13 ON YOUR SIDE Forecast: Isolated Wednesday PM T-Shower Chance; Tranquil Stretch AfterwardsAdded:
Like lots of smiles with today's weather. Earlier at 5:30 even the birds were chirping out on the deck. They were so happy. They're excited for the upcoming week of weather, Julia, and it is smooth sailing here in the weather department. No doubt about it. Just one wrinkle in the forecast and that comes later in the day tomorrow with a spotty thunder shower chance. As for high temperatures today, upper 70s to lower 80s. That's summer like feel here at home and we were able to enjoy a fair amount of sunshine throughout the day.
Some cloud cover drifting in right now as we're pushing into the early evening, but 82 the common number Grand Rapids to Ionia on average we should be sitting at 73 here on the 26th of May. Nearly 10° above average. 13 weather ball is solid green. We'll do it all over again in the way of numbers back well through the 70s our warmest spots into the lower perhaps even middle 80s. Outside of that thunder shower chance late in the day, much of Wednesday and much of West Michigan will trend on the dry side. 13 weather ball brought to you by Countryside Greenhouse of Allendale. Numbers tonight will gradually fall off through the 70s, the 60s and likely bottoming out in the upper 50s off a light invariable wind.
That wind gentle wind feel tomorrow will allow those numbers to rebound well into the 70s as mentioned into the 80s in our warmest spots, but with the light wind still locked in place tomorrow, not too much of a concern from a beach and boating perspective. One to two footers much of the lake shore, maybe some three footers up towards Oceana and Mason County, but the water looking like glass here out at Grand Haven. Oh, one brave soul. He's uh in those colder waters of Lake Michigan. Water temperatures in the upper 40s to lower 50s. But notice that cloud deck here a bit of a grayer sky compared to earlier today. That's the higher level cirrus cloud deck made up of ice crystals. It's not thick enough to completely block out the sun, but still that's coming in from the south due to a system well to our south across the Tennessee River Valley. That will not bring any rain across West Michigan.
Our focus is this cold front. Notice a few thundershowers blossoming up in Wisconsin. That cold front will work its way into our neck of the woods by the end of tomorrow. Hour-by-hour forecast, we're still dry through tonight, even through tomorrow morning under a partly to mostly sunny sky. But here comes that cold front supporting that spotty thundershower chance around dinner time into the early evening hours. The better chance will be away from Lake Michigan.
It's out of here in a hurry and we're back under a sun-filled sky for Thursday and Friday. And look at the numbers.
Thursday and Friday, yes, it cools us down that cold front, but these are closer uh to where we should be. These numbers are for late May purposes. And really the bigger picture late in the week into the weekend into early next week is this omega block setting up across North America. So what is an omega block? Well, if look at the jet stream, it's shaped like the Greek letter of omega and it's a high pressure sandwich between two areas of low pressure. The good news for us here in West Michigan, we are under the influence of that ridge of high pressure, meaning after tomorrow that small a thundershower chance, we are dry late week, the weekend into early next week. Temperatures will be in the 70s each and every day. Nighttime lows in the 50s. Absolutely beautiful. And this dry stretch of weather may continue into early June. Uh the long-range forecast indicating drier than weather conditions continuing into the first week of June.
As for tomorrow, upper 70s to lower 80s, a partly to mostly sunny sky much of the day. We'll watch out for that spotty thundershower chance in the late afternoon, early evening hours. But more spots than not should stay dry. Look at your side 7-day forecast. Wow, as uh quiet as it can be uh no matter what time of year it is. By the end of the week, ample sunshine, temperatures on the comfy side. That continues into the weekend and early next week, Juliet. So any outdoor plans you have, yeah, no issues here from Mother Nature.
>> So good to see you. Thank you, Blake.
