When working with stamp sets that don't contain all needed letters, crafters can creatively solve this by using masking techniques to isolate desired letters from other stamp sets, such as extracting 'H' and 'I' from a 'birthday' stamp to create 'hi', and then using color blending with embossing powder to create ombre effects and dimensional finishes.

A STAMP SET THAT DOES ALL THE HEAVY LIFTING (1343)Added:
Hi there, it's Natasha and thank you so much for joining me today. Well, this set caught my eye. This is the floral word builder and I do love a good challenge. But also, I looked at the set and my first thought was, "Oh, I wonder if there's two sets because we're missing half the alphabet." But actually, there are just these letters in here. And then I was like, well, actually, our options are a little more than what the there's a few brief suggestions on the back. Hello, hugs, love, you and joy. Um, but actually, you can get quite creative because there are, you know, a ton of words. These are just a handful that you could make out of just the letters that are there. But I mean, even if you go on Google or if you love a good challenge in life, write these letters at the top of the page and see what you can come up with. And it could actually just be like the beginning letter to your word or the beginning letter to your name or something like that. Um, because you know, like a nice big fancy gorgeous letter to begin with. Um, and then a nice scripty rest of the word or something. Anyway, so my mind was boggling with ideas when I saw this set.
And what a gorgeous set this is. It kind of does do the heavy lifting for you, which again, I'm not mad about that. I quite like that. Uh, but I'm going to have a square card today just because I felt like that went with the look of the card. And I am going to do the letters uh, hey, H E Y. Um, I am going to need to just this little piece of uh foliage here. I'm actually just going to cover this up with a post-it note and stamp over top just because that H has a long piece of foliage there as well. Um, in fact, I quite like the idea of maybe doing like a mini slimline or slimline card using these. I think that could look quite cool. Anyway, that's for a different card for today. I'm going to pop over a layer of clear embossing powder because I'm going to use ink to color in these gorgeous images. And then as for the sentiment, now I knew that what I wanted the card to say, but I didn't really have what I needed. So, we're going to make it work, and I'll show you how. Um, a couple of things. One, I wanted the hello, a larger hello. So, I have this one here that says hello, friend. And that's going to work just fine. I can do a little bit of um masking off using a post-it note. And I can just get the hello part. I The problem was not necessarily that I didn't have the words that I needed, but that they weren't the right size. I wanted them to be not too small. Um so, I was looking for larger ones. So, I've got the hello that I needed. I really did not have the so I want the sentiment to say hi, hey, hello, you know, like three different ways of saying hello. And so I really wanted the hi to be up the top, but I couldn't find what I needed. Well, I couldn't find it large enough. So, what I did do is find a set, this gorgeous Highland cow set. I have a few videos on my channel now using this gorgeous set, but I've taken the word birthday, which obviously has an H in it, and these are all um a decent size. So, I'm going to stamp out the H after I just masked off that one. And then, of course, it also has an I in it. And so, I'm just going to mask the I and that way we have the word hi. Uh even though I didn't originally have it. Now, I could have cut each and every one of these letters apart. However, I use this set quite often and I actually didn't I like this font. So, I didn't want to cut apart all of the letters for this one. So, this is just one option or another option if you don't have an alphabet uh stamp set. So, this is going to work out just fine.
Now, as for the colorings for the letters, I am going to use some of the ocean ink from Simon Says Stamp. And then I'm going to use the sealass from Gina K because I want to do the sealass all over. And then the ocean, which is like a beautiful teal um kind of color, turquoisey teal color.
And that I'm just going to add at all the ends. And so it just creates that little bit of ombre sort of look. I have popped a little bit of water on here too so that all of the colors just melt together beautifully. These two colors actually go together really nicely. I need to remember that when I'm blending in the future. But I decided to get some inspiration from the back of the packaging actually because in my head I kind of thought that I needed to do all the letters the same color and then all the flowers maybe the same color um throughout the letters. But actually when I looked on the back of the packaging they have got in like in each word different colored flowers. And so I thought yeah actually why not? Why would I not do that? So, we're going to have fun with that as well. Choosing this is just like a bright, you know, cherry card. So, we're going to go with some bright colors for the gorgeous little flowers as well. Now, the sealass is not a very dark color. So, I do need to um make sure I've got enough of it there to get decent color on the page. And of course, I have the embossing lines which are keeping all of that color inside. So that's why it's not um bleeding out anywhere or traveling over the lines because we put that clear embossing powder on and it forms like a little border, a little wall so that that color does not escape. And then I'm going to go with the bright beautiful brights in fact um a nice bright purple, a nice bright yellow, and a nice bright orange.
Um and then a little bit of green of course for the uh leaves. Just a tiny little bit. And this is going to make a beautiful bright card for us. I have sped through this part pretty quickly just because I'm coloring them in. There is nothing fancy. All I'm doing is adding some of the color all over and then I often will come in with a little bit darker or in this case I just popped a teensy bit of orange into the corner um of the yellow and then I just mix them together to make a darker yellow so I could add a little bit darker into the center of the yellow ones. Same with the orange. I come in really light like a diluted version in the outside of the flower. And then I come in with a more concentrated, therefore darker version of the color into the center of the flowers. So, super basic, really, really easy. Then there are some gorgeous little uh bees and butterflies and birds and twigs. Just extra little filler stamps that are gorgeous in the set. And so I decided to do a couple of little bees here, there, and everywhere buzzing around these flowers. Colored these in with the yellow. And then this one is we're going to do a few little finishing touches to this one. Uh mainly because I'm covering up mistakes because no one is perfect in their card making at all.
I am going to pop around this uh onto a black matting layer. Uh I use the Lawnthorn black licorice. And this is just a very fine little layer um to bring in the black from the stamping of the sentiment and the outlines. This just brings it all together, frames it beautifully before we're going to go onto a gorgeous sealass uh card base. Speaking of, this is a 5 and 1/2 x 5 1/2 in uh card base, which this is all on top of. And then, as I mentioned, some little finishing touches because mainly because of um I got some ink here, there, and everywhere. Not too bad. But what I do is I just do a little bit of controlled splatter. And I think this sort of fills out that sort of center of the card a little bit nicely.
I'm just taking a black fine liner pen here and just adding in my own little controlled splatter. You could just do wild splatter if you like. That's going to work perfectly well, too. And then on the little bees, I'm going to use some glossy accents. And that is going to finish off this gorgeous card. As I said, this one does the heavy lifting. A beautifully designed stamp set. And I challenge you down in the comment section down below to come up with some words that I haven't come up with. Um, and you can let me know down below. Now, they do need to be words that you might use in card making. Um, but you never know what you can put on a card and make into a little sentence. So, thank you so much for joining me today. I can't wait to see you next time. Bye.
