This video analyzes episodes 7-8 of 'My Royal Nemesis,' revealing how historical Korean royal court dynamics shaped character relationships, particularly the Grand Prince's forbidden relationship with court lady Dan-shim, which led to her being framed for treason and becoming a concubine. The hosts discuss how characters like Dan-shim carry immense guilt from past trauma, while the Grand Prince's dream sequence reveals his subconscious memory of their connection. The analysis also covers villainous scheming by Telmundo, the antagonist's strategic manipulation of court politics, and how these historical elements create compelling dramatic tension in modern storytelling.

Unnies React: My Royal Nemesis Ep 7 & 8 | Chasing K-Dramas | Korean Drama PodcastHinzugefügt:
Harang. Welcome to Chasing K Dramas, the podcast that dissects popular Korean dramas episode by episode. We dig into the characters, the themes, and everything in between. I'm Pissy Choy, and I'm here with my co-host, Dan.
Yeah. What's it?
>> Um, today we are here for Ones React for my royal nemesis, >> the Ones reacting. We got opinions on for episodes seven and eight which just came out this past Friday and Saturday and >> oh my god um it's it's it's good. I I really like this drama. I texted you and I was like this drama is so freaking good.
>> It's so good. It's so good. I was in a podcast talking about it cuz it it was it's called it's called uh >> sleeping with celebrities. And so basically it's like a sleepy time thing.
And so he had like an old school sleep cap and then I put my uh bonnet on. Um because it's like if he's wearing an old school sleep cap out here like Ebony and Scrooge, I got to put my bonnet on, right? And so I put my bonnet on and we talked talked about dramas and I talked about this show and uh it's such a good show. I am really excited about it. And I saw somebody comment on Tik Tok like about episode eight like can't she just tell him >> that the cousin? But so many dramas you're like, can't she just tell >> just tell him communication? Tell him tell him that you love him. Tell him tell him tell him that you need him. Tell him just tell him. I don't understand. I don't understand. But I don't I know we'll get on a tangent. So, I'm going to follow your leads. We're going to start start with episode seven.
>> Episode seven. Yeah. No, I mean I think like there's really um I agree. So, uh, we open and we don't we don't we're just going to do quick reactions. So, like for me, one of the big things like we open and they're back to that kiss scene that we were like squealing about.
Um, >> for me, what was so funny is how she plays dumb, right? She remembers everything and she plays dumb and he is just like he doesn't know how to handle it. Well, I think it at the in the words of my people at the first beginning um I don't think she fully remembers everything. I think she's getting her pieces.
>> I think also >> Oh, towards the end there, you know, the next she remembers. No, towards the end I think she gets everything. But I think at one point it hits her kind of like oh like as somebody who's only been blackout drunk one time >> in Korean. Remember we talked about this before I explained it to you the film cutting which I love that expression. of okay because I >> and so cuz my homeboy would get blackout drunk all the time and I was explain this to me because I would be talking to you and we would be going places and doing things and he goes it's he goes it's literally like your brain stops recording.
>> Yeah. Yeah.
>> So the way that >> the film is cut and I was like >> but you were up and about talking to people spending money. Um we're going multiple locations. He's like, "Yeah."
And I was like, >> "That's so scary." If you think about it, >> scary. And as a grown I guess because he's a grown man, >> it would be fine. But for me, I was like, it happened to me one time in college.
>> Yeah. And then again, right?
>> No. Also, I was sick for three days.
Like I didn't go to class.
>> You're sick as a dog.
>> So I was sick of the dog. I'm laying on the floor of the sority house. feel like >> the one that I lived in. I wasn't even in the sorority sliding on the floor and I and I'm just like how the how does anybody en I think people's body like the way people's body's chemistries are different. Not everybody is meant to drink >> like that. That's why I think like my >> I can hold I can actually hold my liquor pretty well. But um there was this one time when I was in New York when I was this was actually kind of like in my early 20s. My friend and I, we I I lived in Manhattan then, but she and I went drinking in Brooklyn and genuinely I don't remember how I got home, but I took the train back, which is kind of, if you think about it, it's a little scary. Oh, yeah. I'm fine. What do you mean if you think about it? If you don't even have to think about it a lot, that's so scary.
>> I made it back though. I made it back and I woke up the next morning. I was in my bed snug as a bug, you know, makeup completely removed. I'm very good at that. Like, I take care of myself. So, my makeup removed. I had all my like moisturizer still on like this and I was like, "Oh man, never again."
>> I used No, I always when I was in college, I was very good at holding liquor.
>> I mean, I'm still good at holding liquor, but then I like in college I lost like >> 40 lbs.
>> Oh, yeah. And that changes it. And then you >> And my alcohol and so my alcohol tolerance did change, but after that, not only did it change, I was just like I didn't even I've never been somebody who really enjoyed being drunk anyway.
like tipsy >> give me a little tipsy but I also but then I found out it's like your body reacts to different things so that's why once I found soju and I was like oh this is my drunk it's it was the it was the components of it cuz it was like whiskey was fine beer was always awful but I was like rice I'm a rice girly it's from the ancestors I'm I'm a >> it's perfect >> well so we find out though this is a good segue we find out that Sig was not drinking. So, you know, the night before they were having their little, you know, their celebration post photo op.
>> Uhhuh. But he kept on drinking water.
So, he was completely sober. That's why he was able to drive her and they were able to get to that remote island. That made me scream as well. The remote island. I was laughing so hard because clearly you are not in the most remote island ever. It's literally across the street from Chedjudo because you see the buildings and she's like freaking out and I loved how he was joking with her.
