movie that has a release date of June 30th, 2028 with a logo that is just extremely similar to the logo on the video games and it is being directed by Peter Berg and co-written by Taylor Sheeran.
Honestly have no idea what to expect from this. I've played my share of Call of Duty games, but I can't fathom how you make that into a movie that doesn't just feel like a generic war film. But I want to see them do it. And you know, if this goes well, they'll do a zombie movie. But the rapid fire one that I definitely want to spend some time talking about is their little tease for Sonic Movie 4. That's right. Sonic the Hedgehog 4 was showcased with a little teaser and some footage letting you know they're already rolling the camera on this. James Marsden introduced the video and it just showcased shots of Sonic, Shadow, and Amy Rose, voiced by Kristen Bell, ending off with a shot of Robotnik, played by Jim Carrey, who is getting out of a spaceship and claims Robotnik saves the world. And okay, this has already gotten Sonic fans going crazy, I think, for a couple of reasons.
Some people, I think, are misinterpreting this clip, which makes sense. You know, we didn't get to see it with our eyes, and we're just reading secondhand information. The misinterpretation part is some people are taking that dialogue that Jim Carrey says of Robotnik saves the world as that is his mission in Sonic 4. When looking more into it, it looks like it's just a continuation and the setup for how he survived and is going to be in Sonic 4.
Because the spaceship he is stepping out of sounds like it's the spaceship that exploded at the end of Sonic 3, where if you've watched my videos, you know my theory is that that spaceship didn't explode, but instead it got sent through time. So Robotnik didn't get disintegrated. And I think this is him just going, "Hey, I I just saved the world," which is what he did at the end of Sonic 3. But okay, glad they're not going immediately into turning Robotnik back to being evil. We know he'll probably somehow still be the villain of this movie or do something villainy, but the film is continuing off with where we left him in him being like, "Hey, I just saved the world. Now what?" Then surprisingly, Billy Isish and James Cameron took to the stage to talk about their concert movie. That's just two people I didn't expect to be working on some sort of film, but it's going to be called Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour Live in 3D. And again, it's one of those concert movies, but the reason James Cameron is involved is because he's introducing new technology that'll really immerse you and make you feel like you were part of the concert. You know, I laugh at these things, but Taylor Swift and other artists have shown if you put a concert movie in theaters, the fans will show up and it'll make some money. It's just kind of funny to think James Cameron's using his Avatar Na'vi tech to film a concert.
From there, they showcased Scary Movie 6 where they had Marlin and Shawn Weighins along with Anna Ferris on stage. The attendees said that they had great banter and were making people laugh and were just really letting them know that nobody is safe with Scary Movie 6 and that the film is an equal opportunity offender where then they showed some footage of the movie. Now, I don't want to go into every single joke cuz I think some of y'all want it to be saved for the movie and it's just not as funny to be read in the description form. But two of the jokes that definitely stood out and are having people talk a lot is one, Regina Hall tries to make a reference to the movie Ballerina starring Anna de Armos. But in the movie, she goes, "Ah, never mind. Nobody even saw that, so what's the point of making the reference?" I thought that's funny. But probably scariest of all is that the movie Scary Movie 6 will include a 67 joke. He said it's part of the weapons parody where a group of kids will have a bunch of drugs at 2:17 a.m. Quoting saying, "I'm so effing high right now."
67. Funny enough, I think more people will be offended that there is a 67 joke than a racism, a homophobic joke. I know someone right now is in the comments going, "67 isn't even that funny. Can we stop with this?" You're getting offended. It's scary movie 6 already, buddy. Then Johnny and Oxville got on stage to present the trailer and footage for the final Jackass movie. The movie is going to be titled Jackass Best and Last, marking this as the final Jackass film. The trailer is set to be very nostalgic with including clips of cast members and stunts from previous movies while also giving you a taste of some of the new things that they're going to be doing. One of those things including Steo getting finger blasted by a robot.
There's also supposed to be an escape room stunt where they get punished if they get things wrong. I remember watching the Jackass movies and I remember even Jackass 3D was my first Jackass movie in theaters and it was also a film I had to sneak into cuz I was so young. But they're a good time and I'm sure this will also be emotional giving some of the cast members that have died. Then they moved on to showcase a little bit of Angry Birds 3.
I am still so surprised we are getting a third Angry Birds movie. I felt like that era has passed, but I'm sure there are fans and there people excited for it. And this time around, we are going to be following Redbird becoming a father and dealing with his children.
They have it here. It shows Red, voiced by Jason Sedakus, as a professional full-time parent. He has a baby bird, a young bird, and a teenage bird who's annoyed by him. Hey, look, I'm not going to knock it too much here. I just became a dad, so maybe I'll be watching this going, I relate, cuz I'm a father now.
