[00:00:01]Scientists [music] discovered a planet so dark it reflects less light than coal. The terrifying world is called TrES-2b, one of the strangest planets ever discovered. [music] Scientists believe its atmosphere absorbs almost all visible light, making it darker than black paint or charcoal.

[00:00:23]But despite its darkness, the planet is hotter than lava. TrES-2b orbits extremely close to its star, causing temperatures hotter than 1,000° C.