He was like teasing her. Oh my god, I love him so much. I think he's such a good actor. But then um I loved the hyos the ladies, right? The the swimmers, right? The divers of um of Cheddo. And then they were like um teasing them being like, "Oh, like did you guys have cuz it was really cute." He was like, "Uh, I guess we have to live here now. I guess we're destro I guess we're stranded. We'll never see our families again." And she's like, "Why are you so okay with this? I don't understand why you don't have a problem with this." And he's like, "Uh, we're trapped. It's terrible." And I would then literally just turn turn around >> and there's full on fullon civilization.
And cuz they just walked to they walked 50 feet to the other part of this island. Honestly, I think it's I Have you ever had this happen to you before?
>> What?
>> Like where the tide comes in and you're stuck?
>> No. No.
>> So, if you go down to Marco Island off like it's off it's on the Gulf Coast of Florida.
>> Um and so Marco Island is we went when I was a kid with my family and um >> basically what happens is like it's these sand bars, but the sand bars disappear as the tide comes in. And so it was like me and my I had to be like 10 or 11 years old, but I was like already taller than my aunt. And so I had my baby cousin >> cuz my aunt was too short. And so it was me >> with a baby cousin in a blanket tied around the front of me trying to get cuz like the tide came in very fast. Oh my god, I forgot.
>> It was very scary because all cuz none of the time I think >> I think my aunt wasn't even 5 feet tall.
I was maybe 5'1. My mom is like 53. My brother was little. All none of us are over 5'2. And so it's trying to the tide's coming in and I'm holding my tiny aunt and a baby. I'm 10. And so I'm trying to get to this sandbar so we could get back to the shore. But yeah, cuz like you don't think you're like it's not going to get me. I'll be five.
You look up and you're like I'm in the sea.
>> I know. Well, they were Yeah. So they get saved by a fisherman and the ladies are there and then when they get to shore they like start feeding her abalone and like oysters and she's having the time of her life and they recognize her because she has fans now.
>> Do you eat oysters? Like >> I love oysters. Oh, I would. When I was watching that I was like let's go. Oh my gosh. So I loved like pusam. You know pusam the pork wrap. Traditional pusam in Korea. Oh they do this here too. But if you go to like more traditional restaurants, it's the pork and then you put the k. So you put the oyster on top and then you put all the radish. Oh, chef's kiss. I can eat oy like I freaking love oysters. I can eat oysters for days.
>> I know. I know. I feel like it probably makes you nervous.
>> It's the consistency.
It's that because I can't say can I tell you the first time I ever had an oyster.
It's because I was shooting a TV show with Eva Longoria >> and she wanted to get oysters for lunch and so it was like me and her and her hair and makeup and my hair and makeup >> and we're in this restaurant in LA.
>> Skinny lunch.
>> What a And I was >> I want I I want I went to dozen oysters.
>> And that's what And so and so she was showing me like all the different ways.
So she did like the hot sauce and the horseradish and all of that. And I'm just sitting there going, I'm just gonna be hungry today. And I tried it. And she was like, well, you chew it, but then you don't chew it. I was like, that's a lot of instructions and we're telling me everything and nothing at the same time.
And so it's like cuz it's you kind of eat what your parents eat, right? And so my mom was always like, right. And so and then I would see what they look like and I'm like, I'm kind of okay.
>> And they were like, it's aphrodesiac.
And I'm like, I'm 12 so I don't need that. And so the first time I ever had one, she was like, well, you kind of slurp it and you do that. And she had the different I think I saw her eat like 15 >> if that cuz she had like different kinds come out. She's like, "Well, this one's a little more sweet. This one's a little more that." And I just was like, >> and I tried like three of them. And I'm like, "I'm out. I'm out." It was the texture. I couldn't I couldn't get the technique right. I know. So, what they were doing like fresh that is like my dream like fresh. Fresh. You pull it out. You have a little of the salt water and the brine in there. But she was having the time of her life. And then um I really like that scene though because again I I really throughout this these two episodes I felt like the way he's looking at her he has so much love and he thinks she's funny which I am obsessed with. He thinks she's bonkers but he's like watching her react and then he'll like laugh those I think this actor I am obsessed with him. Like how did he not get bigger earlier? Like I don't understand how we are just I mean he's been in stuff but like he should be like >> at a like a ponk you know like ponog perfect crowd he's huge he this guy should be at his level right now I mean I think he will be after this >> I saw something on TikTok and it was like it was him but it was like it was >> I think he had a bit of a glow up because >> when I saw him on the other shows I was just like I guess it is him but it was like almost like as he was like younger and it was just like, oh, he's got the man face now. Okay, he's he's squared out.
>> He's like a man now. Yep.
>> I wish you watched Star Trek. I wish you watched Star Trek because the season one the season two Riker when the man meat kicks in and so cuz when you see a man hit his early 30s and that and he just starts to fill out in a different way, I call it the man meat because it's just like >> it's true.
>> His chest didn't used to be shaped like this. his shoulders in used to be shaped like like there's just some there's like another level of man that kicks in when a man hits his 30s and you're just like okay the man meet done showed up because if there's any like softness in the cuz I was like I was I was like oh you didn't even recognize him and I was like oh did he get work done and then I was looking at his face I was like oh no he got a skincare regimen one >> two yeah >> it you could see the shape of his body >> I mean that >> actually changed cuz that's a man in a suit >> I mean the gratuitous is the grout to your shower scene in the earlier episode was amazing, but then this scene we get a little bath scene and I was like those shoulders.
