Disney's Aladdin uses a deliberate color theory system where blue represents good (Genie), yellow represents neutral (Sultan), and red represents evil (Jafar), with Aladdin wearing all colors at different points to symbolize his moral transformation. The film underwent extensive development with multiple drafts, including cut songs like 'Call Me a Princess' and character changes like replacing a tomboy princess with Abu and the carpet, demonstrating how animated films evolve through creative iteration.

>> We're going to start playing the movie.
>> Yeah, please.
>> Yeah, we need to be quiet.
>> Oh my god.
John Musker, Ron Clemens, man, they were cookie in the '90s.
>> Oh yeah, I know. And what's funny is like I >> kind of find Aladdin and Jasmine boring, but holy [ __ ] do I love this movie.
>> Jafar and Genie are like ab I think Aladdin's perfectly fine. Jasmine's kind of plain, but Jafar and Jeanie carry this [ __ ] >> I'm going to say absolutely I'm going to say I like Aladdin. Um, but yeah, Jasmine I can see being a bland.
>> So, is that the genie by the way? Do you all believe that?
>> Uh, hey, guess what it was? I have a I have a deleted scene >> at the ready.
>> What? What? What's the deleted scene?
>> Hold on. It's It's at the very end of the movie. Um, here.
>> Is going to kill us.
>> God. See, see, look. Look. This This is what you get for inviting me. like this is what's going to happen for certain films. Um here here we are like yeah >> the this was the end of the film. This was the original end of the film.
>> Oh that's cute.
God poor one out for Robin.
>> What the [ __ ] was that scene where he's like a >> Oh my god. You're right. It's his voice.
Jesus, >> you guys are making fun of me for being scared of this at the right time.
>> No, it's scared of me. This is me as a kid whenever my mom was like, you know, about to snap, whatever. Like things are a little bit too quiet in the house.
>> Staver, what are you doing?
>> Am I even [ __ ] That's how I thought.
>> Jafar and Iago had reverse personalities. Surprise.
>> Really?
>> Yes. Originally, Jafar was going to be like the the mad kind of like throwing a tamper tantrum, and Yagago was supposed to be like kind of stuffy British and kind of like the cool head of the two and be like, "Hey, master, let's let's calm down a bit on this."
>> I'm glad they didn't go with that. This is much better dynamic.
>> Uh, get your dancing emotion.
>> God, this song is so [ __ ] catchy, though.
>> First banger.
>> Every single song in this movie is such a delight.
>> This movie made me love bread. You think that was easy?
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Dude, I know.
He's just fighting for it so hard.
>> No, dude. Dude, you have to understand that like when I was a kid, me and my little sister would like whenever we go like Subway, we'd save like a part of the bread of the sandwich and we go, "Now, a boo, we feast and we rip the bread in half and give each other a piece." So, >> were were you a boo? Were you do you did you do the spiteful munch that he does?
>> Yeah.
I need to follow me. You eating it in front of an orphan child?
>> No, that's Reishi eating her leftovers in front of me.
>> Yeah. Yeah.
>> Yeah. Get that Saber eating that that bread in front of the or orphan child in the subway.
>> Dirty filthy orphan.
>> Filthy orphans of Georgia.
>> It's me looking at my mods.
>> Y [ __ ] [ __ ] him. He's just like he just he eats the bits in front of us.
It's like, "Oh, we do the hard work and he's getting all the money." They're my subs. My gifted subs.
>> Uh do you guys know about the color theory about this film?
>> Uh tell us.
>> No, I do not.
>> Uh no. So um they use three specific colors to dictate specific um morality.
So they did blue for uh good, >> yellow for neutral, and red for evil.
>> That checks out with like Jafar with red, blue for genie, yellow, yellow for neutral. Okay.
>> Yeah. the Sultan here cuz you see he's mostly in yellow but he has shapes of blue in him.
>> What about Aladdin? Does Aladdin have >> No. So Aladdin wears all the colors at different points. Um >> because like I believe cuz his like main color is like purple. Um but then when he turns into a prince, his outfit is like a yellowish white.
