[00:00:00]Most of the time, we think about sin in terms of crime and punishment, right?

[00:00:07]We've done something terrible.

[00:00:09]We call it a sin.

[00:00:11]And then anything terrible that happens to us is only the just deserts for that sin that we have committed. Does that track for people?

[00:00:21]Is that how you sort of thought about sin in the past?

[00:00:25]Or is it just me?

[00:00:30]For me, especially uh growing up in the evangelical, charismatic, Pentecostal tradition as a younger person, it was uh sort of a consistent sense in my life that bad things that happened to me were the result of bad things I'd done.

[00:00:51]Sort of a karma approach, you know? You put bad out, you get bad back. That's That's the way that I've often um throughout my life thought about this idea of sin in terms essentially of crime and punishment.

[00:01:08]I think even if we can't articulate it, it's probably the way a lot of us think about just how the world works.