Also, where is this tub? This man is in a what? How? What is this chosan era that he's got?
>> Did you notice you know like in um so the grand prince right in the chosan era he has like his like room has a bunch of the greenery the plants. It's the same thing in house. I noticed that. I was like, "Huh?" Oh, yes. But, um, >> him wearing the mask, him without the mask, him with clothes, him without the clothes. I'm just like, I have never been like, Thomas is watching, we watched it last night together, and I was like, he is so good looking. And Thomas is like, hey, let's let's let's calm down. And I'm like, I'm so sorry.
I'm like, this man, like, this is it. I apologize, sir. I have not felt like this about about like a K-pop or like a Kdrama person in a very long time. And I'm just like >> the voice the voice the acting the acting too. He can act. And all I ask >> he's acting his ass off.
>> He can act.
>> He is Oh my god. And I Anyways, we we we don't have to gush about him. Like I I honestly have the biggest crush on this kid. He's adorable. I just want to just put in my little pocket.
>> Yeah. Anyh who, he's not tall though.
>> I noticed he's not that tall. He's about like they were standing and there it's it's you know so he's not like a he's not like a sixfooter but >> but he a whole man >> the shoulders cuz one of my friends keep trying to tell me he's 5'10 and I'm just like but I feel like our shoulders are near each other and I don't listen I don't >> giving the benefit of the doubt everybody's taller than me.
>> It's kind of bold though when you say you're 510. Usually it's like the petite men are like I'm 5'9. I feel like they say 5'9 as like the like that, you know, you just kind of nod. You know what I mean? Clearly, you're 5'4 or 5'5, sir, but sure, you're 5'9. We give you the man inches, you know.
>> Hey, listen. As long as he's got the man inches, he can be five foot. Long as he got the man inches.
>> Stand on that. He'll be 5'9.
>> Okay. So, um, did you have a fun moment?
>> I can't say the most surprising moment for me actually caught me >> in episode seven is when he sent her that box for her birthday.
>> I sobbed.
>> Don't say I cried.
>> Okay, maybe you didn't think it was sweet. What did you >> No, no, no. I thought it was so sweet, but then I heard it was playing When You Wish Upon a Star, and I was like, "Bitch, you got to pay Disney for this.
What is you doing?
Okay. So I that was my girl what moment.
I'm like girl how Netflix you gonna have to give Disney a bet. Do you know how old this song is? I So I saw >> Disney the oldest song since [ __ ] Jim Crow. How what are you talking about?
>> It's Jiminy Crickets in the corner. I was just expecting it to come out.
>> This is a Jim Crow. This is [ __ ] segregate. What? Nobody could vote. What are you? How did you get the right?
>> Okay. So I saw I was like I got so emotional because it's that damn dog.
The dog or >> and then it was great but then I agree with you they ruined it when at the end she chases after him you know at the she chases after him. She goes to um his uh she or whatever. Yeah. And then the the the the the reporters are there and then they're they're like holding hand they're like having the moment and it's ruined because they start playing the song and the lyrics start popping up and I was like what are we doing? Why are you ruining this perfect moment? You know what I mean?
>> Because they want you to know they paid for this song.
>> I was like this is just >> Disney will shut your Disney will shut your city down. Disney will come through and own 30% of Netflix. I did not I was listening to I was like, "Is that the melody? Are those the words, girl?"
>> It cracked it threw cracked me up.
>> Threw me off. Threw me absolutely off. I did not understand what was going on.
But I also love the fact that she came to help him because she was like, "I'm not going to get caught up behind some man again. I'm not going to do this again. This isn't going to happen again." And then grandma was like, "Live your life, baby girl."
>> I know. I know.
>> Live your life, baby girl.
>> And one thing about um Tanim or Hoodie, and I feel like it's interesting, we always call her hoodie, but now I feel like we should be calling her Tanim because >> well after episode 8. Yeah.
>> Because she's having this like, you know, she even says it, it's like imposttor syndrome. She's like, I'm not her. It ain't my birthday.
>> I'm not I'm not. And then I, you know, we talked about it in the last episode, but you know, the way she treats her, the way she approaches her grandmother, it's like this too. She had this like good like large sense of guilt now because hadn't she never had a parental figure, you know, rooting her, right?
Rooting for her. She was sold into slavery, which is so sad. And then her grandma's there, and every time her grandma is like just there be like, "Do your thing. Do your thing. You know, go for your dreams. I don't want to be a burden. You do you." And you can just see >> how it's affecting her and it's um yeah, I feel like weird calling her hoodie now. I feel like we should call her Danim.
>> I think after old boy had that dream.
But it's so interesting cuz people are like uh cuz remember when my friends asked me cuz it's like you know her parents were like we're like when are you going to get married and and my friend was like did your mom I was like my mom never pressured me >> to get married or have a kid. She wanted that for me and she knows that's what I want, >> but she never once said it to me >> at all. She was always like >> she was always so supportive of cuz so many people especially when you go into like entertainment, a lot of people's parents aren't supportive >> because it's a tough life. It's not easy. It's it's not an easy road. Yeah.
And I think the only reason that, you know, my family has been supportive is because my uncle is successful.
>> Because he's a singer, >> right? So since my uncle Steve has been singing longer than I've been alive, >> um, you know, since literally before I was born, >> he because there was an example I think if you have an example in your family of someone who is has been making a living for over 40 years.
