Child trafficking victims often face systemic injustice in the legal system, where they may be punished for self-defense actions taken to survive exploitation, despite public outrage and evidence of their victim status. This case demonstrates how flawed legal processes can fail to protect vulnerable individuals and may even punish those who have suffered the most, highlighting the need for reform in how trafficking cases are handled.

Update on Pieper Lewis, Trafficking, and now 20 year prison sentence!! We will fight for justice.Added:
Welcome back to Intentionally Disturbing with Dr. Leslie, forensic psychologist.
I wanted to jump on here and give you guys an update about Piper Lewis. Now, I'm going to have to censor some of my words on here, but I will try and get the major points across. So, as you know, I've been speaking to Piper and we have as a team helped this girl and we will continue to fight, but let me give you a bit of a rundown. So, Piper was born in Iowa. She is a beautiful young black girl and her life experience has been absolutely horrifying because of adults taking advantage in a sexual trafficking way of children, young girls, teens all the way into her adulthood. So Piper was born in 2004.
She basically had a really shitty upbringing and she ran away and she fell into the hands of a pimp who began to traffic her. Not even for money. The guy was doing it for marijuana. She just messaged me right now. We'll check that in a second. Piper took the life of a man named Zachary Brooks who bought her, who purchased her, who in a span of weeks repeatedly said her to the point where she thought her life was going to end. Blacking out, like she was going to strangle her to the point of not being alive. So, she protected herself. She was 15 years old and she stabbed him repeatedly until he would stop. Bummer.
He's no longer with us. So, she was initially charged with firstdegree murder. A child, a victim of sexual trafficking, and she's charged with firstdegree MR. Of course, there was public outrage then and there is public outrage now. But what happened then?
Because of the public outrage, they said that she was a victim of child trafficking and that this was not her fault. So, she pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and willful injury. I don't even I mean, she didn't even know what she was pleading to at the time, if you can imagine her mindset and all of the trauma that she endured.
So, in September of 2022, she received 5 years a deferred sentence. So basically that means you're going to be in trouble if you break your probation. You're going to get the sentence you would have gotten. It also means that she could have gotten her record expuned had she had any money. Oh, she didn't have any money. It's weird though because there was a GoFundMe started by a teacher who said he knew her well, but he didn't know her well. His name was Leland Shipper. He raised almost $600,000.
She didn't get any of it. Yet, the judge ordered her to pay $150,000 to the trafficker's wife. During the trial, the attorneys were hugging the wife. There were close to 15,000 donations made into that GoFundMe. And where are they, Leland? Why, when I started posting about this and this started going viral, why did you change your name? Why did you change the other GoFundMes that you have for other students and for animals and your wife has a bunch too? Every time this case starts to get high up in the media, you also stop posting on all of your socials. So Piper gets sent to a continuation kind of correctional juvenile school where she is continuing to get abused. She is also forced to wear an ankle monitor. So she flees and she cuts off the ankle monitor because she's being essayed where she is being forced to stay and she doesn't know what to do. So then we have 2023 where she gets re-sentenced again. Pulk County Judge David Porter, the same judge we will talk about at the end of this video. He says to Piper, "I indicated to you last year you've asked for a second chance. You don't get a third. I stand by that. There are consequences for your actions. For her actions, David Porter.
For her actions. H being essay after being essay after being said. So she was referred to some kind of Georgia facility that specializes in some sexual trafficking. And then guess what happens? She's abused again. So in 2024, as I would too, she takes off.
Apparently, she was violating the house rules because she was being harmed by people in there. So, then she's gone, right? She's gone for a solid year until I found her and she decided to turn herself back in because we thought that maybe, I don't know, a victim, a survivor of so much abuse, maybe the judge would would have a [ __ ] heart.
So December 19, 2025, she turns herself back in and she's just sitting in jail.
Nothing is happening for a long time.
That's when I started to really get wind of this case. That's when I started to open a GoFundMe. I got investigators. I started consulting with lawyers to figure out what the [ __ ] we could do for Piper. She even told Judge Porter once again that she was proud of her decision to turn herself back in. You guys have probably never seen Piper talk, but she's sweet and she's wonderful. And it I cannot believe that she sat before that judge over years. He knows her. He did not give a [ __ ] So the state was asking for 180 days, something like that. A little bit of punishment, maybe teach her a consequence to follow rules.
