Large RC crawler tires (such as 2.2-inch Mickey Thompson Baja Pro X) can significantly improve off-road performance by providing increased ground clearance and traction, though they may alter the vehicle's center of gravity and require adjustments to driving technique for optimal obstacle negotiation.

This truck can do anything! HUGE 5.9 inch proline mt baja pro x on the Vanquish StanceAdded:
Hey guys, welcome back to Low RC. Today we've got the Vanquish VRD Stance out here at Crawler County. And in today's video, we're going to test these Proline Baja Pro X, the Becky Thompson's out here at Crawler County. And these are the 2.2 version. These are nearly 5.9 in tall. These are G8 compound and previous videos what I've done with this stance. It doesn't matter tire compound, tire size, tire brand, no matter what I put on this truck, it performs better than most RTR crawlers out there. And we're just going to continue that test today. But this is my first test of 2.2s 2s on this truck.
Well, I can't say that exactly. The DRZ 2.2s I have tested on here, but they're only 5 in tall and they're a custom tire. But these are the first fulls size 2.2s that I've tried on this truck.
And we're just going to see how it does here today on the stance.
And I would expect just based on past experience that they're going to be pretty good because this truck is [snorts] absolutely amazing. One of the best performing trucks in our fleet for sure. And no matter what I do to it, it just keeps on performing.
But little about the truck, it is pretty much all stock except for these tires.
And I will say these are the Enjora wheels on here. These are super heavy.
They're 224 g a piece.
So that would probably that might be a blessing or a concern because when you're climbing steep obstacles, you have to lift the weight of the wheels. So, we'll see whether that how that plays out. But this truck is absolutely awesome. I mean, this is one of the best RTRS I've ever had. So, we're going to have some fun today and just see what it can do with these giant Mickey Thompsons.
Now one other sidebar, I might add, is this does not have the stock motor in it. This is a secure 1,800 KV outrunner.
And after completing that first obstacle, you can probably see what kind of control and power this motor has. I'm running it on 3S today. It is capable up to 4S.
So, I don't know why you would need 4S. This thing is really good on 3S.
This is not the normal way I attack this obstacle here. We're just going to change it up a little bit, you know. Let's try it this way.
And this is still not how I would normally attack this obstacle, but I got these giant tires on it today, so why not try some different lines?
Tons of flex.
These tires have 3D inserts in them. I have printed these inserts for this truck. They're a little bit undersized for the tire and that is intentional.
It gives the tire just a little more grip and grab to it.
And these are available through our channel. So, if you're interested, please reach out to us. And also, while you're at it, make sure you hit the like button. And if you're into this sort of arty content, make sure to consider subscribing to our channel because we'll do a lot of this sort of video.
Man, this thing's good.
I mean, it really doesn't matter.
1.9, 2.2s, tubes. No matter what I do to this truck, it just keeps on performing.
Ride our way around here.
Now, I would say the only downfall is for this uh Outrunner system I have in it, it's not waterproof. So, not going to dip too deep into the water here, but we are going to try to try a harder line getting out of here.
Really curious right here whether it's going to get traction or want to flip backwards.
Looks like it's flipping backwards.
Might have to change my line here. Bring it out to the left just a hair. It's a little easier to the left.
This would be my only real gripe about the stance is even though it has these weighted portals in the front, it could still use a little bit more forward weight bias.
But there we go. We're going to get it right there.
And that's going to line us up real nice for the log bridge.
Even though I have wet tires, I would imagine these super wide 2.2s are pretty much going to not have any issues getting across this.
Easy.
Come down here. We'll head to the ridge line next.
Even with wet tires, I'm feeling pretty confident here that the stance will pretty much eat up the ridge line.
Well, maybe.
Let's line this up again.
Beautiful night out here for crawling tonight.
Okay, maybe the wet tires are a thing here.
Okay, there we go. I think we got some grip here.
And I'm trying to get the hook with that front left, which isn't happening right now.
And at the same time, I don't want to get too far to the left.
or otherwise this left skid will get hung up on the point of this drop when I try to get past it. So, it's kind of a There we go. There we go. That's a nice line right there. Now, I want to try to get that skid out around to the point of that rock.
If you ever thought about putting your stance on 2.2s, it's still going to be good. I mean, I'm 10 minutes into this video and already this thing is still amazing.
Just unstoppable.
We'll see how controlled we can get down this level of descent right here.
That's nice.
Really, the body rub hasn't been that bad so far. I did raise the body post up to their highest points, so that probably helped a little bit.
Now, we're going to come right back around here and we're going to try and I don't think it's going to show up how steep this is, but this is insanely steep right now.
reverse out of that just here. I want to try to get this tire in this groove.
This is where the 2.2s have changed the center gravity just a hair.
[snorts] I don't know if it's going to be able to do this or not.
Let me come down here to a different angle so you guys can hopefully see better what's going on.
Yeah, there's that steepness that I was talking about.
That is off the throttle. That's just drag break. Just letting that thing come back down just a hair.
Yeah. I don't know.
Nope. I don't think it's going to be able to get that one. So, we'll move on to the next stop.
Now I'm thinking it's probably going to get this pretty easily.
This truck is just so nice. I mean, you guys are probably sick of me saying that, but it really is.
You get the front left up on this edge right here.
That's a pretty good line right there.
Awesome.
And if anybody has noticed, I did change the sticker livery on this. It now has the red, orange, and black on it other than the uh blue, white, and yellow originally.
Yeah, ground clearance is definitely not an issue with these 2.2.
Let's come around this way.
Try this little gap right here.
My guess is it's pretty gonna probably going to crawl this pretty easily.
>> Oh yeah.
Now we're going to bring it back down and around and then we're going to try one of the harder climbs.
Oh jeez, that was just bad driving there.
And here we go.
It's got this little overhang here at the top.
Traction is not great right now.
I don't know. Might be a little with some really sticky 1.9.
You can kind of really low throttle it to get it up here and try to get the hook over top of this top ledge, but these 2.2s, not sure it's going to be able to do that.
Well, there's probably the best chance I've had so far.
I'm try to turn it to the left and see if I can get this front right to hook.
Just love the control this motor.
This truck does have overdrive. So maybe once I get the right tire lug combination here, maybe I'll have a chance. Oh, doesn't look like it.
Another one of the obstacles. The stance with its stock tires just generally walks.
I'm thinking it's probably going to be about the same with these 2.2s on here.
Yeah. Piece of cake.
[snorts] Check out that drag brake on this motor.
Awesome.
All right. Now, I think we'll head across Gus Bridge here and we will call it a day.
That was an awesome test of these 2.2 Mickey Thompsons on here today.
And again, the stance, it just keeps on performing. There is really not much you can do to this truck to slow it down.
It is going to be a good truck no matter what configuration, what tires, what you want to do to it.
Just an amazing RTR.