>> Yeah. in the entertainment industry and he's called the king of freestyle. So, it's to be able to have that in my family, I think it was able it was it was more feasible and it made sense because there was an example >> of that in my family. But to have somebody to be supportive of her when she did not have that. I also know I also feel like she doesn't know how to like sometimes things will happen like sometimes I'll be like you know talking to some man who's treating me really nice and I'm just be like hey bro I'm a shelter dog.
>> I'm not accustomed to this kind of treatment. So if you just give me two seconds to kind of just adjust.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
>> Because there's how you want to be treated but then how you have been treated. And so there's things you just have to be like >> okay. All right.
>> I know. I know. And she I think some of the guilt with grandma is that she doesn't know how to function. And it just she's like, "I've never had anybody in my corner.
I've never had anybody love me like this." And I think that's >> other than the past repeating itself >> with Se. I think that's the other thing where he's just like, >> "I'm going to care about you. I'm going to love you. I'm going to do all of these things." Cuz here's the thing.
Everything that he is saying, we love it because she likes her back. because she likes him back. Yeah. If she did not like him, we'd be like, "Creep."
>> I mean, this is Yeah. The crepo meter.
Yeah. If this Yeah. No, but he >> If this would be Bob if this if all of these things are being said by Bob, >> Mr. Bob, >> hit this man with a white truck. I No, I don't know. But I was so excited for her. But old girl, what's her face? Uh, first of all, Telmundo is wearing me out. He his intel is now bad because he is like not >> well he's he's he's getting a little So before we do that let's talk let's we can talk about episode 8 but I did want to flag this part about episode 7. I love the aunt the auntie showing up.
>> I was screaming when that money envelope came out. I was like >> you know you know that's a goal for myself is to have somebody come up with an envelope of money and so cuz at first she was like are you pay she's like oh I know this drama you're paying me to stay away from him and she at first she was but then she was like so now you're paying me to stay with him girl what are we doing and so she flipped the script order >> yeah yeah she was like yeah I need you to make sure I need you to make sure that these two people do not get married and then you are in the relationship ship and then she's like, "What?" And she starts throwing what is it? The the the taffy stuff that she gets gifted, >> the licorice taffy at her. And then also that haircut they got on her cuz you know she was on my other show day and night and I'm just like >> I don't know if this is a wig >> because there's not even enough space.
It has to be there's not enough space to make it a wig.
>> I think she's always had a short cut. Uh the lady plays her, she's always had a short haircut like that. She's never had long hair. She's so funny >> because on Miss Day and Night, she's got a long book, but she's very like Omani Auma on that show cuz she's like a shop owner or something. Um like she owns a little restaurant. But >> um the young lady, what's her face?
She's >> I don't understand her tactics. I don't understand.
>> Yes.
>> She keeps showing up places and then the aunts are like, "Well, we got to be friends with this heer." And then um Emmo's like I I I got to go see what the campaign is cuz it's like >> cuz she shows up with the money >> to pay Si to not get with Sik >> and >> well no she wants her to get with >> Wants her to get with S. So it's just she's like what? And then Telmundo wants her to do >> okay just say and and Tel Telmundo's stressing me out. Okay let's talk about Telmundo and then we'll talk about Teahi.
Telmundo. Um, he is, like you said, I think he's making a mistake, but we have to talk about what is that baby on his phone? Who is that baby on the phone? I was >> the baby on the phone.
>> Who was he getting a baseball glove for?
>> Uh-huh.
>> And then, but he said she was like, "Well, this one's soft, so the kid can use it." And he goes, "Oh, he's not going to use it."
>> I So that's very that that was confusing. He's trying to split him and Muhei because he does not want those two companies to merge. Okay. But >> but if he had better intel, he would know that CK doesn't want to marry the lady either.
>> I think he knows though. He knows that Hege doesn't like her. He knows that Hege likes because he has that the bad intel. It's not even bad intel. It's he's not able to like things are kind of falling apart for him. Like he can't control the new the new girl, right? The fiance. Because the fiance, she apparently really likes him because she's a lunatic because she saw one picture of him. She's like, "That's mine." And she thinks she's crazy, but >> and so she bumped into him and spilled coffee on him and then hit his car on some weird meat cute [ __ ] >> It It is bizarre behavior. But she is trying to help him. So she's out maneuvering not not knowing like she has no idea that you know Telmundo has these plans. So she's out moon uh she's out maneuvering uh Telmundo without him like without realizing it but it's ruining his plans because he's also they also messed up with the nurse because the nurse isn't dead. So um Segan his assistant has gotten to the nur uh gotten to the nurse as well. So, his plans are kind of like it's a little loosey goosey for him right now. But, um I I think she's crazy. I I think the I think Tahi I I a I feel bad because we loved her in Perfect Crown. Like, I'm just like, whoa, this is going it's going crazy. Um but >> she also looks like she's lost weight, too.
>> I know. She's a little too skinny. She was so pretty in Perfect Crown. She's got I love her full face, >> you know? But you look so pretty. Yeah, >> she looks cute. She looks so cute. She looked adorable. Maybe she's trying to be more devious and she can't be cute.
But the thing is her features are still very adorable.
>> She's such a I know. So it's kind of weird when you're seeing her being mean and you're like what?
>> And then she just But then she's so then her body's so tiny. So now she's just out here looking like a calico critter just being real. just we she's cute, but I feel like the writing on her I don't like it how they're making her into this like like caricature of like a bad you know like a like the evil second lead who's like scheming. I just don't like that. Like I don't know.
