The BEST Pop Up Composite Box Camper I've EVER SEEN - Bliss Mobil Ram 5500 Truck CamperAdded:
Dude, I got to say I've lived full time out of two different boxes about this size. This is very impressive. This looks way more livable than the ones that I've lived out of.
>> What's up everyone? We're here at Overland Expo West with my friend Reyes.
>> What's up guys? Stoked to see you here and uh in a very unexpected rig. So we do a little walk through. You got this Ram 5500, right? A little bit shorter, a little bit smaller non-cab over. You guys know I love those.
>> So if you know me, Exploring still connected. I have a 550 just like Phil with a big cab over. This is not that.
This is a 5500 Ram. Has the whole AEV package. So AEV front bumper, come up winch, AE lights. Um and we're running the super singles here. So, we're running 41in Continentals. These are fantastic. If you've ever been in a super single, you know most of the suspension is coming from right here, this sidewall, and that's where it's at.
So, 41s or above is my happy space.
>> They have a front rudder rack up top with the uh aloo cab box. That thing is like the black hole of rooftop boxes. We put the kitchen sink in there, the tables, the chairs, tarps, everything you would want, including the muddy gear. I think every rig needs one of those. I have to get one for my personal rig. Dude, they are a really cool looking box. Is cab South Africa, all the the coolest stuff for sure. Um, but yeah, dude. I got these same 41s on the F550. You did the F550 thing before.
>> Definitely an inspiration for the Mobzilla and and the Buck Stop build.
You were on 43s with that thing.
>> I'm still on 43s, dude.
>> That is the way to go if you have the option.
>> Yeah, it's wild. That's big. But this thing, you guys will see. I mean, it's a hard side popup. How cool is that? It's amazing to me that there aren't more of these around because it's pretty cool.
I've taken a peek up in there already.
So, excited to show you guys the inside.
But, yeah, sitting on a little flatbed there. And >> got that spare tire in the middle, right?
>> Yep. Just your typical work flatbed.
This is actually 11 ft flatbed. So, cab to axle 84 in. We do have the spare tire in the backs. And Bliss Mobile manufactures this box. So, they're based out of Netherlands. smallest box they make. It's 8 foot popup camper. The overall height of this is only a few inches taller than this aloo cab box up front. On the way down here, I went through a Starbucks drive-thru. I haven't done that in 4 years.
>> That is pretty incredible. I can't even look at Starbucks drivethrus, let alone think about going.
>> Yeah, I I definitely loved it. So, the box uh it's it's full hard-sided composite foam. It does slide up.
Multiple windows, full pass through for air flow. It's fantastic. Um, it's 2 and 1/2 in or so of actual like wall thickness and insulation. They've had customers take these down to -40° and they live in the habitat just like it's your your home.
>> Dude, that's rad. Yeah, that's about as cool as it gets.
>> Yeah, literally.
>> I don't want to be in 40°.
>> No. No.
>> So, we'll walk around back.
>> Oh, is this carbon?
>> Yes.
>> My goodness.
>> Full carbon. This is kind of a prototype bike carrier still there. So, just your tulle or tool. I don't know how you say it. Bike rack on the back.
I always mess that up. Put on kind of like Elra C channel type of mounting which you have all around the entire camper.
>> And this just flip. Yeah. These look like some hinges. So this will just flip over.
>> Exactly.
>> That's such a cool way. Oh, excuse me.
>> And then it catches back here. So, you know, we'll close the door. Um I always joke about it. You know, like RV doors are kind of the weak link in every system. This is the rattest door in the industry. This door is like a gunbolt.
You open this thing up, you have a nice safe there. There's actually dead bolts that come out top and bottom that are locking it. So, it is a super heavy duty door. And the cool thing about it is it splits.
>> So, when the camper's down, >> you can still get in and out.
>> Still get in and out because this is all going to be closed behind and you just crawl in little doggy access kind of thing. I've been in and out of this all week. Makes it really nice to go in, use the restroom, get a snack, grab an energy drink.
>> Oh, so you can still use the restroom and and can you sit at the table in there? You can't sit in the table when it's done because we'll show you why.
But um you know, let's go and hop in and take a look.
>> Yeah, let's do it. Got the step right here. No need for a fancy ladder system.
You you just got it built in.
>> Super simple. Watch your head. I've hit my head here a couple times. Probably should put a little uh like pool foamy up there just so I don't get a concussion. But uh you'll learn to get used to it.
>> Yeah, for sure. And this side will show real quick. You got the track all around too. So, you can mount anything you want on that track, right?
>> Yeah. Should we get some lights on in here?
>> Yeah, let's do it, brother.
>> Let's go ahead and get the lights. So, we got couch, bed, shower, side lights, everything you would need.
>> Oh, those little accents down below, too.
>> Oh, yeah. Lovely. Like, it it is great at night. And walking in, you're kind of coming through because it's so small, some compromises had to be made. You're walking through the bathroom. So, it is a wet bath. Um, it has a toilet with a black tank, 15 gallons, a merating toilet, so anything that goes down the toilet is getting shredded. Saves space.
