[00:00:00]What is pure and what isn't? So, pure at the end of the day is a big old myth.

[00:00:10]The reason we're calling this episode of pure O and talking about pure O is because it's language that's just out there. So, my hope would be that if you've heard about this and you're trying to learn about this, I just want you to first understand that this is language that gets thrown on something but it's really just a myth and it doesn't actually exist. Let me go ahead and explain.

[00:00:29]Pure O OCD or purely obsessional OCD is just some label someone slapped on it one day. And the thought was that there was this form of OCD which is called obsessive compulsive disorder so you need both obsessions and compulsions to have the quote unquote disorder.

[00:00:50]Which again, we all know I don't believe that that's a disorder as well but let's just pretend let's table that for a second.

[00:00:56]And when you're talking about purely obsessional OCD, what we're talking about here is the idea that there's just obsessions. So, there's just these intrusive thoughts and the person isn't actually engaging in any compulsions.