>> I've gotten over the scheming second and you know I think you know why we don't like the scheming second lead is because in Dynamite Kiss we were given a second lead who was just like yeah she don't like you. I'm just all right.
>> She was >> She was a cucumber. We loved her. She was like She's like, I'm just going to try to get my man.
>> But she was also going after the second lead who had no chance.
>> So this time she's going after the first lead and I'm just like but it's like her tactics don't make any sense.
>> Um >> I don't her rolling up to the grandpa's house all the time is just too it's team too much.
>> It's it's too much.
>> The writing on her is feels weird.
>> I know. And which it makes me kind of sad because I feel like everything else is so spot-on. I wish they could have like done a little bit more with her.
But yeah, and then like Seg is like I don't like you. Leave me alone. And I love how he shuts her down. Like he is shutting her down left and right. She's like I should be I you should take me as your date to the party to your event.
He's like why would I do that? He's like go away.
>> We've never She's like we He's like we went on one we went on a half of a blind date. What are you talking about? Well, I think we should be together. He's like, I don't know who you are.
>> Yeah. And then they told >> Yeah. Go ahead. Sorry.
>> They went on half of a blind date. He's like, I don't know who you are. And he was just like, that's my woman. Leave us alone.
>> Yeah.
>> And then she was just like It's like I don't He keeps showing up and then and then he's now I don't get I honestly I don't like And now she's sending out all these press releases.
>> Oh yeah. I mean, she's doing some mean stuff. And then she tells He uh she tells Hodie, she's like, "Hey, what can you do? This is what I can do for Heekka. I can make him into a CEO. What can you do?" And she's like, "What?" And then, "Hey, that's like it's kind of it's pretty brutal if you think about it because in the grand scheme of things, Hoodie can't do that much, right?" And then she love him.
>> Yeah. Other than love and care for him.
And then she's like, "Oh." Um, she tells her that she's willing, she was willing to let him have side chicks >> while they're married. So, she's like, "Well, you can do that if you want." And I'm just like, "I want to slap you."
She's, "You can't make me a side chick when you've never been the main girl."
>> She's dul.
>> And he was like, "This." So, she says to him, "This is how you treat your fiance." He was like, "I wasn't trying to marry you in the first place. Where did you even come from?"
>> I know it's she even talking about.
>> She is team too much.
>> It is. Um, okay. So, now >> let's kind of talk about you want to kind of talk about the the chosen period in episode 8 because there is just so much to unpack there, >> girl.
>> Um, okay. So, and help me if I'm like I want to make sure that I'm understanding it correctly. But back in the Tuan era, there's >> well, Sodi gets jealous because there's potential marriage there. Uh, so the Grand Prince is getting marriage requests. So, she gets really upset and she realizes, oh, I can't really be with this guy because I am a servant and he is >> well, here's cuz it becomes a scandal.
Cuz here's the thing I was trying to remember.
>> It was like, why is this a scandal? And then I was like, "Oh, if they're both princes, that means the king is still alive, right?" And so every woman in the palace belongs to the king, right?
>> Technically. Yes. Yes.
>> So as the prince, you can't have a relationship with the court lady because every woman in the palace belongs to the king. because >> cuz that's the only way I could figure out why this is a problem because it's like why is this an issue? Because later on it's it's well issue that he's having a relationship with the court lady and I was just like but this has always been >> so my understanding was it wasn't an issue that he was having a relationship because I think this was happening across the board. I think this happened was very common >> they made up. So, Telmundo in order to trap him, trap uh the grand prince, Telmundo >> basically says, >> orchestrate says that he had attacked another court lady, right, that threw her down that well. He assaulted her, right? So, that was what he was caught for first. He was framed for that. And then he gets into even more trouble because he's trying to defend uh Tanim, right? Because Tanim, and this is the part where I'm like, okay, so Telmundo and the other court lady, they're trying to blackmail her, right?
She was in the >> because she was in jail and he was like either you >> either he dies of treason >> or you you say what happened because remember she gets in trouble with the court lady first and she was like how did you get this knife? This is a present. This is from this is precious jade from the king. How did you get this? How did you get this dagger? And she's trying not to say anything.
>> And then the king comes up and goes cuz remember at first he was like be the companion and she could never figure out why he wanted her and they ended up falling in love anyway. So, it's just like you told me to be the companion, I am the companion.
>> What could go wrong? And now you're and now he's using her against him. But we also don't know >> why the crown prince is doing this because >> it's like Iago situation. We don't know what the reasoning is for him doing these things other than just pure jeal cuz he's the crown prince. His brother can't do his brother can't take the throne from him. He's the crown prince.
>> So, right. And then but then there was a mention of a third brother. Something happened to the third brother.
>> Well, I believe so. The third brother is who he got the uh dagger from, the jade dagger from, who was an older brother.
So he was their older brother >> who was technically then the crown prince.
>> Crown prince. So that means Telmundo >> killed the older brother to become the crown prince. But if this is your younger brother, he's not a problem because unless you die.
>> Mhm. Or >> he can't become the Okay.
>> Or I think well we're answering your question. I think he just wants to get rid of him in general because he doesn't want any anyone vying for that throne because, you know what I mean? Unless he's like married and he has a child, he has an heir that locks it in, right?
That locks it in. But there's a chance, it's kind of like the crown uh the perfect crown situation. There's a chance, right, that he could become the king. So maybe he's just trying to get rid of any obstacle that there is for him to have and him and his descendants to have the throne. Um that actually makes sense. Yeah. Yeah. Cuz even then if there is an heir, the uncle could still kill the heir. But it's just like and you never know if he actually wants it or not. But it was in cuz he's like they first are throwing it in her face.
