[00:00:00]What is going on today? I thought we were going to have this voter Rama. I thought we were going to have this funding. I thought we were going to be celebrating getting things done.

[00:00:08]It looks like it's not happening. What's going on today up there? Yeah, it's not going to happen today. We're going to you know, this is a hard job, you know, they were we're being sent home on recess.

[00:00:17]So, it's really frustrating. We sit here and watch the Democrats shut down government, shut down Homeland Security, not fund CBP and ICE, and then so we have to do it through a a process called reconciliation which only takes Republican votes.

[00:00:30]And unfortunately, we couldn't come together today to be able to do that.

[00:00:33]So, we're going to go home and hopefully uh when we get back, which will be we'll be gone all next week, uh hopefully when we get back, people will come together to be able to get this funding done. We have got to fund CBP and ICE. They they don't have unlimited resources and you're right, Dad, there's uncertainty.

[00:00:50]Um so, is this is what the Democrats have done is crazy. We should never ever have um signed off on all their crazy spending bills with earmarks back in December and January and then leave Homeland Security and especially ICE and CBP without being funded.

[00:01:07]Yeah, Senator, and that frustration is felt by all Americans. And I know a lot of people say, "Oh, no, they have funding in the big beautiful bill." That funding is supposed to go to enhancing enforcement operations, not funding the agencies. They're using it, but that should be going to building more detention facility capacity, boosting our forces on the border, boosting our removal authority so we can get these guys out that are preying on innocent Americans. And now it's being used for a budget. Now, what a lot of Americans are also frustrated about is they see Republicans with the majority in the House, narrow, but they have one. Narrow majority in the Senate. And then like you mentioned today, now Republicans in the senators are going home. Now, a lot of people are going to try to blame Republicans, but this is a Democrat shutdown. But somehow they've been able to navigate this through fake narratives and their friends in the media and make it seem like this is a Republican problem.

[00:01:54]How can Republicans fight back against these Democrats with what they're doing with the holding this money? And really use even if it's a slim majority, start to get creative and and and use um really our ability to fight back against them. Reconciliation is a perfect plan, but now it's postponed to June. What can we do to fight back?

[00:02:12]Well, we've got to come together and have a plan of where we're going to go.

[00:02:14]So, number one, we have to say we are going to fund uh CBP and ICE. I know the Democrats are going to cause us, you know, a lot of votes, but we got to stay here and get it done. That's That's number one. Number two is the things we care about. Balancing the budget, the Save America Act. None of those are going to happen with Democrat votes. And so, the only way they're going to get done is we got to get rid of the filibuster. The filibuster was never supposed to stop a bill. It was supposed to just stop debate after people had the conversation. So, let's have the debate, but we're going to vote. We're going to vote to balance the budget. We're going to vote to get rid of earmarks. We're going to vote to pass the Save America Act to secure election. So, and support the president's agenda. I mean, this You know, Trump is just busting his butt every day trying to protect American lives and build our economy. We need to do everything we can to help him.

[00:03:01]Now, how do we get rid of that filibuster? We've proposed this talking filibuster where actually senators have to stand there and say, "Okay, here's why I'm not going to vote on this bill."

[00:03:09]And then when they pass out from exhaustion, okay, cool, we can use our majority even if Vance has to come and pass this legislation. But, Thune is saying, "Well, we don't have the votes to even do that. Certainly not the votes to block the filibuster." What can be done to get leadership to whip this caucus together to get us the votes we need to get this important legislation across the to the president's desk.

[00:03:31]After Tuesday, we've seen the American people really want to see results. What can we do to get this stuff to the president's desk and get past the Democrats blocking all of this important legislation?

[00:03:41]Number one, call every senator, Republican, Democrat, call them and say you want these things done. Whatever you care about, call them and tell them.

[00:03:47]Number two is 51 of us have got to come together like we did a year ago when Democrats were blocking all the nominations, we came together and said we're not going to allow that to happen.

[00:03:56]We're going to pass nominations with the with 50 votes and not not wait till till we get 60 votes. And so we're going to have to do the same thing with the filibuster. We're going to have to get rid of it to get the Trump agenda done or we're going to have spent you know, the first two years of the Trump presidency and get nothing accomplished and have nothing to run on in November.