Next up, they moved on to showcase Street Fighter that actually got a brand new trailer released online today. And I can't believe how much my opinion on this movie has changed since the announcement of the cast. Cuz whenever the cast got revealed and those posters came out, I was laughing, pointing, and saying, "This is the next Borderlands movie waiting to happen." And oh my goodness, that first trailer actually got me a little excited. And now this second trailer even more excited. They seem to fully be leaning into and embracing their video game counterpart down to the sound effects, the music, the colors, the costumes, and you can tell the movie isn't exactly taking itself too seriously, but it looks like it's serious enough for you to be immersed in this world. A lot of the casting choices are now growing on me.
Like Noah Centino as Ken is looking to have a blast. 50 Cent looks fun. Even Jason Mamoa playing Blanca. And bro, Ryu at the end forming his broken.
Okay, I am locked in for this. This could still end up being complete garbage and a waste of time, but I don't know. Count me like actually really looking forward to this. I I got hype.
Also worth mentioning, Andrew Schultz has officially squashed the beef with Mortal Kombat 2. If you guys remember, I think it was at the Game Awards, Andrew Schultz got on stage and was like, "Hey, the Mortal Kombat cast is here. Just kidding. They don't care about you and they only care about money, so we're better." A lot of people were pissed about that. And even the Mortal Kombat people didn't lean into the beef. They were like, "Oh, don't know why they would say that. Good luck with your movie, though." And so, no, Andrew Schultz got on Cineon stage and said, "Uh, Mortal Kombat 2 looks awesome, guys. Hope you go watch both our movies." I wouldn't be surprised if the studio made him do that. Next, people were then shown their first look to the new David Cornswe movie entitled Mr. Irrelevant. The film follows John Tuggle, who was given the title of Mr. irrelevant after being picked last of the last round in the 1983 NFL draft.
It's an underdog emotional story where people said that the trailer makes this movie look really good. It's got everything you might want. Comedy, drama, and the type of film that makes you feel good inside. You know me, I'm not much of a sports person, but I do love me a good sports movie. And something like this of a person who was just thought of nothing and I'm guessing proves others wrong or pushed through to greatness is something I'm for sure invested in. And David Cornst also looks great in some of those first looks. Next up, they showed off a new Brad Pitt movie entitled Heart of the Beast. That honestly sounds pretty dope. The film follows Brad Pitt who plays a special forces soldier with his dog who after a plane crash land in the Alaskan wilderness where they have to fend off against bears, wolves really just looks like a survival story and my goodness.
Okay, a man and his dog and if that dog dies, I need a refund. Paramount. Still though, just the idea of a guy surviving with his dog in the woods and fighting other animals. Yeah, two tickets, please. Next up, they showed off a movie entitled K-pop Superstar. Doesn't have anything to do with K-pop Demon Hunters, but instead is going to be an inspiring movie about a young woman who's trying to become a K-pop superstar. The movie was filmed entirely in South Korea, and it's really about pursuing your dreams and finding your voice. I'm sure there's an audience for that. Next up, we have the new Tai West movie. You might remember Tai West for doing the Pearl trilogy with Mia Goth. Well, this time around he's bringing us another rendition of A Christmas Carol entitled Ebenezer A Christmas Carol. This one is starring Johnny Depp, who attendees say that once Johnny Depp walked on stage, the crowd was filled with loud applauses. I'm going to be honest with you, I'm someone that's kind of sick of the Christmas Carol story. I've seen so many different movies from the Muppets version, the Jim Carrey version, the Bill Murray version, the Will Frell and Ryan Reynolds reinvention on it.
Christmas Carol isn't exactly a story that gets me jumping up and down, but hey, if I see the trailer and it looks cool, I'll give it a shot. Tai West is usually known for horror, so I wonder if there's more of a horror twist to this, but okay, that's happening. Ending things off with showcasing a new young adult sci-fi fantasy movie entitled Children of Blood and Bone. We have here a logo along with some of the cast members involved in this movie. Really a stellar cast. Idris Ela, Viola Davis, Cynthia Revo, Dameson Idris, Chuel, Edgio. I don't know much about this, but it says the film follows a young woman living in a fantasy African kingdom who must reclaim the magic that was stolen from her people by King Sarin. Could be interesting. You know me, I'm not much of a fantasy guy, but maybe when I see this trailer, it'll change my mind around. Like I said, I think the cast sounds great. But that does wrap up everything that was revealed at the Paramount panel. Pretty straightforward and some interesting stuff going on. I'm really just hoping Disney ends off on a bang. So stick around for that video while also telling me what you enjoyed from the Paramount panel. Don't forget to like, subscribe, follow me on Twitter 3C Films or on Tik Tok at 3CLImsilms.
But as always, I'm Chris.