And so she's like no, you know, I didn't steal this. I didn't take this. And so now it's either it's treason or this.
And so she's brought before the king during this trial. And what's so interesting is that >> everything she says is what happened.
>> I know >> she did say she didn't want it. She did say don't give this to me.
>> But all you have to do is like, well, he he tried to give it to me and I said I didn't want it. Or he tried to give it to me and I said I didn't want it. And just the way that you just express those things.
>> Yeah.
>> The way they're the way you're telling the truth. Yeah.
>> And then he just kind of like you don't have to >> I know because basically what they're trying to get her to do is say that he also assaulted her.
>> Like that's what he's trying to say. And then she's like >> he was thrown down the well was pregnant.
>> Yeah. Right. So basically she and I think this is where Tanim has so much guilt and this is why she does not want to pursue anything in this new life because she technically >> did throw him under the bus, right?
>> She had no choice. I mean I think she like had no power and Telmundo was like puppeteering everything. But she did because I mean that scene where there he's looking at her and he's like you can just stop. like it it is soing heartbreaking and they had it's no one's fault. So now I'm curious to see how she becomes Kangi Bean, how she becomes a concubine and that's my question because I was thinking the whole time but wait a minute >> and I'm watching and I'm tracking it and I'm tracking it and I'm tracking it.
It's like well hold on how did she get to this status?
>> Is this her reward for >> I think so. I think which which honestly I feel like would be a dagger in the heart of >> the grand prince because it's either because what's pro also awful is that >> Telmundo as the crown prince is probably going to kill him anyway. I know. I mean, yeah, there's there's no way of him getting out of it >> even if he gets exiled because the number of show think about the number of people who got exiled and then while they were in exiled >> still got assassinated.
>> Yeah.
>> Like you're in some thatch roof on Jedju Island >> behind that >> because it's like have you seen when people are exiled on Jedju? It's not only are you in that little house but they put poisonous hedges around your house.
>> I know. I know. So, you can't even jump through the bushes and then there's guards there.
>> I know. So, >> what I think is interesting is that I think obviously we're going to know more about the backstory, but I think my gut says I think Tanim um I think there's more that happens to the Grand Prince where it's not it's not even bad as just her like betraying him.
I think there's more because >> Sega's reaction in the when he has the dream and he gets up. It's almost like >> he he knows he was I think there's more to them more than betrayal that happened because he wakes up almost thinking as if she's the enemy. That's why he runs in his PJs. He's just like and he goes over and he confronts her >> and who are you?
>> Who are you? So, I think it's going to be really interesting to see how that plays out. But now we kind of understand why Timi has this immense guilt and why she's like I am really like I really don't want to open up. But then when she tries to then you know we can kind of go back to the beginning of the episode because this is a lot of fun too but um >> her oh this is at the end right uh at the the press conference. So she >> basically decides that she is going to defend him and like pursue him as well, right? Return the love. That press conference her the way she spun that so quickly so good. Basically she tells like she tells everyone she's like, "Hey, he wasn't drunk. We got these rocks. We had to drop it off.
He's gonna donate money >> cuz some have signs.
>> I'm already betro. I have a beloved. So, we're not we're not even here.
>> He's got a nice face. He's very handsome. But some parks do have rocks do have signs. It's like don't even take a rock out of here. I know.
>> Don't reserve.
>> Yeah. With the national park, if you do it, you get fined. You cannot do anything.
>> Don't you take one lava rock up out this [ __ ] We need We counting rocks in this place. How very dare you. You better knock the sand off your shoes before you walk out of here. But and I and it was great that she was able to spin the whole thing because what I think um what Babyface Murphy doesn't know is that she actually, and I love this phrase, put a battery in Sod's back >> because she was like, "You can't help him. You can't do anything for him." And then she sees all these allegations and she's like, >> "I can help him because I was there and I was the one getting in the car and he wasn't drunk. He was drinking water. I saw him do it.
>> And so, not only that, we were, "Well, why were y'all at this beach late at night? We were taking these tiny rocks back." And in fact, I still need to take this tiny rock back. I'mma go back and take it right now. Y and then and then she was like, "And half of the money?"
And even I was like, "Half the money?"
>> He was like, "Do you know how much that is?" And yeah, he was kind of annoyed, but um >> but he's going to make even more money.
And because the stock price went back up like it's she >> she came through she pulled up in your apartment sitting on 20 somethings and very much helped the situation because I it wasn't tenable. It wasn't something that he was going to be able to get out of without her help at all. He was screwed.
>> He was screwed. And she's smart. And I love the way she like takes him to dinner. She buys him dinner which I was like, you know what, listen to we talked about it. She is a feminist. She knows she gots the money.
>> I'm not to >> Uhhuh.
>> He was like was like I'm not accustomed to woman a woman paying. But in that moment I think it made >> perfect sense for her to pay. I think she needed to pay. I think it was a fun little flex for her >> and was just like not only did I save you, but I also bought you dinner, baby boo. Like it's get into it. You're welcome. I absolutely love that she bought him dinner.
>> Yeah. And then afterwards, he's like, "Hey, we should go for round two. Do you want to come over? Should we eat ramen?"
You know what that means in Korea?
>> If you want if you want to come for a little night cap, it's like, "Do you want to come over?" It's basically like, "Do you want to hook up?" But you say, "Do you want to?"
