When federal solar grant programs like Solar for All are canceled, homeowners who purchased solar panels based on promises of government incentives and savings may have legal grounds to review their contracts, as the same low-income households targeted by these programs are often vulnerable to aggressive sales practices that don't deliver promised benefits.

$7 Billion in Solar Grants Just Got Canceled. Hear's What Comes NextAdded:
24 states are now suing the federal government, specifically [music] the EPA, over $7 billion in solar grant funding that was canceled. And if you're a homeowner with solar panels, this [music] story directly connects to your situation. The program at the center of this is called Solar for [music] All, a federal grant initiative designed specifically to help low and moderate-income homeowners install rooftop solar panels to lower their [music] utility bills. Virginia alone has been awarded $156 million, or enough to help 15,000 homes. [music] About half of all Virginia households would have qualified for this program, which would have given their homeowners 20 to 50% [music] savings on their electric bills. But then the EPA ended up taking all that money back. Virginia had already spent $730,000 [music] of taxpayer money in the rollout for the program. 24 attorney generals, including Virginia's, called this illegal and filed suit to get it reinstated. Here's the problem. So, we know the Solar for All program [music] was designed for medium-to-lower income homeowners. And those same households are the ones most often targeted by aggressive [music] door-to-door sales companies with promises of savings, government incentives, and lower bills that frequently don't materialize. And when the promises don't hold up or the incentives [music] change, homeowners are still stuck with their solar loan for another 20 to 25 years. If you're in a solar contract and the savings you were promised never showed up, that matters.
>> [music] >> A contract sold to you based on misrepresentations about savings, programs, or costs may have legal [music] grounds for review. And you don't have to figure that out on your own. That's exactly what we're here to help you navigate. At Solar Cancellation Resource Center, [music] we stay on top of every new development in the solar landscape because it affects what options homeowners have available. If you think your situation may be worth a closer look, the first step is a conversation with our team. We'll help you get your bearings and help you connect with the right legal professionals to take things further.
