The rainbow method is a horizontal technique for multiplying two-digit numbers that involves three steps: (1) multiply the unit digits and write the result with carry, (2) multiply the outer numbers and inner numbers, add them together with the carry, and (3) multiply the tens digits and add the carry to get the final answer. This method is presented as an easier alternative to Vedic mathematics for learning 2-digit multiplication.

2-Digit Multiplication Made Easy! | Anyone Can Master Quickly | Rainbow Method
Added:My dear students, somebody has requested me in the comment section to make a video on multiplication of two-digit numbers.
Right? So, we'll take two by two. We call it two by two multiplication.
Say for example, 23 into 24.
There are two methods, actually.
One is very famous method. That is as per Vedic mathematics. There are so many videos on YouTube. You also must have watched.
They use symbols like this.
They use symbols like this.
And we'll start calculating from the right-hand side to left-hand side like this.
From the right-hand side to left-hand side.
Right?
So, follow the let us follow the symbols now.
After this method, I will discuss another method which you may find much easier than this one.
And that is also another form of this method only. Right? And let us follow this now. Three fours are three fours are three fours are 12.
Carry one.
Then cross multiply the numbers and add them.
Two fours are eight plus two threes are six. Two fours are eight plus three twos are six. Eight plus six 14.
14 plus one 15. Write five here. Carry one again.
And the last arrow here, top to bottom, two twos are four plus one five.
552 is the answer. This is as per Vedic mathematics.
Now, we will solve through rainbow method.
This is vertical and the rainbow method is just horizontal.
Same thing, same procedure, but horizontal.
See here, 23 into 24.
Right?
What we'll do first here is we know that four is a digit in the units place here, two is a digit in the tens place.
Similarly, three is a digit in the units place, two is a digit in the tens place.
Right?
Now see, first we'll multiply the digits in the unit places. Three fours are three fours are 12. Write two, carry one.
Then form the rainbow like this.
Multiply the numbers, inner numbers.
Add the sum.
Right? Two the multiplication of outer numbers.
That's why we call it, no, rainbow method because of these curves.
Right? So, three twos are six plus two fours are eight. Six plus eight 14.
We have one here, plus one 15. Write five here and carry one.
Now we'll multiply the numbers in the tens place.
Two two here. Two twos are four plus one five.
552 is the answer. Whether you follow this method or this method, right?
Whatever you prefer, it is up to you.
Now, my friends as there are so many videos with respect to Vedic mathematics I would prefer rainbow method.
And if you ask me, I also feel this method is very easy to understand.
This horizontal method is very easy to understand. We'll take one more example.
36 into say 63.
36 into 63. 6 * 3 = 18. Write eight, carry one.
Then rainbow with plus.
6 * 6 = 36.
I'll do it slowly. 6 * 6 = 36 + 3 * 3 = 9. 36 + 9 is 45. 45 + 1 is 46. Write carry four, write only six.
Then 3 * 6 = 18. 18 + 4 22.
2 2 6 8 is the answer.
Let us do another example.
68 into 89.
68 into 89. First, [clears throat] 8 * 9 = 72. Two here, seven here. Then the form the rainbows. 8 * 8 = 64. 64 + 6 * 9 = 54. This is 118 + 7 125. Write only five. Then carry 12 here. 6 * 8 = 48. 48 + 12 60. 6 0 5 2 is the answer.
6 0 5 2 is the answer. We'll do another example here.
See another example. 83 into 28 for example.
3 * 8 = 24. Write four, carry two.
Then form the rainbow. 3 * 2 = 6. 6 + 8 * 8 = 64. 70. 70 + 2 72. Write only two here, carry seven. 8 * 2 = 16. 16 + 7 it is 23. 2 3 2 4 is the answer.
Another last example. 68 into 96 say for example. 8 * 6 = 48. Write eight, carry four. Form rainbow. 8 * 9 = 72. 72 + 6 * 6 = 36.
72 + 36 is 108. 108 + 4 112. Write only two here.
Carry 11. 6 * 9 = 54. 54 + 11 is 65.
So, the answer is 6,528.
If you practice, my friends, more the practice, more perfect you will become in this method. A time will come, inshallah, you will just look at the problem, and the multiplication will happen in the mind, and you will give the answer in less than 2 seconds, inshallah.
May Allah make this knowledge that we are spreading right for all of us. May Allah strengthen us with this knowledge. May Allah help us in staying steadfast.
Right? May Allah forgive us. May Allah keep us united in this world in piety and health. And may Allah unite us in Jannatul Firdaus in Akhira. Amen. Wa Akhiru Dawana Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Alameen. Subhanallahi Wa Bihamdihi.
Subhanaka Allahumma Wa Bihamdika.
Ashhadu An La Ilaha Illa Anta.
Astaghfiruka Wa Atubu Ilayk.