>> And that's what she was. She knows she knows modern times. She loves YouTube shorts. She talks about it. She's like, "I've been reading." She's like, "I'm more into YouTube shorts than newspapers now." So, she knows like what the modern things are. And she freaks out. And then I love this. He was just like, "Wait, what did you think?" He like takes her to what is it? By the hung and they're eating actual ramen. He's like, "What did you think? Did you want something else?" And then he like giggles and I was like, "Ah, it's so cute."
>> But also, I was like, when they're sitting there with their ramen, I was just like And then she was almost like disappointed. She was like, "Gh, >> I know." Because she I know. And that's why he >> she didn't want to go get the ramen. But then also when they when he said that, I was like, "Y'all just ate." I know. How are you eating again? Y'all just ate.
Y'all had all that soup. You got all those red specks on that outfit and now you're going to eat more ramen and get more eat some ramen. Get more red specks. Like how are y'all eat? Y'all just ate.
>> I know. Oh, and then you just want to keep spitting time with her. I know. And that random scene with the go up to the mermaid. I was like, what the mermaid statue? The way she is praying because he's like, "Hey, you rub the nose." And the way she's praying like as if she's the stoniest mermaid I've ever seen.
Like they had the back view of her. I'm like this isn't a voluuptuous woman. I was like what is it? I like why am I looking at her spine? Oh my god. I saw this thing on a Tik Tok. It kind of made me kind of sad. There is a bronze statue of this woman. I think it's like in England, right? And it's like it's a way to like honor like uh women who you know women who have always worked, right?
Because we always talk about like you know women's >> like feminism and women getting the right to work but it's just like it's a statue of this like uh working woman but she's like in this like booier outfit because it's like like is a tribute to women in the past >> and so there's like a slight bosom heaving >> and you know on like those bronze statues you'll see where it's shiny at >> and so the places where she's the sh it's like there's a dog statue where the nose is shiny cuz people all touch the nose and the breasts on her >> are very shiny. Oh god, people need to stop. And so it was so and I saw this thing and I don't and I just started crying because this woman comes up to the statue. Oh my god, I could cry. This woman comes up to the statue and goes, I'm sorry >> that you go through this.
>> And I was like, oh my god, that's not where I thought the story was going to go because I was like, >> so the apparently this is the issue with statues of women is that people are inappropriate.
>> What's wrong with men? What is wrong with men? And this girl comes up and honestly, oh god.
>> Okay. Okay. I got so because I just thinking about it because it's like you'll cuz I mean she's got titties on her like I see the campaign and so and then but the only place on her it's her hand that's but the shiniest part is the breast on the statue and this girl comes up and she just and it like and it'd be different if she just walked up and was just like for a second. But like at one point uh there was another statue like that in France and they had to take the statue down because people kept being inappropriate with this statue. They had to take the statue down and then this one I think they had to rework her.
>> It was crazy. But she look but in this video cuz that's why I got so like worked up about it because she like just stands there for a moment with this statue >> and I was like looking at her. I was like oh my god. And so this is crazy.
So, like the fact that it was only the nose, people were rubbing on this mermaid statue.
>> Thank God. Thank God.
>> Even though the boobs were out, I was like it because but the way she comes up and she's rubbing her hands going like this >> and then she's because she's not just rubbing the ends of the nose. She's rubbing the whole brain.
>> She's rubbing. She's like, "I need to pedo." Oh, and this is a good transition because, you know, she's doing all of this and then you know that scene with the mudang where she she literally reports the the the embezzling mudang aim. That was I was screaming because they had paparazzi. They're like chasing after her because of the the the scandal or whatever. And then she pops up and she's like, "Hey, actually I'm on the case too. Check out this lady. She's been embezzling." It's so funny. And not only that, all of her attendance because she really thought when cuz when them girls came out, I looked up I was like them some big old girls >> them a sturdy that's a what's it uh what did Tom Hal >> that's a sturdy woman >> but I did notice the dark under the eyes and I was like what's going on with this cuz they kind of came out looking like zombies and I was like okay and she went to flip that girl and that girl did not budge. I said they are in trouble. This going to be an issue. But then they get the rice out their hair and she reads the rice and she's like, "Oh, wait. Bad omen." And so she's like, "I was just trying to get your money.
>> You're doomed." And even the rice said it. And so the first time the Mulong did it, the uh the fairy, she did it. But then but the fairy was like, "Y'all are doomed, but you do have a chance."
>> Yeah. And oh my god, figure it out.
>> But she was just trying to sell her talisman cuz she opened that desk. She's like, "Are you really trying to sell me a talisman right now?" And she was like, "What? What do you mean?" Because that lady clocked she was a fake and clock that she was able to like see right through the nonsense. And so I love So not only did she help him >> Yeah. But she helped her home girl.
>> I know. Her bulldog home girl. It was very sweet and >> and took down the took down the the jet fairy.
>> The Yeah. The embezzling lady.
>> The embezzling uh fairy uh was stealing from people. And she was like, "Yeah, I remember being at court and one of the doctors got an opium addiction and that's what he looked like." And she's like, "And I'll never forget it." And I was like, "What a deep cut." Like, it's that's I was talking about that podcast earlier. He's like, "Well, it's like, don't he's like, "Don't you see the tropes coming?" I said, "Yeah, you know the tropes are there, >> but what's wrapped around the tropes?
The story line where the tropes get?"