Yeah, adults follow rules. Why the [ __ ] would she? I This is so twisted. And then the judge overrules the state and gives her 20 years in prison. She begged the judge that she could go free, that she would get probation. She didn't object to jail, but she said that prison would set her back. And of course, it will. So, how does this [ __ ] judge reply? I don't think it's an understatement to say that I was cheering for your success, Piper, but I'm imposing the maximum sentence anyway. Oh, but she'll receive credit for time served. Should we give her her life back when she was trafficked at 15?
Because maybe that's all the time served already because she'll never have the life she could have had had this never happened to her had adults not taken advantage of her had no one protected her. So, as it stands today, we don't know what's going to happen. And it is horrifying. Basically, she's still in jail. She's probably going to be moved to a female prison in Iowa. I'm still in contact with her. A lot of you guys have sent her letters and she is so happy.
She's so happy to know that people care about her, that people want her to succeed, that the world is fighting for her, but this is not over. We don't know where the GoFundMe money is. We don't know what's going to happen with her case. We don't know if there's going to be an appeal. There could be a ton of civil litigation as well because so many people hurt her. So many authorities, so many institutions, people knew things were going on and they didn't stop it.
All the way to Judge David Porter, who where's the money? Where's the Leland GoFundMe? Judge Porter, are you not seeing the layers of harm and corruption involved? Wait, maybe that's it. Maybe it's layers of harm and corruption and maybe you're a part of it and you need to speak to it. So, as it stands right now, you guys, I want you to stick around on my YouTube. I'm going to keep giving you updates here. I opened a community page where we can talk about this. I need ideas. I need guidance. I'm talking to a lot of lawyers. I'm trying to talk to her lawyers. I will do anything to help this girl because this story is horrifying. I also would like to hold all of these people accountable who have taken advantage of her. So, what's happening right now is we're gathering resources. I am going to help find a place for her dog, keep money on her books. You are welcome to message me and we will as a team make sure that we help this young woman who's very childlike because she hasn't had a second to grow up. I also hope that this brings awareness to what trafficking does. Now, I want you to remember trafficking can be selling your child for an hour. Trafficking can be someone taking a child or a teenager, a young adult, and never returning them.
Trafficking can be grooming somebody to the point where they think they're doing it by choice, but you've actually manipulated them into doing this act. We need more awareness around this. We need to start by h helping Piper. We need to just keep fighting. We need to keep fighting. If you have any personal details about this judge, about this town, about these schools, Poke County, Iowa, send it my way because something is not [ __ ] right here. And we will continue to fight and donate to the GoFundMe. I will hold the funds for her.
I'm not this other [ __ ] who didn't give the money to her who we will figure this out. Don't worry. Mark my word. I will see you next time on another episode of Intentionally Disturbing where we are going to go back into the mind of monsters. But we've got to break things up with active cases. We will be talking also about the case down north of me in Ventura. The father who turned himself in for graing his biological daughter and hasn't been sentenced yet.
Sentencing is on June 23rd. I also want to update you on the old man that was videotaping and filming a teenage girl repeatedly down in San Diego. We don't have updates on that quite yet. Updates for the public, I mean, but there's a lot going on. So, as we talk about the minds of predators and understand and make ourselves stronger so that we are not seen as prey, we're going to have to dribble in drip in some of these really important cases that are active. And the reason that this matters so much is because social media pressure changes things rapidly. People are up for reelection. People don't want to lose their jobs. People don't want the whole community to [ __ ] hate them. Social media pressure, when things go viral, it [ __ ] matters. So when you watch, when you subscribe, when you forward to people, send the videos to people on any platform, when more people are aware and the analytics rise, these platforms push the videos out further, more people see.
And then, you know, what I tend to do is pay money to boost some videos straight to the cities and the towns that these [ __ ] live in so they know who their neighbors are. Anyways, that's my rant for today and that's my Piper Lewis update. I will talk to you guys soon.
Thanks for watching another episode of Intentionally Disturbing with Dr. Leslie, forensic psychologist and a bit unhinged.
