The company just launched a new voice model that can listen, talk, translate, transcribe, and respond in real-time during live conversations. Which means AI apps can now sound less like chatbots and more like real humans handling actual tasks. The biggest upgrade is GPT Real-Time 2, a voice model with GPT-5 level reasoning built for complex conversation instead of basic question-answer replies. Open AI also launched real-time AI translation that keeps up with live speech across more than 70 languages. So, customer support calls, meetings, live streams, classes, and even creative content can now be translated almost instantly. They also added live transcription tools that convert speech into text while people are still talking, which sounds incredible, but also kind of terrifying when AI voices become impossible to distinguish from real people. The bigger question is, how long before most support calls are just AI talking to AI?
