Nintendo Patent Defeated by 13 Year Old Game, RPCS3 System Requirements, Xbox Ad Supported Gaming
Added:Hey everyone, Mr. Sugjano here, your source for gaming, tech, emulation, open source news, and reviews. Let's get started.
All right, to kick things off, we're talking about Super Nintendo emulation with Super SNES 9X. And if you're familiar with the uh Super Famicom box, you might be really excited about this update. As of version 1.63.26, 26.
They've introduced full emulation of the Super Famicom box, the coin operated hotel unit. They say here it boots the real KROM 1.0 BIOS, reaches the attraction menu, and launches games verified with Super Mario Kart, Super Donkey Kong, Star Fox, and even more here. And there's also even more improvements and fixes. And speaking about new stuff and fixes, next up we're talking about PlayStation 2 emulation with RMSX2 because why wouldn't we be?
RMSX2 got a brand new update at the time of filming. Version 2.6.4.9 is the latest and greatest. Taking a look here, there's new menu background colors, new menu sound effects, launch rotation settings. This one's interesting. Half screen touchs option.
A whole left right screen halfaxis that analog stick. uh quick save, quick load, touch buttons, and even more stuff. And speaking about even more stuff, next up, we're talking about Nintendo DS emulation on Android with Melon DS Android. Well, a fork of Melon DS Android designed for dual screen devices. Sapphire Rod Knight is added again here with release version 0.7.0 release candidate 5. It is a pre-release, so there may be bugs and issues, but at the same time here, this is pretty exciting. So, first and foremost, they say the next release will be watermelon DS. And this release focused on retro achievement stability, hardcore achievement reliability, leaderboards, and new offline achievement provider options. They go on to say here, this will also be the last release using the current Melon DS name.
The next release will introduce a new interface, a new icon, and a new experimental Vulcan feature called Fast Path. Fastpath is designed to significantly improve performance at high internal resolutions, even up to eight times in some cases. However, Fast Path will be experimental, and if you want the most stable and accurate experience closer to the real Nintendo DS behavior, it's recommended to keep FastPath disabled. Anyways, here this is super exciting overall. If you are interested and wanted to learn more about it, like everything we talk about, links are within that GitHub link in the bottom of the description below. I don't hide my sources. Next up, we're switching over to Microsoft and talking about something that may generate a little bit of discussion, and I'm really curious to hear your opinions about it.
Listen to this headline up on The Verge.
Microsoft is testing free adup supported cloud gaming for Xbox insiders. The free streaming option is still in testing and limited to 1hour sessions for select games. So, based on my understanding here, if someone wanted to use this free service, well, currently it's in testing, but if someone wanted to test it out, you have to watch an ad and then you're limited to a 1-hour session based on a game you already own. That's the uh select games portion. Let me know your thoughts on this one. I'm really curious to hear your feedback and whether or not you'd be interested in free cloud gaming for an hour with uh games you already own. And speaking about uh opinions on things, next up we're talking about the Japanese patent office and maybe some opinions they had about Nintendo and maybe Nintendo not being happy. So, there's a really interesting article up on Games Radar I do recommend checking out. Listen to their headline. The Japanese patent office has officially had enough of Nintendo rejecting a patent attached to the Power World lawsuit with rarelyseen SAS. Now, I think this is pretty obvious and I don't even think I need to point it out, but uh whatever. I'm not a lawyer. This is not legal advice. I'm simply a guy reading the news and uh giving you my opinion on it. Uh anyways, here based on my understanding, the whole monster capturing patent is under question, and I believe the patent office cited uh this game right here as busting the patent, which is an unofficial 3D indie Pokemon game from like 13 years ago. And um holy smokes, who would have thought an indie game like this is uh something that would defeat Nintendo. I mean, taking a look at the comments and this person here says, "Proof that it's always worth not taking down your old videos. You saved the entire industry.
Aged like the finest of wines. Uh the butterfly effect and action and even more. Bro actually defeated Nintendo.
Pocket pair owes you some effing royalties. Uh and that is all because of this video right here. Pokemon Generations 3D indie Pokemon gameplay.
Now, it appears that Nintendo was not happy with that at all and they've shot back saying that the office acted extremely inappropriately by citing a copyright infringing game like Pokémon Generations. However, the uh office shot back that it didn't really matter. At least that's the way I'm reading it here. Check out the article. So, there's still a whole lot of back and forth and I'm very curious to see what happens.
Um, Nintendo seems to be fighting as hard as they can here. And the Japanese patent office doesn't really seem to be in alignment with Nintendo. We'll have to wait to see for the final outcome.
And speaking about news, that's right up my alley. And who knows, maybe it's up yours. Next up, we're talking about 007 First Light. And it's being reported here and actually confirmed that Denuvo has been removed from First Light only a couple months after release. So, taking a look up here on Steam DB and I can see Denuvo has been removed. Now, I could be wrong about this one, but the last time we talked about 007, I think was when there were reports of this game uh having Denuvo being cracked. Uh anyways, here this game up on Steam has a very positive overall review score. It's very popular, and I'm guessing without Denuvo, even more people will be interested in picking it up. Next up, we're shifting from software to hardware here and talking about an upcoming handheld from Magic X. Uh, so we talked about this one in a previous video and well, looks interesting overall and it seems now we know a little bit more about this upcoming handheld. So, this new device will be called the Magic X Mini Dream and we'll talk about that in just a second. As a whole for an entire company, Magic X made this announcement as well. New direction, new challenge.
