We talked about it yesterday. the important role that they played in the Gulligichi community were able to really um um preserve the rich African culture that enriched this country uh and was the reason for why the uh West African people from especially the rice coasts were targeted for trafficking, for enslavement, for the barbarity and the extraction of not only physical labor but ingenuity and the 3,000 years of rice cultivation knowledge that they had. Love the Gulligi community. Can't wait to go to South Carolina. I am aware of what's happening down in in South Carolina with the land grabs that are going on. And I would love to know more about that. I need to read up on it some more. I've been reading up on it, but there's always more for me to know. Uh because I think maybe that might be worth a video when we talk about imminent domain [clears throat] and how disenfranchised our black brothers and sisters are at the hands of people who don't care. It's so funny you're talking about debt because much of the show today is going to be dedicated to talking about uh what is owed monetarily. Not just uh not just uh lip service, but what is owed to um uh those of us who were trafficked away from the continent and whose expertise and whose labor and whose bodies were used to build the wealth of the western world.

[00:12:49]And that is exactly what happened. There is no powerful um affluent United States of America without the labor of African people. And it wasn't just the labor, it was the ingenuity, it was the knowledge, it was the skill that African uh laborers and African people brought with them. and they were forced to um share that information to give that information to the white enslavers who uh took advantage of the skills that they had honed for thousands of years on the continent of Africa and enriched themselves with the knowledge that they stole from African people. I want to talk about that today especially in light of Pope Leo giving us an apology but absolutely nothing more than words.

Yes, as did many of these top tech um CEOs. I read that none of those CEOs actually met with um the president uh Xi Jinping in China. They met with lower level uh government officials. Um and then right after that whole suare with the United States and China, the Chinese welcomed the Russian um President Vladimir Putin and his um his administration right after that. [00:14:37]17 trillion is nothing. And that is important to add. You have to add interest and inflation to those numbers.

[00:14:45]Right? Let's get into the show today because we have a lot of stuff. And I'm so happy that we're talking about restitution and um and uh what is worth, what our suffering has been worth. There are no numbers that can really identify and really illustrate the amount of money and and um labor that was extracted. But we need to start somewhere. So yesterday, Pope Leo the 14th issued a historic apology um uh during his um magnifica humanitus his magnificent humanity speech. In his words, he said, and this is a quote, that it's impossible not to feel deep sorrow when contemplating the immense suffering and humiliation endured by so many.

[00:15:39]Wow. It's very interesting uh when he says endured by so many. Not by so many. We want to this is what he says. So for this in the name of the church, I sincerely ask for pardon. So, he's not specifically calling out the African the transatlantic slave trade and what happened when the Catholic Church gave the okay for foreign nations to perpetually enslave, to enrich themselves, to steal um and to act in such a barbaric way against the human, the black body for centuries.

[00:16:15]>> [snorts] >> He admitted that neither can we deny or diminish the delay with which both society and the church came to denounce the scourge of slavery.

[00:16:27]He called it a wound in Christian memory.

[00:16:31]Very interesting words. Uh let's remember that these are only words.

[00:16:38]All right. Let's also remember what has not happened because Pope John Paul II also apologized and that was over 100 years ago. And what followed those words were no reparations, no land returned, and no financial accountability. So now we have one more time words with nothing else after it. Understand that the uh and we talked about this when I was talking about the doctrine of discovery.

[00:17:06]understand that the Catholic Church received monies every time European powers went to these African countries and enslaved they they received a portion of that and also understand the role that the Catholic Church played actively the role that the Catholic Church played actively in maintaining enslavement before the genocidal regimes Europe's genocidal regimes would go to these African countries.

[00:17:39]Um they were uh before those genocidal regimes went to the African countries, the Catholic Church sent their missionaries to these African countries.

[00:17:51]And so they did the the soft work of making it easier to not only colonize the body but to colonize the mind by demonizing the spiritual practices in African uh and in these African countries and with ethnic groups to demonize uh the cultural practices. So, you know, first you shame a person for who they are and and then after that, right behind the Catholic Church missionaries came the strong armed genocidal part of European um machine that came into the country to enslave.

[00:18:53]Thank you for the $49.99 is going to be put to use to continue to do this work." So, I just want to talk about that because I feel like sometimes as AfricanAmericans and as African people in the diaspora, we get so excited about words, but we can't be excited about words.

[00:19:12]Even the Bible says words without deeds.

