[00:00:00]Hello my team friends. Welcome back for part 12 of our one-minute educational May video series on Jewish history. If you're just joining today, please go back and watch the first video so the order makes sense. Each video is a small dose of daily incremental knowledge.

[00:00:16]Today is a mini geography lesson.

[00:00:20]Where is the Middle East? The map is above. The Middle East, the region around the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. It includes the countries that are located where the continents of Europe, Asia, and Africa meet. With the exception of Israel, all are Arab Muslim majority countries. Let's be clear. Not all Arabs are Muslim. Not all Muslims are Arab. There are Christian Arabs, Jewish Arabs, and there are Druze, a small Arab-speaking religious community born out of Islam, but now completely separate.

[00:00:55]We know that Jews are from Judea.

[00:00:58]What about Arabs?

[00:01:00]Arabs are from Arabia, Saudi Arabia, and they spread out to the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia.

[00:01:08]Now look up at the map of Israel. Israel borders four different communities. To the east are Jordan and Syria. Lebanon is the northern border.

[00:01:18]Egypt is the southern border. And to the west is the Mediterranean Sea. It's important to understand just how small Israel is, the size of New Jersey, in relation to its neighbors because it explains the security threats and the necessary military focus of the country.
