I Owe $4,000 On This Apartment!Added:
Right now, I am at my old apartment complex that I just moved out of 4 months ago. And I'm about to go in here and ask them exactly how much I owe them because I signed a 12-mon lease here when I moved in here last April.
And uh I vacated the unit uh 4 months ago because I couldn't afford to live no more. And I'm about to go in here and see if it's possible they can put me on a payment plan before it hits my credit because I'm trying to uh get my credit right so I have a possibility of getting an apartment at some point in the near future, but I'm not going to be able to do it if they put this on my credit. It's raining out here today. Uh, so I'mma also ask them too if it's possible I can move back in.
They might say no for sure, but you never know. It don't hurt to ask.
Um, but I'm definitely about to see if they can put me on a payment plan and see exactly how much I owe. And I'm trying to take care of this before it hit my credit. I don't need nothing else hit my credit. Um, this unit is not on my credit yet.
Um, hold on. Is they open?
No. Come on.
What the heck? Why they not open?
God dang it.
They say they open today.
Shoot.
Hold on. Uh oh, dang. I might have to come back to this mug. Um hold on. I'm about to take y'all back to my uh old apartment though that I moved out of because I threw everything away out that mug.
They closed.
>> Um I don't know. Maybe I came late.
>> Yeah, they um >> lunch.
>> That's what I'm thinking. They might be on lunch. So, let me take them to Let me take y'all back to my old apartment real quick. Show y'all they might be back at like 1:00 cuz I think they do go lunch around 12:00 or something.
Um, so I'm going to take y'all back to my uh my old apartment. And uh I'm going tell y'all why like I I threw everything away. Like I threw this whole apartment away when I moved out this mug. uh because it was just a lot going on around that time I had to move and I couldn't afford it. And I actually tried to get help with this apartment before I moved out. Like I was reaching out to like uh rental assistance programs. I was reaching out to churches. Uh and the the one church that that would have been able to help me, they couldn't help me again because they had helped me previously.
uh cuz I got behind on my rent at this mug a few times and uh they actually paid my rent for me one time and then I just couldn't find no other churches to help me because the balance was so high uh right before I had moved out this mug. So I'm like I ain't had no choice.
So I was just it was a lot going on. I was going through a lot and I had to just I just took everything and and moved out. Like I just threw everything away. I wonder if they got somebody moved into this unit though.
probably not because when I moved here uh there ain't been nobody in this unit for a long time.
But right here, I moved in here uh last April and um I moved in here last April right here.
That's a two bed room right here. This was This was my room right here. That was my son's room. It was a really nice unit. Uh, and it's it's crazy how I actually got approved to move in here, which is why I'm not losing all hope on possibly getting approved somewhere because when I moved here, my credit really was the same. It really was no difference in my credit. It's just that um I had uh I had a lot of income. So, when I first moved here last April, I didn't have no job. Um, I only used my my uh my content income, but at the time, I was like, it has showed like $19,000 uh within like two months or something like that on my uh you feel me on my uh my bank statements. So, that was enough for them to be like, "Okay, yeah, he'd make way more." I was right here at unit 200, I tell you. Boy. But um I don't miss living here because this was extremely stressful.
Uh I thought that I would be okay living here. This was actually my first market rate apartment. Um because previous to here I lived in two different low incomes that I owe one of them $412 which I'm going to get that taken care of and then I owe the other one $800 which I'm going to get that taken care of which both are on my credit. Now this apartment did not hit my credit yet. So I have to take care of this before it actually hits my credit and make it worse. So, um I'mma try to um get it taken care of before they actually send it to collections if it's not already at collections or try to at least make some type of payment on it or hopefully see if they settle for less possibly. Um because I have to stop running from this stuff because if I keep running from these things on my credit, then nothing is ever going to get better. right now. This unit though, when I say I was extremely surprised that I was able to move here. Um, I was I was shocked, right? I was shocked. But again, I had so much income at the time.
I guess they just look past my credit.
You know what I'm saying? They look complete completely past my credit. And then, uh, let me take you out to the back real quick.
This was a two bedroomedroom, twob.
