The collectibles industry can thrive without relying solely on chase cards and gambling mechanics by creating products tied to specific events like the World Cup, which generate excitement and collectibility through limited-time releases and unique memorabilia, as demonstrated by Panini's World Cup sticker books that engage collectors through accessible entry points rather than rare parallels.

Card Collecting NOT DEAD After All
Added:Alpha, it turns out that card collecting isn't dead after all.
>> And at the prices here, you're going to crush.
And the prices are ridiculously good.
Some of these spots, I can't I won't say the G word, but almost G word that you can't lose because it's so cheap.
>> I had a really interesting series of events with my youngest son, my 11-year-old, with trading cards. Now, I've talked on the channel before, he's not a big sports cards collector. To be honest, he's not even a big Pokémon card collector. He's into it a little bit, but not even really that big into trading cards. He does help me find Saints cards at card shows and so forth, but recently an event has popped up that has got him in the collecting game. You would believe it, no parallels, no one of ones, no breaks.
>> You don't have to say that. You do not need to say that. You No one in the chat needs to comment I'm broke.
It's It's completely irrelevant. It doesn't help the break. You're not helping the break.
>> the chat up. You're not really helping anything.
>> No, none of that to get into these products. It's just a Panini sticker book, the World Cup sticker book. And listening to him talk and get all excited, my wife picked up the sticker book, and they do this every World Cup, and of course I just feel like it's ironic because of course now it's Fanatics world and we're all just living in it. And this is a Panini sticker book. Of course, Fanatics is going to take over all of really the major soccer licenses, I believe in 2030 or 2031.
They already have plans to roll out cards in 2030-31. They're going to take patches off of this World Cup. Players are going to wear debut patches and that sort of stuff.
Cool, different things in this World Cup to be in trading cards 4 years from now, but that's a whole separate story.
So, my son has this sticker book, and my wife made a deal with him, "Hey, if you do your work, you do your chores, then you can have a couple of packs, you can open these packs." And he came up to me and he's like, "Dad, I got team Brazil 1994. Isn't that cool?"
And this the look on his face, he was so excited about that particular team card.
And then he had team cards that he had already gotten like team Japan was one of the already had, so he put that on over here to the side, and those were going to be kind of cards to trade with his aunt, who is also got a sticker book and she's opening these stickers. She sent me a picture, she got a Messi one that she's all excited about. So anyway, I thought, you know what, this is proof, this is proof right here that you don't need to have any sort of wild parallel or one of one or you know huge chase card for a particular product. If you have an event, and I think what's unique about this is the World Cup is every four years. So it's a very unique situation to where people are excited about the stickers and there's a whole thing around this particular event. Fanatics frankly could pull off the exact same thing as they take over these licenses moving forward and and there actually could be more products just around specific events.
They could do this for the Super Bowl.
You know, they could do this for, you know, the the NFL playoffs. You know, leading into the playoffs you've got some sort of a sticker book and you've got all the playoff teams, you're collecting the players and past Super Bowl teams or whatever. They could do this. But again, I thought it was interesting as we always talk about that there's a need for these chase cards.
need for these one of ones. There's a need for there to be something exciting to chase in there, which to be fair, I do agree with. I do think that it's good to have these chase cards. Now, do we need to have, you know, orange cream eel skin parallels? I don't know. I don't know if we necessarily need to have all of the different parallels that we've got, but I do understand the need for the the parallel, something to chase. I don't think that that's really a bad thing that the industry has leaned into.
I don't have a problem with serial numbered cards, any of that stuff. And really Fanatics, I have to give them some credit when it comes to game used and memorabilia cards moving forward, I think that we're going to see some really nice stuff out of Fanatics.
They've already proven themselves with these gold logo man patches and the debut patches. Yeah. Yeah.
Let me know, are you guys collecting these Panini sticker books, these World Cup books? I know a bunch of families that are doing this. Our friends of ours, just other families, independently, they're just doing it on their own. We've learned that they say, "Hey, yes, we do those sticker books, too." And so, this is a thing. This is a huge thing. So, let it be a lesson for the industry. We don't have to necessarily lean so hard into the gambling side of everything.