We're taking an important step forward, holding ourselves to a higher standard for quality and detail. Starting with our next device, which is the Mini Dream. They'll focus on stricter quality control, more reliable supply chain and components, more refined shell craftsmanship and details, and more polished system tuning and optimization.
Now, taking a look at this Mini Dream, it'll have a 3.3 in OLED display, full glass front cover, available in both Linux and Android versions, and a uh massive price range. Uh $80 to $180.
I'm guessing there's going to be a few different variants. Now, unfortunately, I don't know the final price on this.
They haven't locked it down yet. I don't know the final release date, and uh we're going to know more soon. and Magic X. I'm very curious to see what happens moving forward with them because these are big words for this company. And speaking about upcoming handhelds, next up we're talking about Io and their Conquer Pocket Advance. Unfortunately, I still don't know what's powering this thing, but they're saying it's going to be a handheld Icon Fully Awakened. Large L1 R1 shoulder buttons designed for a natural fingertip fit. Separated L2 and R2 shoulder buttons. And taking a look, we well, we've got a little bit better of a view here. Well, it doesn't look that great on screen. Let me just change that for you so you can hopefully see it a bit better. Uh, how about that? Uh, anyways, here, uh, it looks just like a Game Boy Advance. I'm really curious to see though what is powering it. And that's really what I'm most interested in right now. Well, that and the price.
Um, looks really cool. Three things.
Three things overall. Uh, what is powering this thing? the overall price and how many units they're going to make. Hopefully more than just 100 or something. Uh, anyways, I'm I'm really curious about this one. I like the design overall, but at the same time here, I mean, a lot of us are looking for more detail. I mean, even Ban says right here, uh, let me I should probably just cut this and do it smoother, but whatever. We'll do a live. So, anyways, here this is what B says the comments are right so far. People don't want the drip of the outer edges of an obviously Game Boy Advance shaped handheld. They want to know it. They just want to know what's powering it and how much it costs because for most people that buy it, it'll just be another GBA machine. Let me know your thoughts. And speaking about unconfirmed stuff, next up we're switching to Nintendo here and talking about The Legend of Zelda Ocarine of Time remake and hardware associated with that remake. There's a new rumor out here right now that uh there's going to be a Zelda themed Pro Controller released for the Ocarine of Time, but not a Zelda themed Switch 2. We're going to have to wait to see on that. I wouldn't be surprised. Maybe some themed Joy-Cons and a Switch 2 Pro controller.
We'll have to wait and see. And speaking about upcoming controllers, maybe. Uh next up, we're talking about the PS6 and a patent. Uh it's worth pointing out here, just because something was patented doesn't necessarily mean it's going to make it into production. But uh this website which in my opinion is super noisy and I don't really like the looks of. Anyways, they've noticed a brand new Sony patent here and uh it appears that Sony is redesigning the joysticks and they're kind of like TMR joysticks and they might be in the PS6 controller. We're going to have to wait to see here, but Stick Drift is hopefully eliminated in the next generation of console. Next up, we're switching over to Microsoft and uh well, talking about something definitely up my alley and maybe it's up yours. Let me know here. Uh this one puts a smile on my face. So, the other day we talked about Microsoft and their big announcement of making Xbox games compatible on PC again, and it's all done via emulation. I mean, it's an Xbox emulator from an Xbox 360 emulator. Uh anyways, people have taken a look at this and made some very interesting conclusions and very interesting progress. So listen to this. This is from X1. Uh by combining Microsoft's recently released PC port of XEO3 with specific components of X1 Slim Era, namely it becomes possible to run dumps backwards compatible Xbox 360 and Xbox original games before they see an official PC release with varying degrees of success. Now, realistically here, Senia might be the easier way to go, but at the same time, I find this stuff fascinating, and someone points out here, this one's interesting. That's wild on some good stuff. So, technically, you can run 360 games natively on PC.
I wouldn't go that far. I'd say it's still emulation, but at the same time, uh I mean, Microsoft's tool here, it seems the doors have been blown wide open. And speaking about um older games running on PC, next up here we're talking about Crash Bandicoot Launcher.
Uh taking a look, this project is up on GitHub and they say this repository contains tools and a Windows launcher that work with a copy of Crash Bandicoot you already own. And it appears that version 1.0 has just dropped. Crash Bandicoot Recompiled. It appears this tool is for Windows. It's 100% free.
It's open source. And if you are interested in learning more about it, you know where the links are. And speaking about learning more about stuff, next up we're talking about PlayStation 3 emulation with RPCS3. And this is more of just a friendly heads up PSA kind of announcement. So RPCS3 posted this one to their Twitter account and they say here there's a lot of misinformation going on around RPCS3's minimum requirements as very few actually read them. Did you know that RPCS3 games can run on PCs with any x64 CPU and GPUs from two decades ago using only 8 GB of RAM? I believe we talked about additional capability with RPCS3 very recently. But if you are curious about reading their 2026 system requirements, uh well, you know where the links are. And uh if you've got an older system and wondering whether or not it can run RPCS3, hopefully this sheds some light. And speaking about systems and performance and uh friendly headsups, last up here, we're quickly talking about Geekbench.
And Geekbench 7 has just been released.
And uh from my understanding, it's a massive overhaul to Geekbench. And I'm really curious to see this in action.
I'm really curious to see YouTubers test this out and take it out for a spin. I'm curious to see websites and what results they're getting from Geekbench 7 and if anything differs from Geekbench 6. Uh, but just a friendly heads up that Geekbench 7 is now out. But anyways, that is all I've got for you in this one. Straight to the point, all stuff and no fluff. We talked about a bunch today.
