A masterclass in applying Newtonian physics to planetary scales, turning a hypothetical catastrophe into a clear lesson on inertia. It effectively strips away our sense of stability to reveal the violent mechanics underlying our daily lives.

If earth stops spinningAjouté :
What would happen if the Earth suddenly stopped spinning? The Earth currently spins about 1,000 mph at the equator.
You actually don't feel it because everything around you is moving at the same speed. You, your house, your car, the trees, you might But if the planet suddenly stopped moving, you wouldn't just stop in place. Everything that wasn't bolted down deep into the crust would be launched 1,000 mph. People, cars, and buildings would be yeeted across the landscape like a giant flicking a booger. But that all happens just in the first second. While everything is flying around, the atmosphere would just keep going. You would be hit by winds five times more powerful than any hurricane in history.
But how it kills the ocean is actually so much worse. Right now, the planet's spin actually pushes water towards the equator. If the spin stops, the water will start moving immediately towards the pole. Within weeks, you would have two massive oceans, one at the top of the world and one at the bottom. There would be a supercontinent of dry land wrapped around the middle. But here's the most disturbing part. One side of the planet would actually have the sun facing them for six months cooking them alive. The other side would actually freeze in darkness for six straight months. That means Earth would be a planet that takes a whole year to equal one day. That's not a nightmare, bro.
That's a living hell.