>> That's why I'm excited to tell you guys about my new partnership with Arena Club. Arena Club is a one-stop shop for all buying, selling, trading cards.
Pretty much, you name it, they do it.
And why I like Arena Club so much and and I'm excited to work with them is that they store the cards for you.
>> There is a collector base for stuff that is cool to collect if we make it cool.
We don't need to make it cool to gamble anymore. Our entire society has now moved into, you know, whether it's sports betting or what is it, Calci or one of these sites where you can bet on anything. You can bet on who's going to win an election or you can bet on is there going to be a shooting star tonight? It's derivative trading, basically. We've leaned so far that way, there's there's plenty of places to go bet. I think we can all agree we don't need more betting options. Having more of the media, more of the focus around collecting. Really, I think that the thing that's happening right now is is that there's such a heavy focus on the high net worth collector. You know, when you look at what's in the news. And actually, we're going to talk about that here in a second. What's in the news and it's high-end it's really wicked pieces, awesome stuff that is being bought up.
Let's talk about an item that just sold here recently that I thought was pretty rad. Before we talk about it, friends, huge shout-out to our channel sponsors, Chronozio. If you want to sell volume on eBay, you need a great inventory tracker. Oh, and you need a scanner that can scan up to 1,000 cards in an hour to your eBay store? Listing, shipping, all the stuff fully integrated with eBay, Chronozio is the way to go. And if you're a dealer looking to be a reseller, they have a great program, as well, where you can make money selling Chronozio products as a reseller. Super Bowl Saints will get you money off Chronozio products. That's my promo code, so make sure you get money off.
And we You friends, grading ain't getting any cheaper. The SCD 25 promo code at PSA will get you $25 off that first submission. It works for comic books, magazines, trading cards.
First-time submitters SCD 25 code. Tell all your friends. The Scary Moochie guy, he's back. Scary Moochie? Maybe he is a little Scary Moochie. Scary Moochie who bought the $16 million Pikachu Illustrator PSA 10 from Logan Paul for 16 million bucks.
He was the buyer for his treasure trove collection, the $3 million Super Mario Brothers sticker seal sealed graded PSA 9.6.
Wicked game, man. Absolutely wicked. It is It is one of the if not the grail, the grail in graded video games. $3 million bucks, massive sale. I love it.
I've got a big graded video game collection. It's all the nostalgia, man.
Going back to the old NES, Super Nintendo days, Atari, Sega Genesis, the vintage games. I think it's hilarious.
Vintage games are literally when I was a kid. So, I'm a part of the vintage video game collecting crew. And it was just cool to see this The way the games are priced out, it's kind of like first edition books. You know, it's going back in time to that first print. Super Mario Brothers had like six, seven, eight different print runs, essentially. And so, over time you had these gaming historians that have come up with the parameters of like, "Hey, the very first ones, like first print, they look like this. Second print, like this. Third, fourth." And there's different iterations. The cartridges are slightly different. The There's boxes. There's language on the boxes that are slightly different. Really cool stuff if you really deep dive into graded video games or just video game collecting in general. A great YouTube show that I watch, it was weekly and they've kind of been slacking a little bit. It's Cheat Code Weekly, I believe. It's on Get the Greg Games YouTube channel. But, there was a recent one, I think it was about a 30-minute episode. I like those two guys, Greg and Henry, and they're talking about this huge sale and what it means for for that community. I like to study other communities. I collect a variety of different things, but I watch content on graded action figures, graded video games, graded comic books, and yes, trading cards. I've got a wide swath of things. I'm also watching reactions to movies and you know, music videos and things like that, too. So, my YouTube playlist, my subscription list is very long, but I'll put a link down to their video. Make sure to check it out. Great 25-30 minute talk on that sale. If you're an '80s, '90s nostalgia nerd like me, like many of you are, you'll appreciate this this talk that they have and just kind of give you some insight into another collectible category. All right, my friends, that is all I've got today. Let me know your thoughts down below. Are you collecting these Panini sticker books for the World Cup? Let me know in the comments. Stay healthy, stay awesome, and I will talk to you again later.