[00:19:15]What is that? It's manipulation.

[00:19:18]All right. So, um let's talk about what the uh church actually did. Um, Pope Leo I 13th was the first pope pop pope to explicitly condemn slavery in 1888, long after most countries had already abolished it. That says so much. Slavery had be been abolished in 1865 in the United States and it had been abolished even before that in the UK. Of course, not because they had some kind of a come to Jesus moment. It became very difficult for them to maintain um slavery. Slavery is very um expensive to maintain to be able to subjugate people um and continue to extract labor for them and be as barbaric of course as uh colonizers were. The church authorized slavery. The church renewed slavery. The church blessed slavery. And then they waited until slavery was over before they ever condemned it.

[00:20:20]Very important to understand that. What role did missionaries play in uh the enslavement of African people?

[00:20:29]Missionaries entered African communities before the genocidal uh soldiers did.

[00:20:36]And what were they doing there? They were learning the languages. They were mapping land. They were dismantling the spiritual frameworks that gave African people their identity and their resistance.

[00:20:48]African spiritual systems were labeled demonic. African names were stripped.

[00:20:52]Those names were replaced with European names. We still see that today. African children were taking taken into mission schools and then they were returned unable to speak their own languages.

[00:21:04]We've seen that across all colonized and uh settler colonial spaces.

[00:21:10]Uh they did the same thing to the Aboriginal children in Australia. They did the same thing to Native American children here in the United States. They did the same thing to Native American children in Canada where they stripped these children away from their parents, put them in these homes where many of them were sexually abused, physically abused, murdered. We're still pulling up graves behind these so-called schools.

[00:21:34]Here in the United States, they had a saying where they said, "You should kill the Indian and save the man." This is how deep and how sick um this idea uh of uh colonialism went in their minds. They they were made to be they became moral monsters and physical monsters. The things that nightmares are made of. [snorts] Um that was the role of missionaries. So they worked hand in hand with the genocidal soldiers that also came from Europe who then went ahead and committed genocide and just killed millions and millions of people over hundreds and hundreds of years. The behavior didn't change, didn't get better. Every generation did the picked up the mantle that the generation before them had started. The doctrine of discovery 571 years old. Remember I came out with a video. When do you think the doctrine of discovery was finally rescended?

[00:22:30]2023.

[00:22:33]It was something that the the Catholic Church had signed and they had blessed for 571 years. This was a doctrine that basically said it was articulated in 1452 and it declared that Christian nations had the right to seize non-Christian lands. And they used that doctrine for more than 500 years, close to 600 years, to justify taking indigenous and African people's land and resources. It also gave them the right to put African people into perpetual slavery, which is different from other forms of slavery. So people say everybody had slaves. Not everybody believed in child slavery. This is a very unique thing to European culture.

[00:23:18]And this is what they did. perpetual slavery, which said that if your mother was a slave, then you were a slave.

[00:23:26]So again, you had what happened was you have white men who were consistently raping black women. And since these women were giving birth to these children, those children continued in slavery and these white men were enslaving their own children. Jacob says, "Blessings to you, Chris." Oh, understand that that this was just something that was said to be wrong in 2023. Three short years ago, three short years ago, the doctrine of discovery, the Vatican, the church owned the Catholic Church. So, let's go back.

[00:24:10]At least 12 and a half million enslaved Africans were transported to the Americas to enrich European and Catholic coffers.

[00:24:19]So it's not like the Catholic Church wasn't getting something out of it. They would not have given the okay for it if they they didn't have something to gain.

[00:24:27]So every time the Portuguese or the Spanish or the British uh went into these African countries and pillaged and raped and stole, they were paying money to the church. They were paying tithes to the church. And so everyone was benefiting from it. This is a this was a that's why we say racism is a team sport. Everybody had a role to play. In 1838, the Jesuits sold 272 people, enslaved people to save Georgetown University. Georgetown University is uh one of the well-known universities here in the United States. That institution today is worth billions of dollars. And the descendants of the 272 African people who had been trafficked, who had survived the middle passage, who had been treated like a piece of cattle, have received absolutely nothing. And these are so-called men of of faith who founded this university. That tells you everything that you need to know. The Bible says that you will know them by the fruit that they bear.

[00:25:34]The church owned enslaved people directly.

[00:25:38]For those of you who did not know that the church owned enslaved people directly.

[00:25:45]The church ran plantations. The church received financial benefits from enslaved labor for more than 400 years.