>> Interesting.
>> And then like I believe his outfit at the end is like a blue color if I remember correctly.
>> Order of the princess.
>> I would princess accept my orders. come from Jafar.
>> And Jafar is paying for my rent. So I >> Yeah.
Look, look, I'mma be real with you.
Jafar, he he's paying for my kid's college. Like >> idiot. He's putting my kid through college.
>> Princess.
>> And look, like I know you're the princess, but like he's the the royal vaseier.
>> The guards just >> You sound like uh >> On your the girlfriend character from Venture Brothers a bit.
>> OH. OH YEAH, YOU DO. YOU DO. ARE YOU selling girlfriends?
>> What is it later? It's uh Of course.
>> Dr. Mrs. Monarch.
>> Hi, I'm Dr. Mrs. the Monarch.
>> YEAH, YOU really do.
>> Dear, >> I love I love the carpet as a character though.
>> Yeah, I know. It's It works as a like such a nice like silent character to like cuz it contrasts with Genie who can talk and is boisterous and Abu who can only speak gibberish cuz he's a monkey.
>> Well, kind of reminds me of like um some of the uh Oh gosh. Inanimate objects from Beauty and the Beast reminds me of the brooms from Fantasia.
>> Yeah. Yeah. The little like uh the little like ottoman or foot stool, whatever it was.
>> Right. Right. The little Ottoman dog.
>> Oh, wait.
Uh uh wait uh go back a little bit. This is where like uh Abu says Oh [ __ ] >> Where what?
>> Right. Yeah. Go go go back a little bit.
Uh yeah. Listen listen closely cuz it's a it's the shot before like all the rocks start disappearing.
>> I told you it's so funny.
I remember I was like, "Do I like girls after this?"
>> Yeah. Was that was that nice having your heterosexual awakening there, buddy?
>> That was my heterosexual awakening with with these characters.
>> Okay. I have >> Everybody clap >> every clap for Saberosexual.
>> I'm very And I'm very brave for saying that, right?
>> I have.
>> Yes, you are.
>> My look at Genie. He's just like a genie penis.
>> Wait, I screen capped this. We need to like save this for later use.
>> You will order the princess to marry me.
>> I have ordered the princess.
But you're so old.
>> The princess will perfect joke. I love that joke.
>> It's one of my favorite jokes. Oh. Oh, another certified banger. You came back right at the good time actor.
>> Oh my god. I was so worried cuz I also >> All right, chat. Get those dancing emotes. We're getting another banger.
>> One, you should be free to make your own choice.
I'll go.
>> I'm going to kill myself now.
>> What?
>> I'm going to kill myself.
>> How are you doing that? See, he just had to show her her car or his car.
>> Yeah. Yeah.
He's just like, "Hey, babe. You want a ride?
>> You want to You want to ride? Sweet."
>> Not to throw you off, but seeing get stepped on makes me so sad. Like I It's so depressing.
>> Make me super sultan.
>> Isn't that that Dragon Ball thing?
>> Yeah, Dragon Ball Super Sultan.
Take take the Sultan's clothes off. I want to see him naked.
>> I mean I mean I want to be the Sultan.
It's my first wish.
>> Sultan in his underwear.
>> Sultan's like, "Hey, can I get that lamp?" I need to start fans and a wish is really easy to do it.
>> Really need this.
>> I need the money.
>> My second wish is give my bird a small little Sultan hat.
>> God, genie.
>> Yeah. Oh, people forget genie is terrifying when he is in the hands of someone evil.
>> I I love the implication of just like you change like he changes shape depending on who his master is.
>> The aggra here real fast.
>> It doesn't matter what.
>> God, I feel so bad for cheating. Get him out of there.
>> I know. It's a It's like you're seeing your friend in abusive relationship.
You're like, "Get out of there.
You're welcome. It >> be funny if nothing happened. He's like, Judy, it doesn't change. And it's like sorcerers aren't real, idiot.
>> Yeah. It's just like like magic's not real. Are you stupid?
>> Right. Sorcerers.
>> No, wizards exist, but sorcerers don't.