It came with a washer and dryer in the unit. It had uh really nice uh wooden floors that was like a gray grayish blackish color. Um now it wasn't luxury by any means, even though the outside of the apartment complex says uh luxury. That's why like it caught my eye when I rolled past. And this was actually one of the first apartments that I had applied to uh once I moved I was ready to move out my last low income. This my balcony, my old balcony right here. Oh, yep. There ain't nobody in there. They still ain't move nobody in here. I see cuz the windows open. That's exactly how I left it. Yep.
I left everything exactly like that. So, they still ain't move nobody in here.
So, hey, you might never know. Once I talk to them, they might let me move back to this mug. I don't know. I don't even know if that's possible. But, you know, it don't hurt to to try. But like either way, I need to get the balance here taken care of. But that's why I'm saying like I'm not going to lose all hope with getting approved somewhere because every apartment complex is completely different. What one accepts the other one might not accept and vice versa. So, some people may be a little bit more lenient on credit. Uh others may be more stricter on credit and rental history. But um yeah, so if I got the the problem is well not the problem, the thing is right now at this specific moment I have the money to move, right? I just don't have the credit and rental history to move because of my past balances and stuff.
And that's not even including this unit right here. But these was really decent apartments. I felt like um it was a little worse than I than I originally thought it was because it was like it looked very old. It was old. I didn't like the design in it, but it was the first apartment that I had applied for. Um and it was and they approved they approved me the same day, right?
Um, now let me tell y'all something real quick.
Hopefully we can get back to the about go back to leasing office and hopefully they um they open. Uh, now I let me let me remind y'all again.
I moved here based solely off content creation income. I didn't have a job at the time, nothing. Right. And everything was okay for the first I say about 3 months.
This dog at it was okay for the first 3 months. I'm about to tell y'all exactly why I uh I threw everything out my apartment. Like everything that was in this apartment, I just completely threw it away in this very dumpster right here.
In this very dumpster right here.
Um, so everything was okay. Um, when I first moved here, um, and I did it big, too.
When I moved here, I had paid a moving company, uh, which cost me like $1,000 something dollars. I had the, uh, my security deposit was 2,500 something to move in, which I had that.
And then, uh, which I also didn't get my security deposit because I vacated the unit. So, I had to forfeit that, which was kind of crazy, especially with me only owing three more months. I just couldn't do it. You know what I'm saying? Not by myself. Um, so I uh everything was going cool, right?
But then my income on my channel started to drop, right? That was my main source of income at the time. It started to drop. And at first, I was getting by with it. like I was making just enough to pay just the rent right after the first 4 months. And then eventually uh eventually that's when my uh utilities started to like pile up because with the YouTube income, it was only just enough to pay the rent. And then the the car note, my truck note, I was behind on that mug for months and then eventually my lights got cut off in this mug. Right. Real life stuff, bro.
like it ain't ain't no jokes, bro. Ain't no games. This is real life stuff, bro.
People go through stuff like this all the time. Uh but unfortunately, it happened to me. But uh yeah, my license ended up getting cut off. Um and then what I did was I had I had came up with like I'm like I'm like, "Okay, cool." I was at first I was super embarrassed to talk about like me being behind on my rent here because everybody had seen me like blow up on YouTube and move into this apartment. So I was extremely embarrassed to to tell my channel and my audience that I couldn't afford it no more. But eventually I didn't have no other options. I'm like I had to uh I was talking to my mom about moving in with her at the time. She my mom told me no when I first was like couldn't afford here. So, I was surprised that my mom let me come now cuz my mom originally told me no when I when I first here and I asked my mom for help. She couldn't do it at the time. Um and uh boy, boy, I tell you, boy, hold up.
This is crazy. So, this what I did right at this point. I had reached out to some churches. Nobody could help me. um the the the light bill and all of that was way past due. Um so it was just all bad.
It was like at that point the best choice for me was to just get up out of there. So luckily my mom ended up letting me move in with her. But look, let me tell y'all something. Uh no, no, no. The fir before I actually moved out, this was a few months before I moved out when I was still trying to keep the apartment before I got to the like the breaking point to where I had to leave.