[00:25:55]This is what the this is the what the church did. They're not implicated, you know, half-heartedly. They are directly implicated.

[00:26:03]What do you need to do to someone in order to enslave them? You have to be willing to be barbaric with him. We will one day we'll talk about some of the ways that they maintained order in these work camps. It was absolutely sick, barbaric, and disgusting. And they managed to maintain those sick, barbaric, and disgusting methods for centuries, for hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of years. The Vatican today is worth hundreds of billions of dollars to over a trillion. It's really hard to be able to understand how much they're worth, but they they're worth in into the trillions at least.

[00:26:46]They're saying hundreds of billions to over a trillion.

[00:26:51]That money was accumulated during the same centuries that it was blessing the enslavement of African people. The money that the Vatican has, that the Catholic Church has, is directly tied to the barbarity that they blessed, the enslavement of African people that they lorded over, that they took part in, the missionaries that they used to go and weaken the social chains um in Africa. Um the extraction, the child enslavement, the rape, all of those things. So what's the bottom line?

[00:27:27]There's no plan to return the land because at the end of the day, the Catholic Church okayed enslavement because they knew that they would enrich themselves.

[00:27:37]It was all about the money. So when you're talking about people whose gods are is money, their god is not god in heaven. That's just a tool that they've been able to use in order to come into people's land and take land from them.

[00:27:53]Their god is money. So when you offer me your empty words and you're not interested in now returning all of the illgotten land and resources, then your words also become another form of manipulation.

[00:28:10]They have no plan to return the land that they've stolen. There's no reparation package. There is no financial accounting. The Church of England did commit $1 billion, which is um a drop in the bucket.

[00:28:27]The Vatican hasn't done anything comparable.

[00:28:31]An apology doesn't cost anything.

[00:28:35]So, what he pretty much gave the world was a well-worded press release.

[00:28:41]Uh you know, someone says, "Don't spit in my face and tell me it's raining."

[00:28:45]That is what he did to the African uh diaspora and for those of us on the continent and for those people who are on the continent. He spit in our face and said that it was raining.

[00:29:02]All right. So I and I want to be careful. I don't want to use the wrong words, but it's very important. The sexual exploitation of that's what I'll say instead of the other word. The sexual exploitation of black bodies was something that uh the Catholic Church was just fine with lording over and in and enriching themselves.

[00:29:22]Very important. Africans need science and tech. They also need to readjust their self-concepts, says Larry Wilson.

[00:29:29]I agree. We all need that. Um lost in trance. In a trance, I think where the Roman Empire collapsed, it became the Vatican. When the British Empire collapsed, it became the Bank of England. Science and math come from Africa, says Wolf Papsian Papison. Um, Larry Wilson says, "Since the masses are not a threat, the elite will steal whatever they want and destroy nations.

[00:29:57]Never surprised when it comes to churches and schools and governments," says Mr. Crawford. Larry Wilson says, "Science and tech are universal."

Just because someone has taken the Bible and used it to try to um justify their greed does not mean that the Bible is not something that uh is is you know that the that the that the religion itself is is a problematic.

[00:31:44]Um, people have basically turned Europeans into a supernatural demonic entity versus what people really are, says Larry Wilson. I don't support colonialism, but it is not about race, says Larry Wilson. Of course, it's about race. And that's not something that I made up. Europeans created the idea of race. You should read a book called The History of White People. It's a pretty short book because the idea of white people is a fairly recent concept that was created by what we now call white people, Europeans. Humans care about it.

[00:46:47]um because I think that it's very important for us to talk about um the role that African people played in building the west and we don't talk about it enough. we can't afford is explain for us to be have this talked about in schools but the first African people came to the north I think when we think about enslavement we think about the south but the first African people uh were brought to the north traffic to the north uh and I would say the north northern states in the United States 11 enslaved Africans arrived in New Amsterdam which is known as New York City today in 1626 the first slave auction in New York was held in 1955. By 1703, more than 42% of New York City households enslaved African people. By 1703, more than 42% of New York City households enslaved African people. So, the North didn't inherit slavery from the South. The North built slavery first. Very important for us to understand that because I think that the South gets this track record of being this place where all of these terrible people were. No, the entire system was rotten to the core and the North was leading the charge.

[00:48:04]The first enslaved Africans of New Amsterdam built the Wall Street that got its name. 11 captives from none other than the Congo and Angola and South cleared the forest, built the roads, and laid the foundation of what became the financial capital of the world.