So you got to >> Yeah, it's like are you an idiot?
>> Look at him.
>> Damn, Jasmine.
>> I forgot Javar's like my third wish. The skimpiest odd commission of Jasmine.
I want to I want to objectify this teenager >> such as yourself should be on the powerful man.
>> I know.
>> Yeah. I hate >> Jafar the original Discord.
>> I don't think I should say the original Discord mod. We >> the original Discord mod. I'm saying that for my Discord mod.
We got we got to we got to redo the scene from Toy Story where they where they toss Woody over the truck.
>> Yeah. Toss him overboard.
Now you got something to say.
>> You got something to [ __ ] say to us there. Saber, >> what are you going to do? Saber, >> you going to ban me next?
>> Dave, help me here.
>> Ban us.
>> The genie has more power than you'll ever have.
>> He gave you your power. He could take it away.
>> Al, what are you doing? Why are you bringing me into this?
>> And someone tagged you in a thread, >> dude. I know.
>> I hate that [ __ ] His power does exist.
>> Just say the word and you're a prince again.
>> But genie, what about this is a good movie.
>> I know. I love how this is when we stop talking towards the end of the movie.
>> Well, it's the emotional impact, you know, >> right? It's so genuine that you're just like, >> "Believe me, I know. Oh, I can't talk over this."
>> And a million knockoffs were made.
>> Oh, yep.
And a very specific piece of artwork on the internet. Yep.
>> We're not going to tell you, chat. We're >> not going to tell you.
>> Oh my god. It's such a good movie.
>> Wonderful. Wonderful era for Disney.
Truly.
>> Yeah. Cuz so so basically um yeah just to just to kind of talk about um the movie itself because this this is what leads into the songs because yeah there there was several drafts for this film and Alan Menkin and Howard Ashman they they made the original thing and they made songs for the entire original draft. So there was like a ton and they got most of it got cut because the plot changed and all that. Um but they actually a lot of them were reinstated in the Broadway show. Um like Aladdin was supposed to have a gang of friends called Bad Cack Omar. Um uh Cassim. Um they got replaced with Abu um and the the carpet. Uh there was a there was a song cuz in the one of the original drafts there Jasmine uh was more of a [ __ ] princess and like there was supposed to be like a tomboy uh that was part of the gang that liked Aladdin.
Um, and like he was a bumbling idiot about it. Uh, and didn't understand. Uh, and yeah, so she had a song called Call Me a Princess where she basically was like, I'm I'm a bratty princess and I'm singing a song. Um, >> and yeah, and >> I'm kind of glad that one was cut. That That doesn't sound great.
>> Um, but yeah. No. Um, so when you play the video proper, this talks about one song which survived from the beginning until the very last draft in which it was changed into the final production.
Uh, and this was like one of the hardest uh, ones that they killed. Um, it goes through all the songs here, but this one is probably like the most famous of them. So you you could start playing it Saber Island.
like yeah like this is a great song and I I do wish it was final but I understand why THEY DO NOT HOLD your >> I didn't realize how jam-packed Aladdin like how jam-packed full of music Aladdin originally was like there is so much music that just never saw anything oh yeah no I could share more but it's just too much there's just >> original concept of doing an Aladdin >> which is what's crazy >> yeah I think it's um We probably need to start wrapping up here, >> right?
>> Oh my gosh. We We'll see on the screen here. I went to the saber desk and it made your character's head look massive.
>> But uh No. Any any final thoughts or words you all want to share about the movie?
>> Uh no. I just uh I love Aladdin. I It isn't my top top Disney movie, but it's definitely like up there even if just for the music and Genie. Um, I will always love it. Flaws and all. I I think it is such a delight and I hope kids continue to enjoy it because man, growing up with Aladdin was a treat.
>> Yeah. Uh, yeah. Because I could save my write up. Uh, so I love Aladdin. It's uh not in my top five, but definitely in my top 10. It's it's just fun, energetic.
