The GLOBE Program's 31st Anniversary Broadcast

The GLOBE Program, celebrating its 31st anniversary, has collected over 285 million measurements from 127 countries to advance Earth system science through citizen observations. The program has expanded its capabilities by launching land cover satellite matching in 2025, connecting ground-based observations with satellite data from MODIS, Landsat 8/9, and Sentinel 2 satellites. GLOBE data supports NASA research projects including tree biomass validation for the GEDI instrument and hurricane response mapping. The program also collaborates with NOAA through the MADIS system for weather forecasting and has launched a blowing snow detection project with NOAA's STAR. The 2026 Virtual Science Symposium saw record-breaking participation with over 340 projects from 26 countries, demonstrating the program's global impact on scientific education and environmental monitoring.
