[00:00:01]This is great news for the Giants. We all know the Giants had a really exciting draft. They've moved into the rookie mini-camp as well as voluntary OTAs, and OTAs as a whole. And with that comes other news as far as how this team is going to be shaped and put together.

So, if you guys haven't been following what's been going on at OTAs, one of the things that has been going on at OTAs is the fact that the rookies, some of the rookies anyway, have not signed their rookie deals, right? Now, Francis Mauigoa did eventually sign his rookie deal, but one of those deals that wasn't picked up or signed was Ar'vell Reese's, and it seems that there has been a path towards it. Now, to learn a little bit more about what that path is, let's go ahead and get into it directly. And we're going to go ahead and look at none other than Adam Schefter. Adam Schefter had this to report. He said Giants left tackle Andrew Thomas restructured his contract Wednesday, creating 6.46 million of added salary cap space for the team this year. Thomas converted his base salary to a roster bonus to make the space. Now, some of y'all might look at that and say, "Well, hey Rich, what does that exactly mean for the team?

[00:01:48]You're talking about Ar'vell Reese getting a deal. How is that going to be the case with Andrew Thomas is this? And what does it mean for Andrew Thomas?

[00:01:57]Well, for more on this, let's go ahead and look at Art Stapleton who covers the team for nj.com who have this to say regarding the matter. He said, "This is a common restructure built into contracts that is essentially a team option. AT gets the money now as a bonus rather than waiting until the season. And by converting to the bonus, the team can spread the cap hit out.

[00:02:23]From a player's perspective, thanks for the money now. Now, Art did add a little bit to this. And what he did say when adding to this was the fact that in in salary cap math, it's more of a conversion in Andrew Thomas's contract turning base salary into bonus to push a portion of the money forward lessening the hit this season. Semantics, yes, but it's why restructure is somewhat of a misnomer when used for this and say a pay cut, right? So, Andrew Thomas isn't somebody who's really taking a pay cut in all of this, right? He did this restructure.

[00:03:06]It's not taking any money away from him.

[00:03:08]It's going to allow him to get the deal that he or get the money straight up. Um and it just works good for all sides involved, right? Andrew Thomas being able to get the money and then the Giants being able to do what they want in this and sign the court sign the rookie that they brought in to really help things out and make it better. So, when you look at this, Joe Schoen is the one that we're looking at for everything involved here.

[00:03:38]Um he's been pretty good with this with this stuff from what we've seen the last few seasons since he's been here when it comes to managing the cap and just really bringing the Giants out of the Stone Age. You know, a lot of people look at Joe Shane and what's going on there and they're just like, "Hey, you know, he's not great at his job.

[00:03:57]Look at Look at what they got so far."

[00:03:58]But, John Harbaugh and this new regime do feel like Joe Shane is good enough for him to stay around. Obviously, the power dynamic's different, but this is one of the reasons why Joe Shane was kept in place to be able to make moves like this that are going to benefit the Giants, right? They didn't have the cap to have all their rookies sign the deals. So, having one of your best uh offensive lineman in Andrew Thomas come in and do that for you, definitely helps that out a ton. So, that's awesome to see. Like I said, works out for all parties involved, but it doesn't just end there with Andrew Thomas creating a pathway for Ar'vell Reese to get his deal done.

[00:04:45]Let's go ahead and look at what Art Stapleton actually had to say regarding this.

[00:04:51]Not so far as today. So, according to Art Stapleton, Giants linebacker Ar'vell Reese, the number five overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft has signed his four-year fully guaranteed rookie deal worth about 47.831 million dollars, including a signing bonus of 31.2 million plus a fifth-year team option per sources. So, works out pretty good for Ar'vell Reese according to Art Stapleton here, right?

[00:05:27]I think that the Giants couldn't handle this any better, right?

[00:05:31]Win-win situation for the organization as well as Andrew Thomas being able to get his money, converted in a certain way, helps out with the cap.

[00:05:39]And now we've got no more talk about your fifth overall pick signing his rookie deal or not, right? I think that was something that we hadn't discussed a ton of, but it was something that was a big focus because we all had to be worried about it, right? You don't want any types of situations, especially nowadays, where your top rookie standout is starting the season not playing because he didn't get his deal done or missing more of camp, even though granted he has been in camp, but as we get closer to training camp, you don't want any issues going on there. So, love to see it. I think that that helps out the Giants a ton and just pretty much take takes it it takes a lot of pressure off the Giants with what it is that they're trying to do with this regime and with this team, right? There's a lot of things going on with the New York Giants, distractions and what not. This is just one of those that even though we haven't talked about it a ton, could have turned into a distraction that was quickly avoided and I think it really just shows where this team is headed. Making smart decisions and what not. I'm really excited for the season because of stuff like that. [00:07:09]And what I'm looking at is two things for the New York Yankees. I'm looking at Jazz Chisholm and his total bases. I'm also looking at Ryan Weathers and his K's. So, I'm going to go more for both.

[00:07:22]And I'm going more on Jazz Chisholm's total bases.

[00:07:26]Jazz Chisholm's the best athlete on the New York Yankees right now. He's been playing very well as of late. It's a contract year for him and typically what you see in contract years is guys play up and above what what their card says, right? Not that Jazz Chisholm hasn't been a a bad player or anything like that for the New York Yankees. He was on the cover of the show at one point in his career. But, against a team like the Oakland Athletics, they're they're not even in Oakland anymore, but against a team like the Athletics, expect Jazz to do his thing. That's why I'm going more on the total basis. Ryan Weathers has had a very very solid season for the New York Yankees. I expect that to continue. Saw what the New York Yankees did on Friday against the Athletics. I think Ryan Weathers will have a very fine night against this team and the rotation that they're putting out against them in that batting order. So, they've got him at five at five and a half Ks. I'm going to go more on that just because of where things are at with the Athletics.