Uh, I started sharing like my eviction process cuz I got uh like Nah, bro, I ain't going to I can't even cap. I had got like four eviction notices from them, man. Well, not eviction notices, but like court notices. You know how they put that 7-day notice on your door.
I had got like four of those mugs. And one of them I got the help from the churches to to get it paid. You feel me?
And then uh after that, the churches couldn't help me no more. So, I started sharing. I'm like, "Okay, if I just start sharing my my journey on my channel, you know, telling my audience like, "Bro, I can't afford this apartment no more. Maybe it'll help me get the money for the rent." So, that's exactly what I did. So, I started sharing my whole process of like, "Bro, I can't afford this crib no more. I'm about to get evicted out this mug." And then the views started shooting up. And what do you know? I had made enough money to actually pay the rent here for like another couple months. You know what I'm saying? But then eventually fuse went back down again. I was still behind on my truck note.
The utility still wasn't even all the way caught up. Um I had I did ended up getting assistance with the utilities here from uh DTE. They had put me on a uh protection cut shut off protection program, right? And all of this is I showed on my channel. Now, I did delete those videos um because I was I was embarrassed about that at one point. I wish I wouldn't have deleted it cuz, you know, it's just part of the journey, but I was really embarrassed about that.
Like, I didn't want nobody know I couldn't afford my crib and all that.
But, uh yeah, um it was a crazy journey.
So, uh yeah, eventually uh I I I just had to move out. So, that's what I did, right? That's what I did. So, it was like I was like two months behind. two months behind on this mug. And then uh this was four months ago. I was two months behind. I had no other options. I couldn't get no help. I still didn't have a a a solid income at the time. I was working like for 13 an hour delivering groceries. It wasn't that much money for real. It was something, but it wasn't enough to afford this.
So, I ended up throwing my entire apartment away. Literally, I spent I I woke up at like 6:00 in the morning. No, no, no. I started at like 7:00 at night.
This was at my complete breaking point where I'm just like, I don't know what to do. I called my mom. I was in tears.
I'm like, mama, this is I can't do it. I don't know what to do. I gotta leave.
And my mom was like, calm down. It's going to be okay. Just just come here. Okay. So, I didn't want to take nothing. My mom was extremely upset at me that I threw my entire apartment away cuz she was just like, "Ne, you need that stuff. But when you when you move out, like I threw I cleared out the whole apartment and just threw everything in this very dumpster.
I'm talking about my bed, my my furniture, my my uh all my majority of all my clothes, some of my shoes, my microwave, my air fryer, all the food. I had a freezer refrigerator full of food.
Uh um it was around Christmas time too. So the apartment was decorated with Christmas decoration. I threw everything away. And how and how crazy is that? It was right around Christmas time that I had to just dip out my apartment. It was like maybe a week before Christmas or something like that. Crazy. I just threw every this whole dumpster filled up with my whole apartment. And then I had called my dad uh like a week or so later to help me move my big stuff like my bed, which I was gonna keep, but I ended up throwing that away. And then my dad helped me take my TV to the pawn shop, which I'm going to get out on Tuesday that I showed y'all yesterday. Uh but I I just didn't want nothing. I'm just like, I got to start over. I got to start over. It was It was crazy. Um so that is, you know what I'm saying?
That's why I'm having a hard time getting approved for anything right now.
uh cuz it's likely just because of my two low incomes that's on my credit and you know just my uh my credit history with the balances that I I showed y'all yesterday and then uh my two low incomes that's that's on my credit right now.
But this ain't even hit my credit yet.
So or I don't know or maybe they saw it on my rental history. I don't know how they could do that. But like yeah, bro.
Like I I was it was extremely stressful though. It was extremely stressful uh because the the rent here, like I said, $1,480 a month, but that wasn't including the the utilities, the DTE, the consumers, and uh the internet package for the water, sewer, trash, and then internet.
That's where the extra uh 140 came from because the rent was originally 130080, but I had to pay the 114 extra for the utility package that came with the internet and all that. But I don't get me wrong, I was excited when I first moved here because it was my first ever apartment like with outside a low income. And my mom told me not to move.