Makes it really easy to dump.
>> Yeah. Merating. Is that not That's not an incinerator.
>> Nope. Not incinerator. It's basically just shredding everything that goes down it.
>> Holy cow.
>> Right. So, you get a nice liquid slurry, which we don't need to ex expand on for your viewers cuz I think they get the picture.
>> And then this is a >> But you do you got to talk that you know potty talk, man. You >> potty talk.
>> Wow. Look at this. This just folds.
>> Folds out.
>> Dude, it's so intuitive. I just I knew I knew what >> you're you're exactly right there in the shower. So, >> and you're sided. You don't have any silly like, you know, curtains and things to mess with. Plenty big shower.
>> And then you're standing on actually where the slide slides out for the drain. So, there's a drain that comes right out of this.
>> Oh, no way. Here, I'll move back.
>> Yep. So, we'll just pull this out of the way. Unlock that.
>> Wow. So this is your shower. So this is the drain for your shower. You just lock it into place. And then right here is actually where your shower head is. So probably got to stuff that back in now.
But you know that just hangs up there.
You have indoor or outdoor shower. And just a really clean like you know where the heck did all this space come from?
Kind of like the TARDIS from Doctor Who.
>> There's way more stuff in here than there should be.
>> Dude, I got to say I've lived full time out of two different boxes about this size. This is very impressive. This looks like the most way more livable than the ones that I've lived out of.
And look at that. You got all this space back here for >> I don't know, temporary goodies.
>> Temporary goodies during the day. So like the roof drops down to drop the roof. So does the bed. So right above me is a queen-size bed. It's actually driven by kind of a a warm drive system.
So metal. So we're not doing straps to raise or lower. It's a very solid system.
>> Yeah.
>> And it will drop down basically just above counter height. This counter will also drop down so you can sleep one, you can sleep two up top. And then again, you saw all the storage you had up top.
They're using bamboo wood throughout.
Antimicrobial, super light. I'm a big gorilla when it comes to like RV living, so I wear pocket knives and like I'm always hitting the counters. It mars up like the traditionally painted counters.
Bamboo hides all that so well. Like that's all I'm ever going to run in all my future builds. Bamboo wood.
>> Cool, dude.
>> Super nice locking cabinets.
>> Look at that. It's like making use of all the space, still keeping it flush cuz you got that sink right there.
>> Exactly.
>> Oh, dude. Just really, really beautiful engineering everywhere you look.
>> Yep. Electronic countertops. So, this unit has 660 amp hour of uh 12vt battery. All their other units do 24 volt cuz it's way more efficient. But on this one, you know, they were kind of experimenting on how can we keep the cost low? How can we get people invest at affordable cost? So, they went 12vt on it. You have 860 ws of solar up top that powers everything. And what you're standing on, we've been using it all weekend. In floor radiant heating, >> I knew you were going to say that.
>> Bougie. I love it. Um, it's got a diesel heater, too, but we haven't even had to use it. You can just set the temperature. I think we set it at like 18° C. And, uh, it's been keeping us warm all night down here in, uh, Flagstaff, where it got down to what, like high 40s last night, didn't it?
>> Yeah. I didn't I don't even have the heater hooked up in in my uh Bison composite camper, but that if I did have that floor, that's a really cool I've never heard anybody say that about radiant floor heating is that you don't at certain temps you're not even running the main heater.
>> No, you don't need to. And heat raises, man. So, it's nothing better than one, waking up in the morning, you have warm feet. I think we all can relate to that.
Then two, you know, the heat just raises.
>> Kept me, my wife, and our three and a half month old baby warm all night long.
Congrats on being a new dad, too. That's so awesome. And not letting it slow you down travel wise.
>> Still traveling. Still traveling.
>> Uh windows. So, it has two windows on this side, screens, and blackout curtains, which is great. And these are huge full swing out windows. Very robust. Uh good locking hinge. And honestly, I just love the air flow you get from this. You know, we have good crosswind going from both sides.
>> Um we don't have the AC running. It's what probably mid70s out here. And it feels really good sitting in this spot.
Yeah, it does.
>> So, uh I think we mentioned the dinette already. Good place to work >> with a carbon fiber pool. Dude, >> they're keeping the weight low.
>> Did we mention it only weighs 2,000 lb?
>> Wow.
>> 2,000 lb drive.
>> You did not with all these systems.
>> Yeah.
>> And there's everything you need.
>> Everything. So, and speaking of systems point there. So, we have mechanical hard switches. I love switches. Yes, that's where batteries, inverters, moving the bed, water, appliances.
>> All those are also managed by an application. We have a iPad basically essentially over here, a little tablet where we can manage all the systems and then a phone app that we could basically be in the cab and when as soon as we're parked at camp, I could turn on the inverter, I could have the water heater warming up. So, as soon as we get out and I could press a button to raise the camper, I could hop in and take a warm shower all before I even got into the camper. It's all ready to go. best of all the worlds. We've uh seen a couple campers here at the show with the fancy pads and everything and I love that. But >> the quickness of these switches and and they will not I mean they will always switch.