[00:48:21]74 Wall Street is the accepted address of the slave auction block where enslaved people were bought and sold under the shadow of their prison ships.

[00:48:31]Wall Street firms profited from the slave trade long after slavery in New York was illegal and there's a small plaque there today.

[00:48:51]We don't talk enough about the north. We have to talk about the north first. The banking industry in New York City uh rose largely to provide mortgages, insurance, and financing for the slave trade. Yes, the black body was insured.

[00:49:04]Those southerners and northerners who were maintaining people in their homes and holding people captive, they wanted to ensure those black people. and the banking industry provided for those insurance policies.

[00:49:18]Black people were mortgaged as down payments for other business ventures to secure loans to finance. The ship builders who sent voyages to Africa to bring enslaved people were northern ship builders.

[00:49:34]The rum industry, the currency of the slave trade, was processed and sold in northern United States. New York became the third major city in the western world and its glory was built on cotton which was financed, packaged and shipped by northern merchants and banks. The New York Stock Exchange owes its start of capital to an economy that was in fuel uh fueled by enslaved people.

[00:50:00]So we talk a lot about the north, but there is we talk about a lot about the south, but the the the north was the engine for much of this.

[00:50:11]South Carolina built on African nice rice knowledge and was the wealthiest colony in British North America. By 1775, more land was moved to build South Carolina's rice field and was moved to build the pyramids at Giza. black enslaved black people who were forced into bondage in these United States of America cleared this land and this was swampy land in South Carolina filled with mosquitoes, alligators, and all kinds of different bugs and animals many times with their bare feet. They didn't have shoes in their bare feet. By 1860, enslaved people represented 70% of South Carolina's personal property wealth. 70%.

[00:50:58]It was a national enterprise. The North financed it, the South produced it, and African people paid for all of it with their lives.

[00:51:10]In 1865, uh, African-Americans were promised 40 acres in a mu in a mule, enslaved people got absolutely nothing.

[00:51:22]So it's very important for us to understand the scope of enslavement. We don't understand it. We've been lied to and told, well, if you just work hard, then you can do this and that. The people who have enriched themselves, the old money people, they didn't work hard.

[00:51:39]They worked other people hard. They were incredibly inhumane.

[00:51:44]This is their their legacy.

[00:54:33]Um, Congresswoman Summer Lee Trump says that Trump can create a $ 1.7 billion fund to reward January 6 insurrectionists with your tax dollars, but Congress won't pass a referendum to even study reparations because they're not interested in paying reparations. Very, very important. One activist noticed, "If we had an executive branch that actually believed in black humanity, it shows that almost two billion can be transferred within a week.

I'll let you guys know which one it's going to be. It's literally going to be just bring a blanket, bring a Frisbee, bring a cooler or with a refreshing, you know, healthy drink and let's talk and just vibe, listen to some music and just, you know, be out there. So, I'll let you guys know we're in Chicago. I'll be I really am excited about um about us getting together. Um, I would be lying if I didn't want to see the European punished and dethroned from their current position of dominance in the world. I think that many people agree with that sentiment. Um, I totally understand why what African people in the diaspora and and on the continent have suffered as a result of um, enslavement and colonialism, child slavery is something that is really unimaginable and it's continuing. It continues now. Um, we're here to talk about how to move forward. How can we encourage one another? We don't have to agree on everything, but we can agree on the fact that we want to see one another do well.

[01:10:25]And we want to forge a new path forward that will allow us to live in the kind of world that I believe God wants us to live in, which is a world where we have dignity and respect, where we live um in peace with one another, and that we are able to enjoy all of the amazing resources that God has placed under our feet. So um that's why we're here, which is why I think it's very important for us to um learn from each other and for us to respect one another. You know, we don't have to get along. We not going to see eye to eye on everything, but we should respect one another, right? Um, let's see. Europeans built their cities with other people's bricks. You are right about that. It's a wonderful thing to say and it's true. We live in a global world. So, regardless if people like each other or not, working together is necessary. That's true, Larry. Um, there are impostors that steal all civilization of black people, Islam and Judaism and Christianity. um all those prophets are black.

[01:11:24]Um the Christian God is just a money-making tool for the elite. Um I think that we have to separate out Christianity from um white superiority and imperialism and how those people use though Christianity as a tool um as a tool for them to enrich themselves. Um and I believe that God will judge harshly for that. So, idiot proof 523.