I should have listened. She said, "Dante, do not leave that low-inccome apartment." But at the time, I was just I was doing good on the YouTubes. I had all the money. I'm like, "Mom, I'm cool, man. This market rate ain't no joke. I'm telling you, it's no joke." Um, I thought it was going to be easier than it was, but that junk adds up, especially $1,400 a month, especially with no solid job.
I set myself up for failure. That was my own fault. I thought I was ready, though, man. Um, but all that did was put me in the worst situation.
um that could have been prevented, but you know, I just had to learn the hard way, the very hard way. But it was extremely stressful. I never had like a good month here ever. It was just always, damn, we got to make this money for the rent. We got to make this money for the rent, all while worrying about my truck note, the utilities, then, you know, trying to take care of a family at the time. Like, it was a lot, bro. It was a lot. So, when I moved to mom's crib, it was a big relief. All right. It was a extremely big relief. It was it sucked that I had to just move out like that and and and turn in my keys with like four months left on the lease, but it was still it also was a sign of relief. Just like I can breathe now cuz I was just trying so hard for that not to happen. But once it actually happened, I'm just like, "Okay, cool. It is what it is." But um yeah, so now I just got to get my credit taken care of.
It's the weekend. I was going to talk to a credit uh lawyer today, but I got to do that Monday cuz none of them open.
So, Monday we going to talk to a credit lawyer and see if they can wipe my credit clean. Uh they charge like a fee to like they can take care of it without me having to file a actual bankruptcy.
You feel me? So, a bankruptcy is going to be my last option. Uh but I'm going to talk to a credit lawyer before I actually start making payments on this stuff on my credit to see if I can get most of it cut in half or all the way removed. Right? So, I got to play it smart, man. Uh because if I just try to pay everything off on my credit, which I can do right now, uh it's not going to affect my credit score for at least the next 6 to9 months anyway. So, let me just see if I can get it off before I actually just try to pay all of it. You know what I'm saying? But, uh either way, I'm getting it taken care of. But, I'm still going to be trying to find me a crib. And my wonderful, beautiful girlfriend in here offered to, you know, uh get a crib for me. But I'm like, "Nah, cuz I don't know if that bud to you, babe."
Cuz she was like, "Be I I I just go I go apply for it." I'm like, "Nah, you feel me?" Loyal, loyal. But I'm not trying to get her all tied into my my my financial mess and all that. You know what I'm saying? Uh, so I'm a man. I got to figure it out on my own. But let's go see if they at this leasing office. Um, and uh see if they got a uh if they can put me on a payment plan. And I'mma ask I'mma ask him if I can move back in this mug, too. Bro, it don't hurt to ask. You never know. But let's go see.
Bro, come on. Why not open?
Come on, dude.
All right. Um, they said they was open today before I got out here. All right.
So, I'm just have to come back here Monday. So, um yeah, that's what we going to do. Uh so, next video we going to come back here because this is literally a very important step to getting my credit right is to prevent this apartment from actually hitting my credit. So, we have to get this taken care of. Um like I said, man, I got the money to get this stuff paid now. Um so, I need to to catch it before it actually hits my unit. I mean, hits my credit.
So, next video we coming back here to see exactly how much I owe, to see if they'll settle because that is an important first step to getting my credit right, rebuilding, and trying to get approved for an apartment. Um, so we got a lot of work to do. But we going to come here Monday morning and see what they say because I'm very curious on exactly how much I owe all together and if they will be willing to settle because I really need them to like I do not need this on my credit, bro. I can't afford that right now. So, uh, next video we going to come right back here and then the, uh, and then after that we going to, uh, hit the credit lawyer, too, to see what they say. So, uh, yeah, next video we got some stuff to do. Try to get the stuff taken care of. Um, but it all starts with making progress. Um, taking steps and not running from this stuff no more and, you know, get it done while we can.
So, next video coming right back here to see exactly how much I owe. Um, and see if they settle. So, I'll see you on the next one.