>> Yeah. So, and then but then also having the the connectivity to your phone.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Um there are a few plugs in here and it's one of the weird things I had to get used to. European plugs. So, these are made and manufactured in the Netherlands. So you'll see down here we do have the big European plugs. Um so they come with adapters. Um but just know that's one of those things that reminds you this wasn't made in the US.
It was made in the Netherlands. Um and it's really a product that we've been extremely impressed with the durability.
We were out willing this in Moab took it out to behind the rocks. And because it's hard mounted on that flatbed, it doesn't move. It doesn't shift. It doesn't shake. Like we're willing and mobbing out there like really fast. It's like in in my truck camper 45minut drive in this 15 minutes just flying >> dude. So cool to hear. Oh, I got to wipe you guys off a little bit. Sorry about that.
>> Yeah.
>> Uh but dude, that's that's really cool to hear. I mean, ultimately that's what it's all about, right? Being able to get out there but quick enough to where you want to keep going. Ooh, maybe it gets better. Maybe let's get by that river and whatever, you know?
>> Well, the way I look at it is like I want to build it. I want a build that'll get me further than the last guy I pass, you know? I want to get out there further and farther and have my own little piece of paradise. And this thing definitely gets out there.
>> Absolutely, man. Yeah. That's why we built the Gladiator was like just have it be fun to drive, but you know, you're you're always making sacrifices one way or the other. And I think a lot of people, you've probably heard this at the show, might say, uh, you know, this is a little small. No, no, this is amazing.
>> This is everything you would need. I would love to live fulltime out of this with my wife. compared to the old Gladiator. Like, it's very similar size.
>> It's very similar size and it's a million times more livable.
>> Like, I like the Gladiator build, but it wasn't It was sick. It was fun. It was great. And there's there's nothing wrong with that, but like >> you can really feel and see the R&D, the time and thought. Like, this wasn't just a couple people building this in in the front yard in Prescuit, Arizona.
>> Yeah. And I mean, honestly, you think this is impressive? Check out their bigger builds. They're 15t. They have a 23T that sleeps eight. like insane. Go check those out online. Like huge kudos to the Bliss Mobile team cuz they're innovating. They're building things that last. And these rigs are all around the world. They're not just here in the US.
They ship them globally. So like they're being field tested in like Africa.
They're being field tested in like the Arctic, like all over the world. And like to me, I don't know. That's kind of rad to your builds there.
>> More. Yeah. What more could you want as far as testing goes? And like the carbon everywhere is so cool. This is beautiful. the lighting on the carbon around this bed frame like oh that is cool and this drop down bed like you said is wormgear driven um that's great I mean wormgeears are super reliable the Fusso had uh wormgeear driven slides and people like would talk a lot about oh slides on an off-road camper it's like no they've literally those ones never had any issues >> yeah if you build it right it's going to work you know don't cut corners and I you know they don't cut corners here >> no no you can No, we'll give you a little view looking out the back there.
>> Yeah, this is awesome.
>> Let me get out there for size. Oh, yeah.
Little steps. People ask how you get upstairs.
>> When when the bed is down, like you got a couple steps right here. You just walk right up. Uh quite convenient.
>> Yeah.
>> And uh >> Wow, those are so, >> you know, super quiet drives. So, like I'll let you listen. Can we get some audio up there?
>> It's coming down. The bed is coming down. Down.
Bed is coming down. Going down down down, >> dude. Super quiet. Like I have to stop talking to even hear it.
>> Yeah. And that's pretty much it. So I mean >> Oh yeah, let's get a peek up. Get a peek up there. Yeah, just so you guys can see there is a bed down there or up there.
Now it's coming down there.
>> It's coming down.
>> And then a hatch. Hey.
>> Yep.
>> Roof hatch.
>> Love that roof hatch.
>> Perfect. So we'll put that back up. Get our head space.
>> Yeah. Yeah, >> but a super quiet system just works.
>> Wow.
>> Wow. This is cool. There's nothing quite like this that I've seen. And uh >> yeah, they do have a 11 ft popup. So, they only do the popup in the 8t and the 11t. Everything's like hardsided high all the way up. 11t is insane cuz you get a full queensiz dinette right here.
Um dedicated bath side entry. Like that might be the sweet spot for me. We're looking for our next build.
>> Yeah, for sure. This is, like you said, the smallest box they make, I think.
Right.
>> Well, thanks for showing us, man.
>> Yeah, brother of this truck. Big old beast. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
>> Big old beast on 41in Super Singles.
>> Got to love it.
>> So, uh, yeah, check out Bliss Mobile.
Make sure you're following Reus and Exploring Still Connected on Instagram there. And, uh, we'll go and see what other campers we can see. Make sure you subscribe, of course, to Down to Mob Overland. Comment what you think of this beast. We know this guy's down to mob, huh?
>> Yeah, buddy.
>> Only question is, are you down to mob?