It's it has a unique energy to it that's not really matched by a lot of other Disney films and they they clearly tried um you know like with Hercules and stuff like that where it's like you know it's still fun but you know it doesn't hit quite the same marks and and yeah and it has just has such a deep and fascinating history to it that it's like you know uh I definitely recommend um anyone in the chat uh you know and you guys is like look look into it. There's tons of videos on YouTube that have talked about it. Then there's tons of sources and documents out there. It is a is a fascinating history. Um, and if you are into learning about a film's production, this is a good one to look into. It is there's so much like I I couldn't even touch upon like everything about it because it's just it's just too much.
Like it's it's really one of the most documented films out there uh from the Disney library.
>> I agree. It's >> Yeah, absolutely.
>> It's fun. I I still think Beauty and the Beast and Little Mermaid are better, but like Well, I don't know. Actually, I think I like Aladdin a bit more than um than Little Mermaid, but it's close.
Robin Williams is definitely what elevates it, though.
>> Um >> yeah, >> probably the smartest choice they made for that this movie. It's and it's such a shame that unfortunately his desire to be part of this legacy led Hollywood to learn the wrong lessons.
>> Yeah. Unfortunately, >> um because it's so weird because this wasn't even the first time like Disney ever had a celebrity for a voice actor, but they just they were just so gung-ho about it. They they realized that point where it's like, "Oh [ __ ] we can people want to see it because certain, you know, celebrities are voicing these characters." So, you know, >> right? It's like, >> and never forget that that Disney screwed over Robin Williams. That's the crazy thing.
>> Oh, yes. Um, I didn't use that poster, but like uh one of the most famous posters for Aladdin is it's the one where genie's above everybody um and you kind of have the city of Acroba and all the characters. And the stipulation was that he would not take up more than like 25% of like any given advertising.
>> Y >> and he technically is, but he's also the biggest character on that [ __ ] poster.
>> That's right.
>> Yeah, it's okay. Shadow Hun saying, "Thanks for a great stream. Lovely seeing you all here and having a great time." And already said this before, but a huge applause to Dave for running Mod Solo. You rock.
>> Yeah. Thanks, Dave, for >> Thank you, >> Cooper.
Yeah.
Trooper, man.
>> And then X Chips here said, "Goob is so funny. You should have him on again."
>> Maybe we will. Yeah, Goop, you did great. Look, uh, look, if you want me on again, I I'll gladly want to come. Um, yeah.
>> I feel like there's probably a bunch of other movies that are like in the on the list of yours for us to check out.
>> There's tons. Um, if you if so, >> if you want like a film that I would that that you want to if you want something where I can just go on about its history. Um, >> what is it?
>> Pocahontas.
>> Oh god.
>> I I can dissect that film cuz that is such a >> Watch that one.
>> That's such a mess of a movie.
>> Real fast. Kill Canon, thank you for gifting us five subs here. I wasn't expecting that here.
>> Oh, wow. More sub gifting.
>> Thank you so much. Let's get some Jennis in the chat for Kill here.
>> Um, but yeah, >> but a film I would uh if you want to come on just for me to to watch cuz I like it. Uh, The Rescuers. I love >> We haven't watched that. Rishi wants to watch that.
>> You haven't watched it? It's >> Well, I haven't watched I've I've watched it but it's been like a long time.
>> Right. Right. It hasn't been watched.
>> I've never seen it. I feel like now that I'm saying that out loud, it's embarrassing. But I've never seen >> No, no, it's not. It's not embarrassing.
It's such a I don't want to go on like a soap box. I could talk about this because it it unironically was one of the things that pseudo saved Disney in the dark age. Uh and it was a big hit, but like it kind of fell off the radar as time went on. Um but um but yeah, that's that's one of my favorites. And >> an American tale is another one cuz like >> I love history and that that film like >> well that's another one we want to watch too, >> right? Yeah. Yeah, it has. But um but yeah, for your files, I want to say just uh genuinely thank thank you Saber and and Asher like it's it's really been wonderful being part of this community and you know I never thought you know >> I I remember watching your Land Before Time uh TV marathon and just being like man it'd be so great to like come on and just chat with this guy one day, you know, not thinking I actually would.