He's like, "I don't you don't see the tropes coming." Because the story goes, "What do you mean? and she's about to take down a mudong for her home girl, but it's actually going to take because when uh Babyface Murphy released that press release talking about like, oh well, you know, she tried to uh you know, she tried to seduce the head of, you know, her own um the home head of her talent agency and the head of the corporation and then but her grandma about to fight the lady and oh the because they're watching that drama. the grandma's and the other grandma's like, "Oh, she's good." She's like, "Oh, she looks like a yush." Like, "She looks like a minkx." You know that she had this sinister face and she's like, "No, she doesn't." No, she doesn't. And she walks in about her grandma. She's like, cuz her grandma's like, "I'll cut you.
See if I can't cut you. I will cut you.
Come over here." And she's like, "You come over here." It's like, "You come over here." Can I tell you, there's this guy I used to be friends with. We used to play this game at his house called guess the arrest. Because in you know how Florida all of their uh arrest records are everywhere is public record but Florida are just more open. So you could go online and so >> Florida's wild we think I think but I we did a thing about this on Daily Show.
Florida seems more wild because all of their arrest records are open and you just get access to more wild stuff. And so basically this gave guest the arrest.
There was different categories for the people that they had arrested by like age, by weight, by uh by crime or whatever. And so there was a category called over 65. And most of the people who were over 65 were getting charged for assaulting somebody who was also over 65. Like that was that entire category. It was either shoplifting or assault on someone because it's a different charge.
>> Over 65. So apparently you hit a certain age and you're like I ain't afraid to go to jail. This >> old you're like you know what? I've lived my life. Let's go.
>> So funny. I saw lady, it was a couple, it was two, one of them was 83 and the other one was like 87 and they were like and you could tell they had gotten in a full-on fight and and it's like honestly if oxygenarians are still throwing hands. I don't know what they're I don't know what the waties are they got, but I want to know that in my 80s I can still throw hands. Now, if it's another 80-year-old, you know, that makes more sense. But yeah, it's uh they were ready to go and I get it. It's like I don't know how much longer I have on the earth, but I know I'm about to whoop your ass before I get up out of here.
Um, but again, grandma was like, "Move forward. Move forward." You know, do what you do for you. Don't worry about me. It always makes me so sad when grandma's like, "Don't worry." She's like, "I could never provide for you. I could." But it's like, but grandma would show up all the time bringing her food.
Grandma had a whole restaurant. Himoney was taking care of her.
>> High money did a lot. So, um I think we hit most of it, but it's um well, the dream I it was I'm glad cuz like episode 8 cuz it's like what 14 episodes?
>> Yeah. 14.
>> Mhm.
>> So, this is the perfect time for him to find out >> Yeah.
>> who she is.
>> But also, >> it's going to be a conversation because now he's going to figure out who he was.
>> Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I think he's already kind of figured it out. I think he like I feel like he's had a full on like he's like he he sees the mask and everything.
So, >> I think what is going to happen is >> Yeah. What's your prediction for this?
Because this is because this is >> what But I think like a further but I think this is a good time for our huge misunderstanding because he's been so in love. So in love, so in love. So in love.
>> Yeah. And now there needs to be a little bit of the wrench drone, you know.
>> Mhm. Mhm.
>> This is this is the time for him to be like, "Well, I don't know about this."
And she's like, "What?" Cuz now she's finally come to Yeah, let's be together.
And now it's his turn to be like, >> "Nuhuh."
>> Yeah. But, you know, it was interesting because I thought that and I was actually kind of hoping for this conflict. So, I was like, "Oh, great.
Now he's going to push her away and he's going to be sus. He's like suspicious of her." But then in the preview, it seems like they're back together again or like everything's fine. So, I don't know what happens. I really cannot tell you what I think is going to happen in this drama because like like you said like there are a lot of the common tropes. Yes. But they're doing it in such a fresh different way where I'm just kind of like I don't know like >> I don't know.
>> Um I I I really don't know. So we'll see what the significance is of him realizing it's her in the dream. I hope I mean I if anything I want her to tell him about Telmundo in the comment uh in the in the present time to tell him about Telmundo approaching because he tells he approaches her and he's like hey you have you know you have like you know two days to like figure or like two weeks to figure this out >> because now I know about cuz now he's threatening grandma and grandma you need to split them up but I'm just like >> it's like >> he doesn't like her anyway so what are we splitting up here bro like >> what are we splitting up here and so it was just like But she doesn't know because the last conversation they had, he's like, "Well, she's a bit of a fiance, but I'm trying to figure it out."
>> Yeah.
>> So, it's like he's still trying to figure out this thing. Telmundo doesn't even know that he doesn't like her, >> which also lets me know that like >> his aid is very loyal to him because Telmundo doesn't have all of the intel.
But that also lets me know that Telmundo is not good at the intel because his aid should also be betraying him. There should be someone closer to him who should be like that lady Miss Kim in the office.
>> She should have some type of information, but it's just it's just him and the aid. So, I don't I really don't like how this is going because >> Telmundo is not making any sense.
>> I think they need to work out the the villains a little bit more. And yes, >> even the even the like even the the plot in the Chosan era of like them accusing him of being like impregnating another court lady, killing her. That was like I mean it's pretty it's pretty like muk jang. It's pretty like out there. But um >> but also gives a [ __ ] >> Yeah. Yeah. Why does it matter impregnated a court later? This doesn't this has never been a problem.
>> So anyh who, we'll see. Yeah. So, um, we'll be back next week to talk about 9 and 10. So, we have three weeks of this left, which is crazy. Um, we're going to be back on Wednesday, though, to do our normal chase of the glory, and it's going to be episode 6, which I'm editing now. It's great. You know what?
