>> [laughter] >> Are you trying to scare me?
Welcome back to the channel everyone. My name is Sarah. My husband's name is Andy. We are Destination Desert. If you are new to our channel, welcome. We're going to go on a new journey today. A lot of firsts.
So, we hit our 5,000 subscribers, which is awesome for us. And we just want to thank all you out there [music] supporting us, encouraging us with awesome comments.
So, this is pretty unusual. They have an archery lane, archery range at this park. How cool is that? I should have brought the old recurve and flung some arrows. So yeah, looks like they have a couple little leantos, some bathrooms. Looks like the archery range is down there a little bit. That's super cool.
That is something definitely very unique to a park that we've never seen before.
So these big spots here that you're seeing with the canopies and all that good fun stuff, that is for the hosts.
So obviously it gets very hot down here in Arizona. You got to have some shade.
Wow.
Is this going to be a wonderful spot?
Check out flowers. Of course, I'm a sucker for flowers and I've got to see them right away. Look at those.
Beautiful. All right. So, we're going to see what Andy is up to and get ourselves all set up here.
>> So, it is a warm one. We're talking about 91°. So, the first thing we want to get going is let's get the AC plugged in and rocking and rolling.
When's the last time we used this bugger?
We're not in campgrounds very often.
>> All right, 30 amp.
We got power.
It is [music] always such a struggle trying to keep your windows clean out in the desert. the dust, the debris, you name it. And we want to see that beautiful landscape and show it to you, too. What really is frustrating is these screens.
We can never get this window back here fully clean on the inside.
Would love those windows where the screen can be taken away. So, when we were getting all set up to go camping, we noticed that the fridge was not clicking to ignite it and start it up on propane. Thank goodness we have our Bodega cooler that has come in so handy for us when we went on our trip to Idaho for the Red Button Ramble. It operates as a fridge and a freezer or you can have it all fridge, all freezer.
But what happened was our battery just didn't fully charge. We didn't have it plugged in. We weren't running the truck for very long on our last camping trip.
And so the battery was really super low.
And I guess as a precautionary measure, it doesn't work to click and ignite the fridge if the battery is really low.
Battery on.
You can hear the ticking.
We've got the propane on.
Let's get this fridge up and running. As much as we love using the Bodega fridge, it really does take up a lot of space inside our camper. As you can see, it was right on our step leading up to our bed. And in the heat, we like to keep it in the camper because we don't want to be going into the back of the truck trying to get, you know, our goodies to eat. So, it's a good thing to know that our fridge is still working. Thank the Lord.
See, we are golden. We're in the green.
Now, I just got to get all this stuff unpacked from our bodega cooler in our fridge. And I got to get that AC on because woo I am starting to get sweaty.
The cool air. [laughter] Yes.
Now we're tough.
Easy breezy.
>> So, we were super excited to get this Glacier Fresh water filtration system. And the reason, what I love is any you uh construction guys out there, remember the old DeWalt radios that had like the cage built around it? So, if you dropped them or whatever, they stayed protected. That's what this kind of reminds me of. It has the cool cage that's built around it.
So, it protects all your filtration.
Most of these RV spots have a nice pad like this that you can just set it on.
You don't have to worry about it tipping over. Like, we've had some where it's just the filter and the filter wants to tip over or you got to mount it or hang it from your camper, all that kind of stuff. So, this one is super slick. We have three filters, which is pretty cool. The first one effectively uh removes impurities and pollutants.
Second one, it's an activated carbon and absorbs organic matter. And the third, but definitely not the least, um, improves the taste of the water. Um, and that's huge. Out here in Arizona, our water is super hard. We will not drink it out of the tap. We even take this bugger and we um, run our water through it and fill up our water jugs at home just because we don't trust the water that comes right out of the water tap.
So, we use it at home even for that. So, that's super slick. But one thing I love that they did is so awesome. And I actually wish camping camper companies would do this. They do a easy little quick connect. So, we leave our threaded adapter here, the chrome adapter on, quick connects on. Same thing on this side. Quick connects off. So, we just leave this right on our hose and boom, you're connected. So simple. You're not using these threads, all the gaskets, you know, those gaskets dry up and that gets corroded, gets hard to get taken apart.
This thing's sweet. So, if it's something that you guys would like, definitely check it out. We'll put it in the description down below. We love it.
We've been using it for quite a while, and the water tastes great out of it.
They even supply you with this cool little wrench. So, we got our little holes and all the filter housings here.
You put your little wrench in and you just untwist it and that's how it tightens up. So that is super slick. You don't have one of those big wrenches that you got to slide over the filter and they're plastic and they strip out over time. They were thinking ahead on this one.
So I just wanted to fill this up so you guys could see how nice and clear that water is. We have very hard water here in Arizona and it tastes great. We love filling up our water jugs just like this at home and putting them in the fridge.
Now we can throw this in the fridge, have some nice clean water.
X plumber approved.
We are going to go check out the restrooms which are right in the back of our campsite. There's this cool little trail leading up to the restrooms here.
