Environmental psychology demonstrates that lighting conditions significantly influence human perception and behavior; people prefer parking under normal white lights over defective purple lights because blue/purple lighting creates feelings of discomfort and insecurity, even when the physical environment is otherwise equivalent.

Smoking a Cigarette Under the Purple Hue of a Defective Street LightAdded:
Alright, so today I'm going to be smoking a cigarette under the purple hue of a defective street light. All of the lights above me and behind me are supposed to be a more whitish yellow like the ones over here. But due to a manufacturing defect, they instead project purple bluish violet light, which is not supposed to happen. And I figure eventually, probably sooner rather than later, all of the lights up here are probably going to get replaced under a manufacturer's warranty. But that hasn't happened yet. And since that hasn't happened yet, I've decided to make a video all about smoking a cigarette under the purple hue of these defective street lights. And so, as such, well, that's exactly what I'm doing today. What I have in my pocket as my pack of cigarettes is a pack of the LD red 100s, which doesn't look very red under this light, but uh that makes sense because the light coming down onto this pack isn't well normal light. It's a purple light from a uh dysfunctional defective street light. So, it makes sense why this pack looks, I would have to say probably a little bit more brown than not, but there's still a little bit of a red hue shining through. Without further ado, let's go ahead and get this pack all opened up. And let's go ahead and get actually my last cigarette of the pack all out. And let's go ahead and grab my lighter out of my pocket. And now, without further ado, let's go ahead and get this cigarette right here. All it up. And let's go ahead and actually get to smoking a cigarette under the purple hue of a defective street light. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying?
Now, I'll acknowledge I actually thought that the purple hue was intentional at first. I looked it up and I was like, why why do some street lights have purple light coming from them rather than well like a sort of whitish yellow or a sort of cool sort of white light or something like that kind of thing? I was like, why are they purple? Is it a like security issue or something like that kind of thing? Is it something where the the the blue light projects better and illuminates better for security purposes or something like that? I wasn't sure what the real reason as to why there were purple lights in some areas. I I wasn't sure what the real reason was, frankly put, to just say it simply. And so I looked it up before this video and I was like, "Wow, it's a manufacturing defect." I was like, "Huh, I would not have thought that. I totally thought it was intentional." But no, it's some sort of like film or filament on the light or something like that kind of thing or some sort of powder on the light that comes off over time. And as time goes on, as it's going off, the like blue, purple, violet light starts shining through a little bit more so than not until eventually it's all purple, which is what we're seeing right here. These lights work properly. These ones don't. But, uh, I'm kind of glad they're not working properly because otherwise I wouldn't have the opportunity to make this video today. I'll acknowledge.
I really do feel like I'm sitting in like a room that has like the LED strips on the walls, like the multicolored LED strips where you can set like 25 different colors or something like that kind of thing. I really feel like I'm sitting in a room with like the LED strips on the walls and stuff like that kind of thing where there's just like a million different colors and it's been put on like the purple setting except I'm in the middle of a parking lot for a grocery store. I'm I'm not I'm not sitting in a room with LED lights on the walls. But that's really how I feel right now. I'm not going to lie, y'all. And frankly put, I do not like these lights. These lights are not it.
Um I think it's interesting that they're purple. I think the manufacturing defect is interesting, but I absolutely hate the fact that these lights are purple. I'll acknowledge. And we can actually see that based on where are the all the cars are in the parking lot and stuff like that kind of thing.
I parked over here due to the fact that I wanted to make a video with these purple lights and stuff like that kind of thing. But the vast majority of people, and while there are cars parked over here, the vast majority of people parked where the white lights are. The vast majority of people chose not to park over here. And I honestly think it's probably because the blue lights just don't look as welcoming. You don't feel as secure with a blue light than you do with a normal white light kind of thing. And so looking off uh looking off, get my words a little bit jumbled up.
looking off into the distance uh at the other side of the parking lot kind of thing where the lights are working properly. There's actually more cars parked over there than there are on this side even though both sides are of an equivalent distance to the entrance which is um very interesting and I think is a is a is a is a interesting case of environmental psychology.
