Game 200: 1000 Chess Games

[00:00:00]All right, ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to LC Chess. This is game number two hundred.

[00:00:08]This is a series where I play a thousand games of chess, and I attempt to improve and just stay consistent along the way, and that's been the that's been the main theme of the channel, is consistency.

[00:00:18]Uh so, I post post a video every single day. Um one game per video, and this is just my attempt at just staying consistent.

[00:00:28]>> [music] >> Uh you've heard me talk about it before, but I've had, you know, streaks of playing for 6 months straight, and then not playing chess for 3 months after getting demoralized after a couple losses. Uh and and I wanted to break that cycle, so this is my attempt at that, [music] and also, just to show everything, I want to show all of my mistakes, all of my great moves, all of my bad moves, uh the losing streaks, the winning streaks, the highs, the lows, all my emotions and everything, and and get feedback from from other other chess players.

[00:01:05]I can't complain. I really can't complain. Um if and there if there's one theme that I want to another theme I want to come across is is just my my gratitude towards everybody that watches these videos. [music] Um especially especially those that take the time to to comment [music] and, you know, give me advice, give me feedback, um give me ideas on on moves that I could have played when I didn't when I didn't play the best. Um I'm extremely grateful for for all of you.

[00:01:38]I can't I can't express that enough. I I completely I've >> [music] >> this this channel has grown to a to a decent size, in my opinion. Uh honestly, a big size, in my opinion. I didn't think anybody would want to watch me play chess, let alone uh hundreds of people on a daily basis. So, thank you. Thank you very much. I uh Yeah, it's it's it's cool. It's a cool thing. Um But, uh Yeah, let's uh let's talk about this game 200. A couple days ago, I put a goal out to hit 1450 by game 200.

[00:02:17][music] And two games ago, we got there. We got I think it was 1456.

[00:02:23]1456, but the goal was to get here by game 200. And as of right now, as fate would have it, we lost yesterday's game.

[00:02:32]So, we're back to 1448. And in a flare for the dramatic, it's going to come down to game 200.

[00:02:44]Which is awesome. So, let's let's get into this. Let's see if I can't get to the goal before game 201.

[00:02:55]And if not, still going to be a good game. And our game gets awarded.

[00:03:08]It's something that I really don't face a lot. Um Let's go knight f6. I'm thinking c5 before I bring the knight out.

[00:03:33]That's why you play moves that uh that's why you play openings that aren't seen a lot because your opponents are going to be caught off guard from this.

[00:04:08]Yeah, see like I can I can even consider attacking here castling long.

[00:04:21]I think I'm going to do that since they committed their king so early.

[00:04:45]Yeah, this knight's going to be in a weird spot. Uh Am I getting my knight trapped if they push their pawn? I feel like I feel like the answer's probably yes.

[00:05:21]I feel like if they play G4, that's complete waste of time.

[00:07:15]G5 G4 in the future. Um and I think our attack is getting there. If they en passant, I don't think that's going to help them out.

[00:07:36]Um >> That'd be cool to get my knight over there, too, as well, but my knight's kind of the only one defending my king, but with the center locked, [music] I'm less concerned about that. Let's uh I just don't know if this is the route to take [music] bringing the queen this way.

[00:08:25]Very dynamic game we have so far. It'll be It'll be interesting. My opponent's got the time advantage, but [music] hopefully we can come away with the victory here.

[00:08:36]Feel like our attack is is getting there, but I I don't think it's ready yet.

[00:11:06]I'm still in my I feel like my king is completely safe right here. I I think the wall of pawns is helping, which is why they say to close the close the center when you're being attacked.

[00:13:42]And I think I can play F4. Got to worry about time here. I'm I'm really down on time, so I I kind of need this attack to go through.

[00:14:35]Uh Oh, my opponent resigned. Nice.

[00:14:38]All right. I think I might have just missed mate in one there unless I am missing something. So, we get there. We get 1456 on game 200. So, we hit our goal exactly pretty much. Um super happy about that. That's That's pretty cool.

[00:14:51]About 2 weeks ago, I I think I said that I wanted to get to uh wanted to get here by game 200, so we are here and we are excited to continue from this point on. 72% accuracy, played like a 1350. Didn't play the greatest game. Had a blunder and two [music] misses.

[00:15:08]But, I thought that our attack was nice.

[00:15:11]Um pretty decent opening.

[00:15:15]And we do lose the advantage when we go for the attack. So, bringing bringing the opening up the rook really made our position worse. My opponent locks the center.

[00:15:27]And yeah, allowing this move was not smart.

[00:15:35]Definitely not smart allowing this move, which was the best move, of course.

[00:15:39]Um I didn't want to do this because this just lost a pawn.

[00:15:43]Um this this felt weakening.

[00:15:46]Was I getting my knight trapped?

[00:15:51]No, I wasn't getting my knight trapped here.

[00:15:56]If they go here, I can just take the bishop. So, I'm not getting my knight trapped, but I was I was concerned about it.

[00:16:06]And I thought that with a locked center very locked center, my king's castle on the opposite side, but I have a nice attack that I can go for. My rooks are already doubled.

[00:16:16]Thought that I would really have an advantage here, but Stockfish completely [music] disagrees. Which, of course, they do.

[00:16:25]Let's continue. And then I start to gain some initiative here. Pushing pawns.

[00:16:30]My opponent has to sacrifice their bishop for the knight.

[00:16:34]Bring my queen back.

[00:16:39]This was a blunder. How was this a blunder here? What did I miss?

[00:16:44]I can take this pawn.

[00:16:51]What if I played queen h5? What's their defense?

[00:16:56]Yeah, I guess they have plenty of uh defenders there.

[00:17:02]So, sacrificing the pawn there is not the correct move, but my opponent decides not to take.

[00:17:08]Bring the queen.

[00:17:10]Opponent brings the rook.

[00:17:12]And I I like keeping the tension here.

[00:17:14]Stockfish hates it.

[00:17:20]>> Bringing the knight is not a great idea.

[00:17:23]And we actually lose the advantage here.

[00:17:26]I just thought look at I mean I thought this position was was really devastating. I thought it was going to be very hard to defend which it in my defense at my level I I would have a tough time defending it. Stockfish is not convinced at all that this is an attack worthwhile.

[00:17:45]My opponent brings the rook which is a blunder and oh yes, I find this move that wins material with for a bishop that's really not doing anything in this attack.

[00:17:56]I'm able to find this move pinning the rook winning that winning material and then This was a mistake. Stockfish wants you to take right away.

[00:18:08]Trade off this bishop but I decide to push the pawns first and they take.

[00:18:17]I don't have mate in one here. I don't have mate in one because the knight could come back here if they played something like I don't know this out of mate one.

[00:18:44]Well my opponent resigns and we get back to 1456 which is an all time high.

[00:18:49]Uh so we're actually pretty excited to keep going. We're 20% of the way there. Only 80% to go. We have a We have a while to go.