Maybe we'll have a hot shower here.
>> So, this is super convenient to have right out. Oh, no. Oh, wait. That one's closed, but this one looks opened.
>> Yeah.
>> Oh, yeah.
Nice.
That's a small little shower head.
Oh, yeah. It works. So, yeah, we got the men's shower.
We have some drinking faucets.
Um, this must be the men's Oh, yeah.
bathroom, which I'm going to have to use here in a tickle.
>> Tickle.
>> Yeah. Super cool. Drinking fountains. We got the women's.
>> Nice and clean.
>> Yeah, these parks over here are always super clean.
They always take really good care of it.
>> Mhm.
>> Oh, we got two ladies showers open.
How about that?
>> Well, I'll be dipped.
This is the baby.
>> Oh, yeah. The big handicap one. That one's got even a handheld shower.
>> Yeah. Sweet.
>> Nice.
>> Yeah, these are really cool.
>> Very cool. It's nice to have that option.
>> I got a fly buzzing in my ear.
>> A nice and cool.
>> Oh.
down.
Hey How cool is that? [music] We get to see a quail eating our apple out there.
They're so cute. I'm sure more will come soon.
Runaway parents. Hi, Jeff. Oh, yes.
Let's see here.
>> Yes. Happy Mother's Day early.
>> And I never had kids, so that's that's a short story.
>> Oh, feels good to sit back. But that was a lot of fun.
>> That was a lot of fun. And I'm so glad we got to hang out with everybody.
>> It was so incredible to have that many people on our very first live, too.
>> Yeah. We want to thank for everyone joining the live. That was awesome. We really appreciate it. And it had a way bigger outcome than we thought it would.
So, that was awesome. Thanks again, everyone. We love all of you.
So, you've [music] all seen us use our mini dash before in previous videos.
Check it out. I think it was in the one where we're at the truck camper rally, but we love using this thing for not only cheese wisps, but we make chaffles quite often and we use those for our sandwiches. So, I'm just going to share with you how we make them. Three eggs.
We whip those up. We add in a cup of cheese. This is Kobe Jack shredded. And then I've already got the dry ingredients here, but it's 1/4 cup of almond flour. And I believe it's a half a teaspoon of baking powder.
So, we're just going to put all that in, whip it all up, and then we're going to add it to our mini dash here in just a second. So, here's our mixture all mixed up really well. If your um mini dash hasn't been well seasoned, just spray a little olive oil on it so that these things don't stick. And the key is so that it doesn't overflow when you're putting these in because you want to like fill up all the spaces so you have a nice round full piece of chufflele. Is to just make sure that this kind of gets to all the edges.
without overfilling it. And if you look like you need a little more, just add a tiny little bit more.
But that's what I like to do is just kind of spread it all out. Otherwise, you lose quite a bit and it pours out over the edge. This batch that I just made, too, it's a single batch. It makes about six of these chaffles. So, you can double it, triple it, do whatever you want. Um, they're very nice in the freezer. So, after you get done making them, let them cool, stick them in the freezer, then you just take out what you need to make your sandwich. Look at that. Absolutely perfection. Ah, hot.
So, we just got a couple more to go. And these are so amazing for burgers, sandwiches, you name it. Just a healthier way of having your bread.
What's so crazy about Arizona is that you can have 97° during the day, super duper hot, and then yet 87 feels cool.
[laughter] And that's the temperature right now.
>> So, it's been a long hot day. We just decided we're going to kick back here for a little bit, hang out by the fire, and then probably go have some dinden Andy's so happy. It's dinner [music] time. Oh my goodness.
>> I am hungry. And these look phenomenal.
Well, here is cheers to our very first live. Successful, I might say it.
>> Yes.
made these date bars. They are a special treat that we love because not only are they pretty darn healthy, but they're super tasty and delicious.
So, what I used was Majul dates. I get them unpitted because I always like to make sure that there isn't a bad one in the bunch and majel are the best for these bars and all kinds of other date balls that you'll see us make. Um then you add you chop them up in a food processor or whatever.
And then this batch we actually added pecans, but [music] you can add walnuts, you can add um almonds if you'd like.
And just kind of have them chopped up a little bit. so that they adhere to the date mixture really easily. Then I melted dark chocolate and the finishing touch is the sea salt.
the joys of a nice long hot shower. Now, back to the camper to enjoy the rest of our evening. I think we're going to maybe watch a little movie or a TV.
[laughter] Are you trying to scare me?
>> Yeah. Did it work?
>> No. No. Did your shower feel good?
>> Yeah, it was cold forever though.
What a fun camping trip this was. Uh, we so hope you enjoyed it. We loved being on the live with you, sharing our background and our history and just getting to know you a little bit better.
But it's hot. It's sweaty. We >> have to get back to work unfortunately and dump and do all the things. But thank you so much for coming along on this journey with us. We appreciate [music] you. If you're new, we hope you enjoyed it, too. And don't forget to hit that subscribe button and like and share. We'll see you in seven.