How your environment can change your perception of things. I think honestly it's probably just due to the blue lights and it's literally making people not want to park over here. Whether it be just because they're blue or whether it just be because it just doesn't feel as welcoming. I really wouldn't be surprised if it's the latter in all honesty. I do think environmental psychology is an interesting thing. I don't even know if that's like a real word for something. I'm sure there's like a some sort of dictionary word for it, but I think y'all know what I mean.
I really did think it was intentional at first though. And I got to admit, I'm just glad it is not intentional. I'm just glad it is a manufacturing defect. Uh because if they were intentionally putting up these purple lights, like actually like if I went to a store and all they had was purple lights and it was on purpose, I probably wouldn't go back to that store at night. I'd be like, I don't like parking here kind of thing. I I don't I'm not a fan. I'm not a fan. But it is very interesting and it is um pretty neat just because it is a manufacturing defect I will acknowledge. Um yeah I think it's I think it's pretty interesting stuff.
I just realized I do need to grab myself a little bit of a thumbnail. So um I'm going to go and do that real quick.
Well, hopefully one of those will do as a uh thumbnail for the video. We will find out. And I got to admit, I am glad I'm making this video today. These lights, they're probably going to be replaced under warranty sometime soon. And uh you know, if I wasn't making this video today, I could show up tomorrow and they not be purple anymore. So, I'm glad I'm making this video today.
And I'm glad I stopped by here today as well, kind of thing. I I'm not in this area a lot. I'm kind of over here just hanging out, just kind of driving around and stuff like that kind of thing.
And I saw these purple lights. There's not really a lot of purple lights in my local area. I've seen maybe a handful of them, but they're like one-off examples, and you don't normally see a whole row of them. And so, when I saw the whole row, I was like, man, I got to make a video smoking a cigarette under them kind of thing. I got to do it. And so, as such, I'm glad that I'm kind of just driving around tonight, just kind of chilling. And uh I'm glad that I decided to stop by this grocery store right here to pick up some stuff and uh well to make this video and to smoke a cigarette under the purple hue of some uh dysfunctional some defective street lamps, street lights. I'm glad I'm making this video today. I'm glad I'm over here today. Yes, sir.
Now, what I'm not glad about is the fact that this grocery store does not have ashtrays out front. They don't have trash cans out front. You got to go inside to use the trash can. And uh I actually don't have an ashtray with me today. So I'm going to have to figure out what I'm doing with my cigarette butt after this. I ain't throwing it on the ground. I ain't littering it. But uh I'm going to have to find a trash can. Shouldn't be too hard.
I should probably be able to find a trash can pretty easily. But I will have to find one nonetheless. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know where one would be. There's probably a trash can somewhere over there or something like that kind of thing. Might just walk around, see if I can find a trash can after this. Think that might be my plan. Low key. Low key.
We can really see the difference in lights though. Like the car lights over here, the lights over here. We can see the just the huge difference between the blue light and well the normal light. That's how it's supposed to be. It's an interesting difference.
Well, I think I'm done with my cigarette. I'm going to go and step it up on the ground real quick and uh just make sure it's all out. Don't want to be causing no forest fires or nothing like that kind of thing. That wouldn't be very good. I don't want to light these bushes on fire by accident. And uh overall, how was this experience? Well, I think I can definitely say after having this experience, after having smoked a cigarette under a uh purple street light, a defective purple street light, that uh this is something I would prefer not to do again if at all possible. Would I do this again? Absolutely. Because purple street lights, they're not going to stop me from smoking cigarettes. But would I prefer not to do this again? Absolutely.
because I don't like these purple street lights. They're just not it. And honestly, the environmental psychology is working on me as well. I just don't feel good over here. It's just like I need my white light kind of thing. Yeah, I just I don't feel very good over in the blue light. I'll acknowledge. Uh but nonetheless, my cigarette was a solid one. And nonetheless, I had a good experience today and I had a good time making this video today. And I hope you guys have enjoyed watching. If you guys have enjoyed watching, of course, like and subscribe.
Yeah, like and subscribe. Check out everything in the description down below. And I think that's it. Yeah. Appreciate y'all watching to the next one. Stay safe and peace and have a great one. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. You know what I'm saying?
